Haha love the practicality of this video. Quick recap of people wanting a summary: - Frozen veggies and fruits - Canned goods (tomatoes, broth) - Instant products (rice) - Ethnic Inspo (red and green curry paste, coconut cream/paste) - Whole grain bread - Condiments, sauces and dressings (less sodium and sugar) - Raw nuts and seeds - Mineral water "Everybody needs a bit of curry in their lives."

I'm late to the party but I love this video. My go-to pantry items are oatmeal and peanut butter. When I'm depressed and just trying to survive I will make instant oatmeal, mix in peanut butter while it is hot then add in 6 halves of strawberries or slices of banana that are pre frozen (this cools it off quickly and thaws the fruit so I can eat it soon, which is doubly helpful if I'm tight on time). I keep half a dozen to a dozen containers of frozen fruit on hand (all fruit bought fresh when on sale because buying frozen bagged fruit is not an option for me as I can't stand the residual plastic taste it leaves behind). I must be frugal to survive so oatmeal is a very affordable option to keep it healthy. Buying thick cut rolled oats and adding flax seeds and cinnamon can keep it even healthier, but sometimes depression doesn't play nice so I do keep a stock of instant oatmeal packets. The added sugar may not be ideal for some people but eating instant oatmeal is much better than not eating at all. Take care of yourselves and remember no one is perfect and you don't have to eat 'healthy' 100% of the time. Some effort is better than no effort and we all fall down. Just remember to get back up, even if it takes some time. In the last 3 years I've lost 60 pounds by making gradual, small changes over that time and learning more and more about nutrition, mental health, and myself. It's a journey and sometimes you'll feel stuck for months at a time - keep going. You'll be able to look back someday and see how you've changed.

Congrats on making those little consistent shifts over the years! I always recommend instant alternatives for anyone. Healthy choices depends on more than just the commonly accepted "healthy" foods, you're absolutely right!

I buy an awful lot of fresh tomatoes. To the point where I go to the greengrocers buy a tray. Every now and again I make batches roasted tomato sauce. I do this usually when tomatoes on offer or they are selling them off cheap because I starting to get soft.

Eggs, chicken breasts & thighs, mustard, frozen blueberries, vegetable broth, canned tomatoes, olive oil and spices. The mustard, olive oil and spices can make a dressing and/or marinade for chicken. The broth and chicken can make soup or stew. Healthy, simple and economically viable is the goal.

👍Excellent video with 2 exceptions. Rather than buying the cartons of stock, there is a product called "Better Than Bouillon." This is a paste, not a dried cube. It comes in a small jar and 1 tsp makes 1 cup. Once opened, the jar needs refrigeration. This product is great for people who don't have a whole lot of storage space for the boxes of stock. Because the packaging is smaller, it's more environmentally friendly to transport from manufacturer to store and store to home. In addition to the traditional beef, chicken and turkey flavors, they have others such as mushroom. If you buy the low sodium version, you can reduce it to intensify the flavor without it becoming too salty. I first heard about in Cooks magazine and once I tried it I wondered why I had ever bothered lugging the boxes around. The second issue is PLASTIC BAGS. OMG, in this day and age, an influencer such as yourself isn't using reusable bags⁉️ Come on - You focus on what's healthy for your body; you need to include what's healthy for your environment. OK, rant over. Everything else was great. Thanks.

You could freeze the whole loaf and take the slices you want to eat. I thought if you put bread in the toaster while frozen would make it soggy but it actually toasts just as if it wasn’t frozen. 👌🏼

I love freezing bread. We'll buy extra on sale, freeze it, thaw it on the counter in the morning. By lunch it should be thawed or close depending on the thickness of the bread. You can also toast frozen bread, it's great in a pinch! 😊

I freeze a sliced loaf and just toast a couple slices at a time. Want soft but not toasted? Zap in microwave briefly. Lasts 1-2mo in freezer before getting freezer burnt.
