They're all charicatures of the worst things people say about them. I'd never seen anything with Ross Kemp in it before I watched Extras. Imagine how blown away I was when I found out what he was like in real life. The guy really knew how to take the piss out of himself, and that's what makes this show great. Reading Patrick Stewart's Memoirs, he mentions filming this scene. Apparently Ricky Gervais couldn't stop laughing at all, and Stephen Merchant had to stand in for him for much of it. Especially the way Patrick pronounced "knickers" really cracked Ricky up. Patrick writes "the two hours I spent with those guys, though, were one of the most fun times I have ever experienced in show business"

I wasn't a huge fan of Extras, although I can see why it was so popular and why so many people enjoyed it, one thing I loved about the show was seeing actors who you wouldn't really associate with comedy, play charactertures of themselves, giving away it seems their weird habits, beliefs and mannerisms to great comic effect. It's great writing to see icons such as Ian mckellen, Kate Winslet, Patrick Stewart and many others play these roles.

I have watched this countless times over the course of a year or two and every time, a new part becomes my favorite. Currently it is at 3:02. "Yeah, because they've been in the camp for so long". It's just perfect, the way he's justified the actions of the women to make it more plausible and arousing for himself. Sorry to over analyze this, but it's really deep comedy and I think deeper reflection only strengthens the appreciation. And then Gervais' finisher, " can happen". Brilliant.
