Thanks to you, Josh, I understand more about my favorite 22LR ammo (SK Long Range). Also, I did heed your advice by purchasing a CZ 457 MTR. Thanks again for your advice/videos. Allow me to share my current bench set-up at 50 & 100 yds: A Caldwell "The Rock" front shooting rest combined with a Harris bipod supporting the rifle butt. In such setup, I can raise the rifle's height above the bench to accommodate my preference.

Speed is a factor of bc. So the the slower ammo is going to look worse. That’s why have custom drag curves and bc zones. That chrono looks the stuff for rimfire. I’ll have to try the eley and Rws in the Annie. Thanks for an informative video.

Those BCs don't seem to make much sense to me. Example using SIGs BDX which use AB software my eley match ammo with an average velocity of 1132 in my last competition uses a BC between .122-.132 to match my range card to actual hits.

I have had a LabRadar for several years. I do use a remote trigger for my CF and smokeless ML However, I do not use it on my rimfires. I have literally thousands of rounds on it and it Never missed a shot. I just set it to Doppler and "handgun". 100 percent reliable!

Please try SK Pistol Match. Bryan Litz showed it having the highest BC in his book. I have gotten good results with it, along with Lapua Midas Plus. Interesting chrono. I look forward to the review on it!

Lapua says the G1 BC for all their 22lr is 0.172 which is what I use in my calculator. I just changed the BC in Strelock from 0.172 to 0.162 and it changed the vertical hold at 100 yards by 0.1 MOA. Not significant IMO

Would like to see a video where you verify the BC values by using a ballistics calculator using the MV and BC from chronograph. At 100 yards maybe the difference from .13bc and .2 bc is 0.5” but if you can test at 200yards the difference would be 2”. Would like to see how true it is.

Trying to get my head around those BC numbers as sk trued up in the kestrel give me something like 0.132 of the top of my head. The FX chronograph is yet to hit the side of the pond sure looks interesting

Josh, thank you for this video. I was leaning toward the Speedtracker mach4 until i saw this video. I like how it gives the velocity out to 100 yds. Will it show velocity out to longer distances? Seems to have less issues than the Labradar when using 22LR. Keep those videos coming!

Awesome Josh, very helpful and interesting. I was wondering what drag curve model you using in your ballistic calculator a G1 or a RA4 and are you using those acquired BC for your longer distances say out to 350 yards or are you scaling them back a bit with lose in velocity at greater distances ?

I can give speeds out to 300 yards. Measures 4 times at any user defined intervals from muzzle to 300

Thats really gonna come down to the barrel. After shooting a lot, really a ton, of match ammunition.....its not that 1 ammo is just better than other. Its more looking for an ammo you want to shoot and finding the right lot to match your rifle. Any 1 ammo can beat any other on any day. Some maybe more consistent with velocity etc. But not necessarily more accurate in any 1 rifle

Those BC numbers are interesting and higher than I would expect. I have trued up my BC for SK Special Plus in my b14r based on Labradar data and it comes out to .146 on a G1 curve (manufacturer number is .172 for the same ammo). The .146 BC generates results that match my real-world testing out to 200yrds. Have you built a profile for some of those and that rifle and checked the numbers again actual target hits yet? That would be an interesting video.

@@PursuitofAccuracy I highly doubt accuracies of exact velocity at exact point of downrange trajectory. BC calc is quite sensitive to such errors. Besides you must recalculate it to standard atmosphere vs experimental one

Just curious, have you ever chronographed ammo at the target, 50 yards or 100 yards ? Not checking at the rifle barrel, but at the target. Any difference in the calculated speed at different distances, but actual speed.

Magnetospeed v3 aprx $450; Labradar aprx $650. Both are, pretty much, the benchmarks for chronographs. The Magnetospeed has an adapter to mount the "spike" on the handguard versus the barrel. Compared to the Labradar the FX doesn't appear to be as robust a design.

Magneto speed once you set it up on the wiser mount so its not a pain is nearly 700. Then once you shoot your wand, well its quickly about the same. Lab radar needs the trigger added, buttons are kind of hard to figure out, and can be super picky. Neither of those two are as easy to use or nearly as simple as this chrono. Ive used all of them before and just for ease of use the fx chrono handily puts the smack down on both.

Hey Josh, I'm a bit confused on the Eley Tenex. It showed an average MV of 1121 FPS, so right on the threshold of sub/supersonic depending on your altitude and temp, but every shot showed to be less than 1100 FPS at just 25 yards. However, on the stat page it indicated subsonic at greater than 562 yards. What am I missing?

ok, my mind is blown. So does the FX chronograph generate the bc number or do you need to shoot at 25/50/75/100 etc and plug in the drop numbers to generate the projected bc, which I assume the latter.?? That is still very cool, I guess I am old school-ish. I don't own a chronograph, I just plug in drop into strelock pro and adjust for variables at distance. I guess it's just about hitting the target that matters. Wind screws me up more that anything, as I rarely shoot with zero wind. Edit- Could you do me a huge favor, if you get a chance please shoot some Aguila Super Extra 40gr lrn in the blue/gold box. I would love to see those numbers and bc. That ammo is what I feed my Vudoo, which I sort by rim thickness with pretty good luck, I pay about $3.50 a box of 50, thats why I sort

Those BC aren't going to be valid if shooting out to 300. You'll miss by a mil. U have to true your bc the further out u go. My bc for 300 is .13 using SK psm at 1120 fps
