Absolutely right, young people watch today’s NBA and they just think about athleticism or three-pointers but they don’t know that back then he was a mental wizard and he could actually make you lose the game if he really wanted to. But also other players did, I am a Michael Jordan fan but I have no problem in saying that Gary Payton for instance was another very frustrating opponent and he could turn you down with his attitudes on the court and actually he was the only one in the finals to really make MJ shake, I actually believe that if he was put on Michael since game 1 maybe that could have been a seven game final because also Shawn Kemp was playing really good and Gary really made MJ work very hard… or maybe putting Gary on Michael since early in the series would’ve fired up MJ even more 😅

Vince treated Michael with class & respect, giving his allstar starting spot up to #23. The human highlight film was great & i love how he played one of the longest careers in the NBA.

Vince was reluctant to give up his spot at first. He only gave it up after pressure and backlash. Vince loathed the comparisons to MJ because he felt he was his own thing. The Human Highlight Film is Dominique Wilkins, not VC. Vince is Half-man/Half-Amazing, Vinsanity or Air Canada.

What's amazing is the picture of the two standing next to each other; MJ's physique looked more chiseled than Vince. MJ looked like the one who put in the time and work. Vince was a small fraction of who MJ was, no further comparisons. Vince was still a credit to the game of basketball as a player and as a person. Still, much respect to Carter for always being a class act! VC brought inhuman excitement to the game.

To this day I honestly believe Vince had the skills to be the next MJ but he lacked the work ethic and leadership skills earlier in his career to make it a reality. It's a shame.

@Pallani Even a healthy tmac and Yao would of been a problem. Which imo would of prevented the laker dynasty. They would of battled every year. Shaq vs Yao and kobe vs Tmac.

@Pallani People don't realize that team was poised to make finals runs. Just Mac & Yao couldnt stay healthy together. They had Shane Battier, Alston "skip to my lou", mutumbo, bobby Jackson, scola they had a squad. My fault tho they linked up after the shaq/kobe era in 04

Vince Cater had so much class! I loved him since he was a rookie but really knew he was one of the GOAT when he played in Memphis bc he was old but so damn relevant for them
