I love what the bassist Dee Murray does on this song. He is so underrated. Really, the entire Elton John band is.

The whole double album still stands. Check it out if time allows.

Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray...one of the best and least appreciated rhythm sections in music history, imo.

Little Richard arrived twenty years before this. He was the fifties. This is the seventies. Literally, that Elton John album was a major part of the sound track of the seventies. Now check out "Bennie and the Jets". I can see people in church worked up and dancing to that one part. My football coaches in high school used to play this to get us pumped up before games. But that reflected the times when they were in college. We got more pumped listening to AC/DC and Judas Priest.

Little Richard is a major influence literally on just about all rockers that came afterwards. You should hear Paul McCartney do his Little Richard cover with the Beatles, "Long Tall Sally", a staple song of Beatles early concerts. Paul is literally "Son of Little Richard". Here, the phrenetic energy of this song definitely channels Little Richard.

Listen to his very first live album 11-17-70 - Elton with just his current drummer Nigel Olsson and his bassist the late Dee Murray. His fingers used to bleed from pounding the keys ao hard, and he used to do Hand-Stands on the piano! Its is hard rock and soul and very very high energy. You will never look at Elton the same again. Back in the day, he totally Rocked the House.

Loved your reaction!! If you wanted to dance to this, you'd have to jive, jitterbug, lindyhop, swing or '60's rock n roll to it ❤

The piano is more reminiscent of “The Killer” Jerry Lee Lewis….Must see him live! Elton plays with heavy hands like Jerry Lee did.

This is great live also, but I recommend concerts from a few years ago, when Elton was a little more intense in his playing. Maybe the year 2000 concert - Live from Madison Square Garden - One Night Only.

I love you love the music, the story is of a classic night out in the UK in the 70'S end of the night guys would fight outside the pub, for no reason, it still happens. Its a preparty song to get hyped up for a night out. Definately check out Yellow Brick Rd and please comment on the story

My favorite Elton song bar none! We played this at a bar one night and a fight broke out! Looking back that was awesome! But, kind of scary at the time...we even had to pause momentarily 🤣🔥 🎸🎸🎸🍺🍺🍺

What a great song! Mugs, you should definitely react to some def leppard, my choice would be hysteria. If you like that, you should check out the rest of their stuff! (This is speedy btw I changed my account name!)

Little Richard influenced all these guys. You also hear Richard in Elton's vocals on this. This could easily be a Little Richard song from 20 years earlier.

**IMPORTANT** I think I know why you only have 344 views, 8 hours after uploading & only 18 comments... Clicking on your thumbnail in the suggestions shows me 8mins 46secs of ADS! And refreshing the page again and again doesn't help! Your video will not play, it's replaced by nearly 9 minutes of stupid ads! The only way I got it to work is to click on your channel and select this video from your list, and it plays with ZERO ads! But just playing from the thumbnail suggestions shows 9 minutes of ads! You've only gained about 3 views in the past several hours, and that's probably why, people see 9 minutes of ads, think there's a bug & they click away, costing you a hell of lot of views! Playing it from your channel playlist is the only way to get the actual video to play.👍👍👍👍
