Today myself and Dave Outdoors walked section three of the multi day route called the 'Heart of Wales Line Trail. We walked from the end of section two, Bucknell using the Heart of Wales Line train service to get to the start. Todays route is 16 km (just under 10 miles) finishing in the town of Knighton, Powys.
The views from Stow Hill and down into Knighton from the Offas Dyke path were spectacular but unfortunately 40 mph winds as you will see meant that we weren’t able to use the drone on this one.
**********COMPETITION**************
Head on over to ‘Dave Outdoors’ Channel. / @daveoutdoors . And comment on his part three video of this route. Leave the words ‘Heart of Wales Line Trail’ in a comment and also make sure you subscribe and you’ll be entered in a draw to win a Heart of Wales Line Trail Guidebook.
I’ll be giving one away on the next section video so stay tuned for another chance to win!!
We intend to tackle the whole route over the course of the year and will make these videos as we go to hopefully encourage others to do the same.
This is a new walking trail that utilises the beautiful single-track railway route that runs from Shrewsbury all the way down to Swansea. The trail officially starts at Craven Arms and is 144 miles long to Llanelli in South Wales.
See the Heart of Wales Line website here for up to date timetables: www.heart-of-w...
Please visit the Heart of Wales Line Trail website for more information. www.heart-of-w...
They also have a facebook group for the trail which you can join: / heartofwaleslinetrail
There you can download the GPX files for your navigation device. My preferred method is to use an app called Viewranger which you can download onto your phone and the route is also available on there.

There is also a Guidebook available from Amazon so please see the link below

It is lovely. The walk up from Bucknell was a lot tamer than we thought. Having that train link makes so much sense. I hope it takes off.

Hi Dave, you stayed at our holiday cottage in Knighton last September. I presume when you shot this footage. I have really enjoyed episodes 1 to 3 and look forward to a continuation as they unfold throughout 2020. The cottage now has full time tenants in, but our 4 berth annex is still available for bookings throughout the coming year, and we are just about to go live with two double rooms at our B&B. We will continue to offer our rescue service, when walkers miss their train, etc. Great job, it is even tempting us to follow in your footsteps. Cheers, Martin.

Morning Martin, Gordon here, I don't think it was me that stayed there but I will ask Dave. Thats really useful to know about the accomodation. send me some details (gordon.j.jackson@gmail.com) and I will mention it in the next one. Love the 'rescue service' . Might need to take you up on that at some point!!! Al the very best, Gordon

Dave, without publicly transmitting your surname I am at a loss. I watched your videos and then recognised you, or was it your friend Dave C?. So I plugged that name back into You Tube and got alternative versions of the same footage. Maybe the internet is just being silly. All that cookie nonsense. Anyway, I will email you, to clear up the mystery.

@@martintaylor9204 Morning Martin, I don't think that was with of us, Ive had a chat with Dave and he hasn't stayed in Knighton either. We only walked this last weekend and all the footage was from there. email me those details though and when we walk the next section which is from Knighton we'll mention your place and people planning the walk from further afield might like to book? Best Regards, Gordon.

Gordon, thank you very much. Our guest accommodation is called the Bunk House Annex and it can be found on Airbnb and Booking.com. It offers self catering for up to 4 people for a base price of £60 a night. I am quite happy to offer lifts to and from Knighton to Kington, Montgomery or Craven Arms, which enables guests who are walking the trails to stay with us for up to 3 consecutive nights. When you are next in the area you must pop in for a brew.
