Triglycerides down from 721 to 126. Doctor says that triglyceride levels are reflective of what you eat. I said that all the bacon, cheese burgers fried in butter, cheese, etc. all really helped in lowering my triglycerides. He just kept staring at me. I said, “come on, you know it’s the sugar that raises that.” He agreed that it is the sugar.

My HDL and triglycerides have always been good. On keto, they are even better 90-47. However my LDL is gone up to 200. I am not worried because even in my 20s it was elevated to at least 160 and sometimes 170. I am 67 now; if my dr was right, I should have been buried from CVD long time ago. I just keep refusing the famous statins over and over. Ahhh! That's the cholesterol story of my life. Pre diabetes almost got me down, but it is already taken care of with keto and IF. Good explanation and information Thanks!

My total cholesterol is 278. HDL 90. LDL 177. Triglycerides 52. And my blood pressure is 90 over 60. A1C of 4.9 and a fasted blood glucose of 70 mg/dl. I don't feel worried about LDL and no one else should worry about their LDL on a low carbohydrate, keto or carnivorous diet. Maintaining good glucose control, having a high level of omega 3 fatty acids, staying active and controlling stress are all more important then LDL

My triglycerides have dropped 75% since going keto with intermittent fasting. I eat OMAD but when I eat, it’s 3-5 thousand calories and I’m maintaining weight loss and energy level because I eat 2/3 fat and 1/3 protein. The only carbs I eat on a regular basis is a leafy green salad with dressing I make myself. It seems to be working great for me.

Most Drs don’t follow this 😞 I refuse statins. The PA said “fat is fat” so… I do low carb and have reversed my type 2. A1c is 5.5 now. Lost 51 pounds. It was eliminating refined sugar and processed foods that helped my body, not a high protein/fat diet.

Thanks Kait you cleared up the confusion about MCT oil for me. My triglycerides went up slightly during a period of illness and I had dropped my guard diet wise. It was great to get an advanced lipid profile which basically reflected what was going on. My LDL small particle was high but that reflected the triglyceride increase. I was still in the optimal range but stress, lack of sleep, no exercise for 6 months, and consumption of low grade carbs threw me out. It was plain to see, however my doctor still looked at the grand total and declared statins. I have resisted again. Didn't know you were based in Oz and yes the farmed fish is plentiful as are the wild you just have to find a trusted fish monger or invest in a fishing rod. Have a great weekend!

Furthermore, the article that you show with the headline “ why you should no longer worry about cholesterol in food” further down in the article say that “ the US dietary Guidelines call for a daily cholesterol limit of 300 mg”. If the dietary cholesterol was no issue They wouldn’t put a limit on it. And at the conclusion of the article is says “The American Heart Association recommends limiting dietary saturated fat and intake and focusing more on eating fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean animal protein or plant protein source.

A few years ago the Dr told me I had borderline diabetes. I started exercising, watching my diet and I kept my numbers low for a long time. Eventually they started going up. I asked my Dr to change the medicine or give me a bigger dose. She said that I was ok because my A1C was under 7, it didn't matter that I wanted to keep it down. My Dr left and I got a new one. Same dialogue, no better med and the numbers up. That Dr left and I got a 3° Dr with the same result. It didn't matter that I told them my A1C went from 5.3 to 5.7 to 6.2 and now 6.5. They say "wait until 7". If it was cancer they'd say "we'll start the treatment when it gets metastasized". I don't want to need insulin and end with a pump up my a$$ but my Drs have other plans 🤨

The is a very good study that separate people in two group group one ate food with dietary cholesterol and group two ate food devoid of dietary cholesterol. The blood cholesterol of the group 1 increased while the second group blood cholesterol decreased. Then they switched the grips food and this time the group one cholesterol decreased while group 2 cholesterol increased. This is exactly the opposite of what you claim.

Tis a bit confusing I might add..😂😊. I have also come to realize I simply cannot eat/diet the way I did in the 1980’s and beyond. Also, I do believe the immune system changes every seven to ten years. During the pandemic lockdown, I went “down to the wire.” I eliminated beef, chicken, and obvious starchy carbs mostly. I did do some IF at least twice a week. Some dairy products I kept but didn’t eat them regularly. Fish, eggs/egg whites, and green vegetables I kept. Avocados were a staple. I ate them like there was no tomorrow and other low glycemic fruits. I was able to keep this up for a year and a few months. I lost about ten pounds. Saw my doctor and he told me my triglycerides had gone down as well. Along with that, my nails started to split, peel, and break. Not fun. Fast forward - I added the chicken and beef back in my diet and consumed them regularly. Kept the avocados etc., went to my doctor recently and guess what - my triglycerides were up yet again. In fact, he’s been on me for well over four years to take a statin. How about NO! Once again, I’ll not be consuming beef and chicken regularly. Once a week or every other? Not sure how I’ll go about this BUT I do have a plan. It wouldn’t surprise me if I have a histamine issue. That’s what took me to my doctor recently in the first place. The avocados are high histamine. I’m currently trying to follow a low histamine eating plan. The itching and hives are no joke by the way. (I have a referral to see an allergist.)

@@insertmyidentityhere … I have no idea why my numbers went up yet again. BTW - I wasn’t eating junk as in sugars etc.. cookies, cakes, pastries, etc..if that’s what you are referring to. High glycemic foods aren’t welcome nor is gluten. The lectins cause problems. Also, I’m in my late 60’s. Two immediate family members had high triglycerides and were on meds for it. Both were long time smokers and are now deceased. I’m not a smoker. Not on your life. No thank you.
