That's such a huge compliment and I appreciate it more than you know. My intention is to help people transition to healthier eating and outcomes in hopes that they won't have happen to them what has happened to several of my family members and friends. Living with sickness, and on medications for the last several years until succumbing to an early death is far from ideal. This has been the experience of far too many, and I am hoping my efforts will empower others with the knowledge and knowhow to subtract their name from that dreadful list. Thank you again for appreciating my efforts and sharing your comment! I appreciate you!!

@@healthyveganeating yes sir. I switched to a whole food plant based diet a few years ago. I'm trying to kick the meds too. I'm always looking for recipes to feed my sweet tooth. I have a podcast and interviewed 3 white ppl about veganism. I'd love to have you on to discuss the changes 'we' need to make to our diets and save our lives. It's called Captain Hunters Podcast. I used to talk about police -community issues. Now I'm gearing to men's issues, since the best way to help young men is to be the best version of ourselves. Of course we need to be healthy in body, mind and soul. If you get a chance check out my podcast and if you'd like to do an interview let me know. Regardless I will continue to check out your content and use your recipes. 😜

Thank you for this wonderful recipe. May I ask you some questions please? First: it didn't appear that you cooked the crust before filling it - is that right? Second, can I check that you don't bake the topping at all? Last: what is your opinion about toasting walnuts? They are so delicious toasted, but does it wreck the omega 3?
@healthyveganeating11 ай бұрын
Yes, I did cook it lightly beforehand. I mentioned in the video that you could tap on the link that I put on the screen to see the full, step-by-step video for the pie crust, so that would probably be helpful to you. You are correct that I did not cook the nut crumbs at all before or after topping. If you roast nuts, I suggest roasting them very lightly at a low temperature to avoid forming acrylamide and to preserve nutrients.

Thanks for the great video. Great meeting another vegan 😊 can I used these substitutes for the baking powder and if so which one would you recommend? Substitutes for baking powder To replace 1 teaspoon of baking powder, all you need is ½ teaspoon of vinegar and ¼ teaspoon of baking soda For 1 teaspoon of baking powder, add ¼ teaspoon of baking soda and ½ a teaspoon of lemon juice for the desired result. Baking soda is stronger than baking powder. For 1 teaspoon of baking powder, use ¼ of a teaspoon of baking soda.

Javant, I would love to see a video explaining how you cut out salt please 🙏 It's easy for me to cut out sugar, I use bananas and dates instead. But I have a serious salty-tooth and would like to cut it out.
@healthyveganeating11 ай бұрын
Hello, How to best transition to no salt, sugar, oil, or just a different diet in general, is so individual based. What works for me, may not work for someone else. My transition from very unhealthy eating habits to healthier choices was, and continues to be, very fact and knowledge driven. Once I am aware that a healthier, practical alternative exists for a food I am currently eating, I have no problem giving up the less healthy food, no matter how much I enjoy eating it. It's simply a matter of figuring out how to prepare or incorporate that healthier option. In the case of salt, I gradually titrated the amount down to allow my tastebuds time to recalibrate to less salty food. Now I am able to eat all my foods (even hummus and soups) without added salt. However, I do occasionally use miso and coconut aminos for sauces and broths, or as condiments to my food. The salt that I include in my recipes that are posted here is a deliberate effort to make the recipes appealing to the 98% of people who salt their food. I do also add the caveat to salt to your own taste in case the amount I include is too much or little for some people's tastes. Thanks for considering me a good person to pose this question to. My apologies that I am not able to offer a method to use that I am confident could help. I would love to know how it goes, so please message me once you are salt free to share the details. Happy holidays!

Could you use oats? In my baked oatmeal I mix mashed bananas with oats, vanilla, and cinnamon, and I bet if you used just a bit of banana or even oat milk or water it would give it more of a crumbly consistency you could use as a topping like a Dutch apple pie.

I've made apple pies twice before but bought the ready made crust. Will try your recipie for crust but was wondering if I can make it with the almond flour and no lid. I have a basic pie pan so if I cut it do you think that will be enough to prevent burning? Are there other flours you recommend for this?
@healthyveganeating11 ай бұрын
The lid is not just about keeping the edges from burning, it's also to trap the moisture and help the apples cook. Please know that you can cover it with a cookie sheet or another pie pan and get the same results as using a glass lid like I did. I apologize if I made it seem complicated, but I think your results would be fine as long as something is covering the pie. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for watching!

Don’t get me wrong, less steps in the kitchen is GREAT FOR ME 😁 Thank you Javant.
@healthyveganeating11 ай бұрын
Well, you are very observant. I didn't show the process for making the crust, I just showed the rolling of it. I linked the video for making the crust, and that would indeed require weighting it down and a pre-bake. the glass lid goes to a casserole bowl that I use for my daily salad. I have had it more than ten years, and don't recall where I purchased it, unfortunately.
