The fact that his girl said that she wouldn’t combine finances/marry him if he doesn’t change should be the biggest wake up call from this entire episode. I've noticed this myself. As I've followed the steps to shore up my finances past couple years, and I am in a way better situation now then I was then, my dependence on debt to cover emergencies goes down and so my credit score goes down. I'm 10 minutes in, and I'm soooo glad he said that, I've been thinking it for a while. That feeling of "I'm so far into it, what's the use in trying?" I think is the reason why most of the guests on this show are so deep in debt, especially the ones who can't articulate the reason. The mental drain on "why should I bother trying to be responsible when this will only add $1-$2 to my monthly minimum" is so hard to beat without a clear plan like what Caleb prescribes.

How much is the trip - airfare, ground transportation, lodging. 2 lost weeks of earnings, etc. How or who is paying for all that? Third, the "clinic" is robbing him since he is an Employee by all definitions of the word so they should be withholding federal income tax and FICA tax. He is NOT a self-employed contractor. I use a pencil case with cash. I take the money and put it in the case. That's all I have. If there's money left over I can roll it over next week for "extra" stuff or for a night of take out. I'm toying with the idea of lowering the amount of money also so less chance of rollover. I told my boyfriend we have to reel in the take out ever other night. So this is what we do. @Draggonny
@Draggonny 9 ай бұрын
This is how most people live. As much as financial experts say that you should have a 3-6 month emergency fund, most people don't even have 1 month's bills as a safety net. Late payment fees and overdraft fees mean that you quickly go into a debt spiral if you don't have savings to fall back on. Any unexpected bill, job loss, illness, injury or bereavement can throw your entire financial future into chaos. The experts are right about being prepared for the unexpected but that is super difficult right now with stagnating wages and a cost of living crisis.

@Jake38nine if they lay people off, a company typically pays more to unemployment insurance, and the workers collect unemployment insurance or severance. Also a 100 million doesn't go that far. Let's say a company has 10,000 employees, multiply by 2000 hours and you get 20 million, that leaves about 5 dollars an hour per employee. Still better than nothing.

If they just put out a notice to everyone when nights are available and they have to choose to take a shift then it really kinda is a contractor position. I'd love to know what the company does if none of the "contractors" choose to pick up a shift. Do they just reschedule everyone having a test done that night? Do they have actual W-2 employees that have to fill those shifts? Like I said, definitely sketchy, but I can see the logic behind how they got to the point in just having "contractors" that keep an eye on things overnight.

I've come to realize that the key to amassing wealth lies in making sound investments. I purchased my first home at the age of 21 for $87,000 and sold it for $197,000. My second home, acquired for $170,000, was later sold for $320,000, and my third property, purchased at $300,000, fetched $589,000, with buyers covering all closing costs and expenses. Not reaching a million before retirement feels like an unfulfilled goal.-

I initially started my investment journey with the guidance of a financial advisor named *Jenny Pamogas Canaya.* Her transparent approach granted me full control of my investments, and her fees are reasonable, considering my return on investment. Nonetheless, it's crucial to conduct thorough research before engaging with any financial advisor.

My dude, you got lucky with the housing market going insane out of control. Those same "sound" investments could have left you with like a 3% return. Don't pretend it was your decision making that made the difference.

TIL that you can apparently spend more than the given credit limit on a cc. I have legitimately *never* done this my entire 4+ decades of existence. I can't even imagine how this guy sleeps at night with this kind of debt looming overhead.
@AceRanger20
@AceRanger20 9 ай бұрын
I’ve done this by accident, I had just moved and was needing to buy furniture. I had plenty of room on my CCs since I keep them paid off but I had somehow swapped my cards and grabbed the wrong one. They all look exactly the same, but one of them has a max limit around 1/30th of the others. Had a partial payment go through and got really confused, until I noticed the numbers on it and it had charged 110% of my credit limit on the card. Paid it off immediately and charged the rest to another card, so that’s how I learned about it and the upper limit

Definitely think therapy is a good idea. This guy mentioned a few hypomanic symptoms like racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, feeling hyper or difficulty winding down, ability to work long hours without issue, reckless spending, and over utilizing unhealthy coping tools like weed.

@@knightfox4121I think the issue being taken here is encouraging others to do the same, not being generous with money. The channel is basically built on helping people get out of bad financial situations, and is often watched by people that are in similar situations or aren’t great with money. It’s almost like encouraging an AA meeting to take a sip of whiskey to celebrate someone’s birthday… not a good idea

She's too intelligent for him. She can do better. This guy just said that the most important thing to work on is his finances when she WANTS him to stop smoking dope. How is that not enough to cause him to break the habit? He was fired because his "head wasn't in it" but I think he was more worried about his poor habits than actually...ummm...what do the kids call it...adulting? I truly hope that she realizes that she's wasting time with him and that she should cut him loose. Twenty will be 30 in the blink of an eye. I get the feeling he's waiting for her to get her degree and start her career so that she can be the primary breadwinner.

This guy needs to do everything you’re saying and more. He needs to work more hours, he probably should get a cheaper car because insurance is killing him too. Also, he needs structures of accountability for his addictions. He needs his girlfriend and parents to hold him accountable for finances and addictions. I think this guy can work is tail off and kick this out of his life in a year and move out and move on with getting married and stuff. Please Jeff, do all of these and don’t let this stuff linger in your life, it’s worth it to sacrifice today!
