I don't know about everyone else's experiences... 🤔 But I hope the electronic warning for Tailgating doesn't actually flash any rear lights on the motorcycle as a warning precaution for someone behind you driving a car or truck!!! I've literally seen bike riders simply and quickly brake check the driver of a car behind them... And The driver of the car immediately become angry and the entire situation becomes a Very Serious ROAD RAGE incident which seriously endangers the person riding the motorcycle!!! I remember back in the early 1990's where I actually had to put my car in between a Motorcycle And Some Pissed Off Guy driving his car, (to the point where I was almost having to physically push the car away from the Motorcycle) The guy in the car was literally trying to side swipe the guy on his bike, simply because the bike was forced to Brake Check him because he was Far Too Close, Aggressive and Unsafe, for the guy riding his Motorcycle!!! I truly think that the warning for anyone riding a Motorcycle should only be a warning on the Dash of Motorcycle, and never actually flash the rear lights to warn the vehicle behind!!! I felt like I had to share this story with everyone because it could have cost the guy on the Motorcycle his life, if I hadn't been driving my car that day!!! Just Sayin'🤬

I really wanted to like Indian but they need a Ride Command system unique to Indian and not shared with Polaris products, it looks so grafted on and visual appeal of a motorcycle also applies to the dash the rider looks at all day in their ride and this is where Indian loses its appeal to me; fwiw the previous generation Road Glide had the same issue. However the real issue with Indian is their pricing versus retained value. I used to laugh because even the local Indian dealer preferred to take a Harley as a trade in than an Indian to include one they sold. That preference told me all I needed to know. What I did like is having the liquid cooled motor in the new PP Chieftain and slightly redesigned dash. I want to see that Blue Dusk up close but fortunately two of my favorite Indian colors the Red and White Smoke are both options. @ I've got one in the shed. I've owned several air cooled bikes and several air cooled VW's. And I worked on air cooled piston aircraft for a bit under five years. As much as I love them, the reality is that clearances can't be as finely tuned as a liquid cooled engine, leading to higher emissions. Oil cops a real hiding, too, and power output is restricted by the engine's inability to dissipate heat as well as their water-cooled counterpart. Then there's longevity, arguably. Ride them while you can. They're not going to be here for ever.

I understand what you're saying having had a sport bike for 20 years. I now have a 2021 Road Glide Special. Love the bike, plenty of power for over taking cars. I don't have any issues with the air cooled engine at all. I see why Harley sales more bikes than any other manufacturer despite not halving the latesr tech or the fastest bike

I'm not saying that this will happen but! I can see a scenario where some people with sports cars could turn that rear collision warning into a game. Btw I'm not huge into guns but that muscet there on top is neat :)
@GROGU12311 күн бұрын
The rear radar will likely work like the front radar on my car. It'll look at the distance, velocity and deceleration rate of the car or bike behind you. Deceleration distance can be calculated from velocity and deceleration rate. Distance = (velocity^2)/(2*acceleration) If that distance is greater than the current distance to the vehicle behind, it'll throw up a warning.

As long as i can turn them off, its ok

raised the bar right along with the prices....looked at scout ( a bare bike) it cost more than a dressed out goldwing or vulcan nomad..so they keep indians

All 3 new features are BS when is Indian coming out with the new self riding motorcycle like the cars. Can’t wait for that one to go along with the blind spot feature , the tail gating feature and the anti lean feature now I can take a snooze while cruising oh boy .

Sadly Indian still didn't knock the ugly off them. I mean dang the inner fairing looks worse than the interior of my 97 f-150 and don't get me started on the side panel area 🤮
@TimMcPeck11 күн бұрын
Yep, that side panel area has always been an issue with me on those bikes. It just seems cheap looking and closed off. I was hoping over time that they blended it out somehow.

Indian is simply copying Harley.

Still have not changed that cheap plastic look and the motor is not appealing in anyway.

I agree, an aggressive human nature will conflict things by pushing the bike beyond the technology the bike is equipped with, making more of a mess.....Respect for your life and your machine will be spared... for a period of time?

I give them props for being the first to put all liquid cooled motors in a big bagger. Some people just love the “soul” of the good ol air cooled and that’s why Harley hasn’t done it yet. But they and everyone will have to sooner or later. Harley is squeezing some good numbers out of those newer M8 offerings. But this sport chief rt? Come on now. Another blatant copy of a successful Harley offering. About the same ridiculous price and same value.

Prime example of someone that does not know what he talks about " But this sport chief rt? Come on now. Another blatant copy " No need to be jaleous. If anything, indian forced harley davidson to step up their game, and you should be thankfull for that.
@mickeygaines00711 күн бұрын
@ it’s so obvious what Indian is going for with this new sport chief it’s not even funny. I think I know perfectly well what I’m talking about. Harley did great with a shark nose, lo and behold what rolls out of Indians garage. A way uglier version. Low rider is a hit, next we know the sport chief is rolling out. Now this. I gave Indian credit where it’s due. They should have done the power plus bagger and stopped
@mickeygaines00711 күн бұрын
@@lexburen5932 I do like Indian and appreciate that there is competition. They are keeping Harley a bit honest anyway even through both brands are way high priced. But yeah it’s their fourth or fifth knock off of a Harley product that was doing well. Surprised they didn’t slap a big fairing on the sport chief yet to copy the low rider st, I’m sure that’s next.
@LARGO12511 күн бұрын
@@mickeygaines007 so obviously you think Ram and GM shouldn't make pick up trucks then. I mean, Ford did it first, so anything GM or Ram does to compete is "just a cheap knock off" right?
@mickeygaines00711 күн бұрын
@ difference there is Indian keeps doing it, and unlike a truck which is a general thing, Indian keeps taking these specific things that are on Harley’s and slapping them on their bikes (and they don’t end up looking near as good as Harleys) after Harley has success with it. First it’s a street glide knockoff, then a road glide, then the low rider, then they throw bags on their sport chief and are like ohh look what we got 😆
