Hellfire Engines are used by devils in Avernus to fight in the Blood War. Hellfire Engines have astonishing destructive capabilities and can spray caustic acid, shock foes with lightning or a thunder cannon, or simply run them over and crush their bodies.
I suppose my only question is: what happens when they run out of fuel? Soul coins, maybe?

I used them recently, they hit fucking hard, especially if there is 3 of them… they do have a problem in the size though, blocking the way of each other.

I'm about to throw this against my party or 6 (3 level 9's and 3 level 10's) and am debating giving it legendary actions. Letting it take another hellfire action or move 40 feet additionally each turn. Also I'm going to give it 3 "prisoners" mounted to it Mad Max style, that it can consume the souls of to recover HP and refuel itself with essentially

It's there any kind of equivalent construct that fights on the side of the abyss?

There is, but it's not pretty. Rutterkin roam the Abyss in horrifyingly large packs and convert those unfortunate enough to get bit into Abyssal Wretches that-in turn-can transform into other forms of demon.

Why didn't you talk about how this breaks the Pact Primeval in that it can turn the most LG saint into a LE Lemure thus robbing any and every god of their followers with simple slaughter- no corruption or "choices" necessary?

A very fair question! My understanding of the Pact Primeval is that Asmodeus needed to leave the Upper Planes and was allowed to take corrupted souls for torture into Baator. The gods who signed the treaty noticed fewer souls started appearing in their domains and discovered that Asmodeus tempted mortals with evil. Due to the wording of the Pact and Asmodeus's coveted, "Read the fine print," my understanding is Hellfire Engines technically don't violate the terms. Please feel free to enlighten me if my understanding of the Pact is mistaken :)

5e has not "updated" the Pact as of this posting, but I believe it doesn't break the Pact to _tempt_ mortals with evil (specially since he constantly needs new recruits as the demons are ever spawning) BUT another thing entirely to remove their _choice._ No temptation, no choice, you just kill them and they are a lawful evil slave in your personal army forever- no matter how good they were previously or their choices or who they serve before. Do you see how such a machine when taken to the logical extreme could literally be a engine of creating devils out of any humanoid regardless of alignment is a bit cosmologicaly questionable? You might as well have a "devil bomb" which when dropped on an army of good Heroes unleashing Hellfire that turns them all into an army of lawful evil slaves. Still don't see the problem here?

Oh and for clarity the packed primeval is when the gods at the start of creation seeing all this chaos decided that the way to do something about the chaos was to create law and asmodeus was the one who came up with creating punishment for those who broke the law. Therefore so long as good people didn't break the law they would not need to be punished, the fact that he tempted people to break the law so he could punish them and thus swell his ranks was simply a loophole that God had not foreseen. This does not technically Break The Pact but it did anger the gods enough to cast him down into the lowest layer of the nine Hells suffering wounds for which he still has to this day. Now how do you think they will react when he can simply just kill them and he has them to punish forever, no laws broken no concern for any laws at all only punishment and all he has to do is slaughter them. See the issue?
