As someone who had a bike injury and was told by the doctor to stay off outdoor biking and running in general for three months, this episode is really inspiring. I’m on my way to recovery and doing some brisk walking now. I hope to be back in full form by February and GTN has been an inspiration all around for me. Thank you.

I fractured my ankle on Christmas Eve so this was good timing for me.

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to rest or take it easy when you think you might have tweaked something, but it's alot better than risking a longer term outage with a developed injury.

i almost had my leg severed below the kneed from a careless driver end of 2016 whilst cycling. had a cut through my calf muscle in to the bone. I had never ran before then, but within 6 weeks i was walking (on crutches) aroubd 10 to 12k daily - in stages. I was actually doing run walks a few weeks later and less than 3 months after my first run I managed a half marathon. Running did become an addiction though - sometimes 2 marathon distance runs a week, plus at least 12k a day through commuting and inevitably I got injured about 3 weeks prior to the 2018 manchester marathon. I was foolish enough not to try and rest and recover becasue i thought that i would lose all of my acquired fitness, plus the fact that i had paid for the race ..... and i suffered for it. the first 5 miles hurt so much, but then i no longer noticed the pain until mile 12 when i got cramp in my right legs. I stretched it out and ran slower for another ten miles when my other leg cramped for a short while, then with the finish line in site, perhaps 200m away, both legs cramped up at the same time and i sort of just fell in to the barrier as i couldnt move. so ... if you are injured, dont be a fool like i was. take the time to recover properly.

I've dealt with IT Band Syndrome a couple of times, and Tendinitis a couple of times (wrist, and hip)... The main thing is to make sure you look after yourself!! Patience is the hardest thing, but is very important.

I call this patient endurance. In the long run following the recovery program is important as the regular training program.
