why do you keep deleting comments that highlight problems with what you are saying?

what about people with inflammatory back disease? Pain is caused by inflammation attacking the spine and ignoring that and trying to exercise through it will cause the inflammation and damage to progress over time. That needs to be managed with medicatin to prevent progression otherwise your spine can fuse together. Is that in the brain?

Oh yes. Not the inflammation, but the mindset which can contribute to feeling more or less pain.A couple of years ago after a long period of research and incorrect diagnoses, I was told and convinced that I had Bechterew disease with all the drama you describe. Eventually I was lucky to ran into a good specialist who was able to change my mindset. I am working out everyday, have less complaints and overall feeling great. You are asking if it's in the mind, but stating that the pain 'needs medication' and 'otherwise spine can fuse' are mind views which contribute to feeling more pain. Having inflammatory backpain does not mean you have to take medication and it also does not mean your spine is going to fuse. Don't forget that even though you have inflammatory backpain your back is STRONG.

​@@bvanderr why was my response deleted? Because it's an uncomfortable truth. Ankylosing spondylitis will cause a spine to fuse together if left untreated. Inflammation attacking the spine has nothing to do with the mind. 20-30 years ago, people with AS would gradually become more disabled until their spines fused -- the condition is also called bamboo spine. Denying the reality of this and peddling this half-baked pseudo science is deeply irresponsible as it may prevent someone seeking actual treatment for a degenerative condition.

Absolutely, I've been told that this 15 Year old Chronic Back Pain issue is in my head and I've done Absolutely Everything. The only thing is now, because of all those Positiveness, Over the years I've just made it worse so now, another MRI. 30 minutes in a tunnel I hate but I'll medicate and meditate through it otherwise It'll be a big struggle. Lucky I've got 4 sons and 2 Grandsons otherwise I would've left this plain a long long time ago

I think their point here is that things that seem like damage (e.g. disc bulging, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, back pain with no findings) are almost always normal signs of aging (like grey hair and wrinkles). The reasoning is that there are studies of individuals of all ages with all the diagnoses I just mentioned who are asymptomatic (no pain) and that the vast majority of adults have signs of aging in their spine. An inflammatory back disease is a very vague term (non-specific). To the best of my knowledge, there are no studies on this. Therefore, this is possibly a physical issue that needs to be managed by your healthcare provider.

@@IrishMexican It's not a vague term and there is plenty of scientific research . Have you heard of Ankylosing spondylitis? What qualifies to speak on this subject?
