Are the rewards in the Patreon structured the way they are so that the Patreon can remain completely outside of your publishing agreement with Arc Games? I notice that everything offered relates to access to what the devs are doing and the devs themselves rather than material digital rewards related to the games you're working on (apart from Beta access, but eh).

What is wrong with kickstarter and indie gogo? I understand the point of pateron to have monthly updates and money coming in. I want to buy your new game, but I am worried. Solar Ash wasn't great. It's camera is so rough and it takes you out of the experience. You could have updated the game and made it better. Instead it's move on to the next thing. Your game sold poorly and people praise you on having multiple games being made. It makes me more worried because you are scaling up too much with poor sales. Poor quality and your studio might be better focus on making one game the best it can be. You will probably dismiss me on being a hater, but I legit care about the company success. Can you do two games at once while making the quality better? Will Hyper Light Breaker be better than Solar Ash as far as camera and combat go?

@@DrWellRound I'm seriously tired about this behaviour online surrounding things I love like video games/movies. There's almost no genuine discussion about why something works or not. Because SBI is involved to a project or not or how a character looks like, I couldn't care less. I'm not a freaking 10 yo anymore. I just want everyone to do their best even if they can't succeed at the end. Like Alx says in the video, it's an industry driven by passion even with all its flaws. What the f*ck happened, that we let absolute passionless people sh*t all over the people that work in this/these industries? And sorry, but people always being so negative and mean spirited can say/attack whatever/whoever they want? Why should I be the one having to control my behaviour at this point? I understand your concern and I don't disagree but I mean It has been 7years since I first saw this awful behaviour online while staying silent during all this time. If Heart Machine wants to delete my comment I don't mind either, it's their choice! Anyway, I appreciate your comment

HM is a small studio, asking politely for support and voicing their concerns about the industry. Everyone complaining about begging for money or some downfall of gaming or some other shit shows how they actually haven't the slightest fucking idea about game development.
@Kia04417 сағат бұрын
Ha, no. No one would've bat an eye if it was like that. People are against the hypocricy. HM had proudly thrown in their lot together with SBI, Sarkeesian, Quinn and their woke lot to "appeal to the wider audiences" at the expense of their core paying customer base. And now that the SBI and their ilk are exposed as financial cancer - they come crawling back to normies asking for money.

@iguanasandwich2817 сағат бұрын
If I'm not mistaken, they lost the Gearbox publishing for Hyper Light Breaker and Devolver is involved for Possessors. Annapurna (which no longer exists) published Solar Ash. Finding a publisher for a game is a job on its own and a risky one at that. It's not really an easy task, at all.

As such, we will be setting up a system where all that information is paywalled from the public". I would've respected it more if you guys just said you need the money, just admit there's really no benefit to supporting the patreon apart from funding the game, people would be happy to support that, your reasoning comes off as incredibly hypocritical.
@JWishnov15 сағат бұрын
It costs time and money to document the process of development, and the primary purpose of this is to help HM fund games. Offering a deeper look into the process is just an additional incentive, and it's from their unique perspective and place in the industry. Your comment is ridiculous.
@Xamp12564 сағат бұрын
@@JWishnov What's ridiculous is the obviously contradictory reason they state for why you should support their Patreon. Like OP said, you don't "spread the word" by paywalling it. I don't think there's anything fundamentally wrong with a studio trying to fund it's projects via Patreon, but I can't respect this weird, blatantly dishonest spin they put on it.

@DrWellRoundКүн бұрын
Well, ESG was the only way to earn money during Covid. workplaces were shut down, stores were closed, and you could probably tell a lot of game development studios didn’t have the best of luck. However, if you were a company like epic games, you could earn money that way, but part machine didn’t really do games with the NFTs in them. So they probably had to because that was considered one of the only ways to earn money during that time. Nowadays, I don’t think that having a consulting company like SBI won’t be that useful to have since it only damages a company’s reputation. I myself would not really trust consultants, unless they’re people who actually give constructive feedback instead of opinions.
