@Ranguvar1310 ай бұрын
Aurora 1000 + subwoofer 😎 But seriously, a subwoofer is mandatory almost regardless of speaker in my opinion, and in a small room you may be able to get away with the Aurora 200 and a sub
@jameslarson227710 ай бұрын
Depends on the sub. If it is a typical $500 sub, I would go with the 1000s. But if we are talking about a higher performance sub, the 300 + that sub. Another very good option would be two decent subs + the 300s, then you could use a higher crossover point.

Polk R700. Good response and dispersion like the Aurora 1000s, but better dynamic range in bass and lower bass extension. Also better build quality. If you are looking for affordable towers that do not need subs at all, the R700s are great. @@ronniehosein7384

Gene, Please could you do a piece on streaming digital transports, as those seem to have an exceptionally high ectoplasm content. Numerous reviewers are claiming that different digital transports connected to the same external DAC, via an asynchronous USB cable, can somehow ‘sound’ different. They cite all sorts of woo, such as low noise linear power supplies and extremely expensive clocks as being responsible for the ‘improvement’, which they variously attribute to a reduction in jitter… As a computer scientist and audio engineer this bullshit just boils my piss. They’re listening to a stream that’s crossed the Internet to reach the streamer… a stream that’s negotiated the telecoms network and pass through God knows what en route, and claiming that the power supply in the transport somehow improves the audio fidelity, and that the clock in the transport (which isn’t even participating since it’s being clocked by the DAC) is reducing jitter. Jitter that they claim to be able to detect with their ears.

Hi, I upgraded my amplifier that supports Dolby Atmos by choosing the Yamaha V6A, which delivers 100 watts per channel. I paired it with Heco Aurora 1000 as front speakers, then I tested the bass with this song Bass I love you on you tube ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXrMl5SneK2Fibs ). Unfortunately the Yamaha V6A was unable to deliver enough power to satisfy the Heco Aurora 1000, when the song squeezed the bass the speakers stopped emitting sound in bursts. I had to do the bi-amping, and then the bass was perfect like the sound of the Heco Aurora 1000. Now I'm afraid that the bi-amping of the Yamaha V6A gives too much power to the mids and twitter and enough to the bass. Do you have a suggestion?! How can I reduce the watts towards twitter and at the same time increase/maintain the bass power of the Heco Aurora 1000? Should I buy an external amplifier, if so which one for the twitters or could I buy new small Heco AM 200 speakers to connect them to the existing bi-amping wiring for the Heco Aurora 1000 twitters?!
@jameslarson227710 ай бұрын
That Bass I Love You song is throwing most of its bass way below the tuning frequency of those speakers. It's a bad demo for speakers that are tuned above 30Hz. Most subs couldn't reproduce the low end of the notes in that song. The problem you had with the intermittent sound drop-outs was probably from the amp clipping. Bi-amping probably didn't solve that as much as you think. My advice would be to buy a sub, and maybe run it at a 90 to 100Hz crossover frequency. That will alleviate both your Yamaha as well as taking a load off the Heco bass drivers. Absolutely do not combine the wiring for the Heco AM 200 speakers. Do not ever wire any other speakers along with your main speakers.
@ArchangelGabriel10 ай бұрын
@@jameslarson2277 Unfortunately I have to contradict you, Bass i love you with Bi-Amping Heco Aurora speakers 1000 sounds perfect, the song is fluid without delays. I did the test with high volumes, at the -5db volume of the AV receiver the speakers starts to have problems, increasing further the vlume, shots become more frequent, but with bi-amping I have no problems, i solved it, in fact this song never gave me problems before Heco Aurora 1000, then I concluded that 230 watt speakers cannot be powered by a 100 watt per channel amplifier, setting up Bi-amping i have solved the problem. I believe that a 700 euro speaker should sound better than a 100 euro one, I have to hear it perfectly while playing the horrible songs and I have to hear it pure listening Hi Res songs. Bass i Love you is a good test on high volumes, now I'm worried about the mids and the twitter, with the bi-amping they receive too many unnecessary watts and I'm afraid that risk to burn
