Lamb is my favorite meat! Ever since I became keto-vore, I’ve been making myself eat beef because I thought it was better for me... I marinate boneless leg of lamb in red wine and garlic, roast to medium rare, and serve with a sauce made with marsala or madeira wine, cream, and mushrooms. It’s divine. If you’re new to lamb make it like this, you won’t regret it!

I've never understood why fish is not considered to be meat either. I'm living in Korea, and the word for fish in Korean is actually "water meat". And, yes, lamb is amazing. I love all the fat on it and the fact that the lamb I get still has marrow in the bones, which is delicious.

There might be a religious reason for this. I asked my priest this question once, because notably for fridays during Lent, devout catholics did not eat red meat but fish was allowed. He responded that in ancient times in Europe fish was considered to be somewhat of a poor person's food, way less rich than red meat. The point was to give up some comforts and think of Jesus, the time he passed in the desert.

I grew up eating almost only chicken & tons of grains & processed snacks. My family thought this was the healthiest and/or most convenient. Man. I feel like I was targeted by the food industry as a child! By the time I hit my teen years I had so many digestion issues/pain and horrible acne from 12 yrs+. Then I thought the answer was veganism/vegetarianism... was hospitalized for blood sugar issues! Couldn’t handle it anymore after a year. I’m now 24, started eating red meat last year, have slowly learned more & more... and my skin is clear, I don’t get stomach aches everyday, & I am able to use the restroom everyday for the first time in 12 years. I wish everyone knew this info. Ugh. Love your channel!

My health is fully back and I'm at the end of my journey. 😊It was a short journey consisting only of a mild b12 and omega 3 deficiency but I'm really grateful for my experience. I only went vegetarian for a week. I considered the lifestyle for months but only actually tried it for a week. So many people actually went months eating no meat and had to recover from it. I'm lucky. I had a diet of mostly pizza,burgers,snacks etc and since I had a ton of energy and wasn't gaining weight I thought I was fine. Not so. Even with the heavily meat and cheese laden pizzas I was eating, it wasn't't nearly the amount of B12 I'd get from regularly eating steaks and liver like I used to. I also know now that it is imperative that I continue to eat my salmon and tuna. I'm very grateful to have found what works for me so young. Thanks Kait for informing me of a lot that I didn't know and needed to know, confirming what I already knew and being a voice of reason amongst the silliness. My journey ends here but I'll still pop in occasionally just because I like your vibe and I want to check up on you and drop a few comments. Bye!🤗

I deleted the comment because it was an absolutely ridiculous and unhealthy risk and though it made me feel a LOT better, I didn't want to influence anyone else. (Edit:typo)

Very good information! I think animal protein is superior when it comes to preventing sarcopenia, but eating to much protein is easy to. Igf1 is necesary for different processes in the body but can be bad if over consumed. My recomendation if you want to optimize youre health: make a constant glucose monitoring to see wich carbs are best for you, everyone spikes with different ones. I could have a problem with rice but be fine with ice cream ( consider you should earn youre carbs and not over do them ) if you want to know that you don’t overdo you’re protein get you’re nitrogen levels checked. Eat the meat you need and combine it with a variety of plants with it ( exception people with outoimune desease ) just play a little with it and find out what works for you. At the end we are all different 🤙 hope this comment helps someone. Keep up the good work kait ☺️

Soak in milk, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce for at least 20-30 minutes, an hour or two is good too. Caramelize onions and garlic in grassfed butter. Add Rosemary, pepper and tumeric if you like. Goes great with cauliflower mash too. Pan seared mushrooms are great as well. Hope that helps. The liver only needs two to three minutes on each side, like five minutes total on non high heat. If a little is raw on the inside, you needn't worry. Liver is not a muscle like heart or other meats. As such it will get tough if overcooked.

I love your videos, but when mentioning places to get gf meats and supplements, can you suggest places in Australia as well?
@HealthCoachKait4 жыл бұрын
I haven't been able to find a database like that one for Australia BUT in general, our meat is a lot better quality. We don't have the same government subsidies on grain as they do in the US, so feeding cattle grains for long periods of time is more expensive than letting them graze. You might even notice if you go out to eat some steak might be labelled specifically "grain-fed" and cost MORE! Go in to your butcher and ask them where they source their beef and if it is 100% grass-fed 🙂 Or if you search "grass-fed beef *your location" some farms will pop up! With all that being said, I recently came across this company home.butchercrowd.com.au/

I gravitate towards beef all the time. I have had some lamb. I used to eat salmon all the time but not as much anymore. I was wondering if turkey falls in the same category as pork and chicken? It will be turkey time in the US in a couple of weeks.
@HealthCoachKait4 жыл бұрын
Poultry in general is higher in omega 6 than ruminant meat is. I am actually not too sure what the feed is like for turkey... I assume conventional turkey would be the same as chicken as they are trying to fatten them up as much as possible! But don't let that ruin your appetite for turkey on Thanksgiving. What matters is what you do the majority of the time, not the minority 🙂

Try some recipies for roast leg of lamb. Have the first meal hot with gravy from the pan juices, roast veges & all the trimmings, then use the leftover meat sliced in sandwiches, &/or also served hot again minced in a recipie for traditional 'shepherds' pie'. If totally carne or very low carb just adjust out the veg. Loin chops just sizzled in butter with pepper & salt are beautiful.

Is kangaroo meat healthy? Is it better or worse than eating lamb or beef?

I was wondering also. It is strongly flavoured & generally extremely lean, & not great for people with gout. A bit like venison. Goes well in goulash.

Kanagroo is healthy! But yes, verrrrrry lean so you need to add additional fat.

I totally agree with your choices based on education and personal experience! Beyond the PUFA's from pork and chicken, even though "pastured" they are still supplemented with corn and soy which many people are allergic to, autoimmune etc and pesticides, so I avoid them like the plague. Not even close to as nutrient dense and mineral balanced as the red ruminant meat. Thanks for getting the word out!

Grass fed is too low in quality for me. I go the extra mile and get my beef panda massaged. 🐼😛

I posted this on another video but I thought it could work here too. Red meat has always been superior imo. I always thought that you could tell the difference between red meat vs white meat in the way mankind prepares them. White meat, for the most part, is always included in something like a casserole or pasta dish or drenched in sauces. And then there is the always popular way of breaded and fried. All the chicken restaurants that I'm aware of who serve only chicken, serve their meat battered and fried and then advertise on the flavor/juiciness of it after it has been manipulated. Other restaurants use it in the casserole/pasta/sauce way. You never really see a plain grilled chicken breast on any menu without something added with it. Boring and tasteless. Red meat is different. Sure, you can do the same types of things...well maybe not fried beef 🤢. But, there is an entire subset of restaurants that cater to placing slabs of fatty grilled steak in front of you and you really don't have to add anything. The flavor is just there and pleasing to our palates. We instinctively know what our bodies need if we just listen to them.
