the song ''Falling away from me'' is a direct followup from this video if your interested then you see how real they are with topics. edit warning with the song Daddy ppl will suggest that really fast and scare ppl away from korn cause thats not a song its a expression of pain. worth it to listen to but its the darkest song i ever heard. but check the wiki on that one.

Yeah I'm gonna add to this, this is a real warning, don't go into it blind unless you want a real honest reaction to it. It's HARROWING. Seriously. Like, TW for child sa. Guy went through it then sang about it and legit breaks down while it's recorded and the band keeps on playing. You have been warned, I hope you read your comments
@TheBunnyb0y

Yeah as much as i like a honest reaction without research, these peeps are right, mostly agree with the "scare away" part, i wouldnt suggest listening to that track too early, but definetly react to it at some point.. Fair warning though its a bit difficult

@TheBunnyb0y I like an honest reaction without research, but Daddy is not a song that should be reacted to without research. Firstly because you do need to be prepared for that song. Secondly because it's not a song where you have to go searching for the secret hidden meaning (you could read into "when I awake" at the end, and how there is a religious undertone of that song and the main song, and how they fight each other. Or you could read into how "when I awake" is about waking up and seeing a face, and how a lot of survivors of child SA will relate to being woken up in the night). But the rest is not very hidden message kinda lyrics. I do think it would be interesting to hear a therapists thoughts on this song, but that's because it is such an important song for me.

I watched a video about “daddy” in particular, apparently the band recorded all the instrumental bits to the song and Davis did the vocals last and told the band NOT to interrupt it, they had absolutely no clue what the song was going to be about and were crushed when he broke down

@user-wt2zo6xd6f I think the band didn't know that the song had such meaning to JD, but they had played and recorded the song together before. A version of Daddy is on Korns demo "Neidermeyer's Mind". The demo version is quiet different, and not as emotionally charged (to put it mildly). So I think the band knew what the song was about, but until it became obvious that the song was incredibly personal to Jonathan, they had no idea of the significance.

@@FurlongStrongPersonalWell, Twist is a testament to what she was saying, because as Life Is Peachy was rolling around, they (the record label) wanted a song that they could use as a single, no swearing, inoffensive, simple beat, oh and do that cool scat thing you did on the first record etc., so Korn wrote and sent them Twist, which is entirely just Jonathan doing scat and saying Twist in the middle and end over a funky beat. 😂

I can’t wait for you to watch “Falling Away From Me”, it picks up immediately after the end of this video. Fun fact the series of numbers at the end of this video is a direct reference to the master disk serial number for the Freak on a Leash album. Fitting that the song is about his experience with the music industry and the sign at the end says “No Trespassing” followed by the reference number for the studio’s master copy of the album.

Interesting thoughts about the scat singing part! The stuff about creation reminds me a lot about Kurt Vonnergut's famous quote, that goes something like "Practice any art, […] no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what's inside you, to make your soul grow." As a therapist, I guess it would be interesting for you to check out Korn's song Daddy. But be aware, it's about child abuse, and it can be quite traumatic for an unprepared listener. It's extremely intense, to say the least!

Wow! I’ve made a living as a caricature artist for the past 17 years, and you made me think about the act of creating in such a different way 🤯 I always feel the most at peace and confident and present when I’m creating (whether it’s drawing, photographing, making music, video editing, writing, and whatever else grabs my attention), and it’s really gotten me through life even when times are tough. I see creativity as being the fire of life, even though most people don’t think of themselves as being creative. We use creativity in forming a unique perspective, building relationships, and creating a life for ourselves❤️

Korn, like so many metal bands truly speak about the feelings of our lifetimes... Why they're so powerful and so beloved by us metal heads. I was wondering as I walked my dog if you have reacted to working class hero, I'd recommend the greenday cover because the power in that is always more than the original to me.

I’m so glad I clicked on this video. For one, badass reaction and analysis. Not too much pausing, just taking it in and for two I feel like I just left a great therapy session. I really got a lot out of what she said. ❤I should just paying my psychiatrist and just watch her videos lol
