Add 1 clove garlic in my salad in the evening for dinner, I cut garlic into chunks and soak in tsp olive oil for few minutes before adding to the salad you can add red onion to the salad which is also good. I don’t want to take statins but have high LDL and overall high cholesterol levels with a ratio of 5.0. Last year it was 3.4’but staggered away from my healthy eating habits and now the levels is so high they recommend statins. I told my doctor I am going to try eating healthier and exercise to avoid taking statins and retake test in couple to three months. The downside is high cholesterol runs in my family and my family thinks I will have to take the statins no matter. No disregards to my family but I like to do things naturally and want to try eat healthier and exercise more then go from there:) thanks for this info !:)

My sister is a very rare combination of lupus, diabetes and now high blood pressure and cholesterol and her kidneys are not working properly so I'm doing as much research as I can to help her. I'm so scared to lose her. I'm going to school to be a holistic nutritionist and I want to specialize in her diseases to help her and others like her. The thing is she can't do a typical lower card diet because she is very under weight and need some diet to help her gain weight but also with the lupus if her immune system gets better she will have a flare up but if she doesn't get the rest under control I'm afraid for her life. Also she's on so many medications to keep everything at bay that I'm afraid for all of the symptoms they are making for her. I'll send her this video and pray she takes these into her every day life.

@DrGus2 жыл бұрын
Greetings Andrea Mangar, thank you very much for your interest. I hope this is useful: While there are no specific recommendations for flaxseed intake, 1-2 tablespoons a day is considered a healthy amount. One tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains 37 calories, 2 grams of polyunsaturated fat (includes the omega-3 fatty acids), 0.5 gram of monounsaturated fat and 2 grams of dietary fiber. You can soak it in water and take later, you can add it to salads, grind it into powder and mix in with smoothies.

Caution on the intake of fish especially tuna. Mercury accumulates in the body. Illnesses are often misdiagnosed because mercury level tests aren't in regular blood screenings. Several Hollywood stars trying to stay healthy eating fish daily got sick from mercury. Pregnant women are told to avoid tuna....must be a reason.

I know this is late, but add the chicken, red meat, and eggs back to your diet. Vegan diets cause high cholesterol. I bet you're on the saturated fats are bad for you band wagon. This is already disproven, but this myth persists. Look it up. Use butter from grass fed cows. Stop the low fat diet, it's the source of metabolic disease. The absence of fat soluble vitamins causes metabolic disease. A low fat diet prevents fat soluble vitamins to be absorbed.
