I have a Maverick 8:1 with 16lb Sniper on my KA744C. I have been slaying some deep schools of 16"-18" bass stroking a NetBait Big Bopper with 1/2oz. Usually getting 35 to 40 fish twice a week.

I've gotta say, if Dobyns would reverse the locknut and grip I think they would sell a lot more. I find lots of people, including myself, really prefer to have a grip in front of the reel. Especially with the amount of other good value(and higher end) spinning rods having the locknut on the back side of the reel and the grip in front. It provides better balance while holding it and more leverage, so its benefits aren't superficial. Until this day comes, I'll only get to enjoy their casting models.

Solid points, with so many preferences on how people grip and hold rods, there will never be one perfect rod. Might be something for Gary to try on on series of his rods I guess

Love Dobyns rods with shimano or diawa reels . I really need to upgrade some rods . Really like Sierra , kaden and champions . Dobyns rods feel like much higher dollar rods than they are .
