That suprised me as well, I did not make that assumption. To draw out Obi Wan is to take a child of a good friend. That is the play and it was smart. If she knew who leia was, she would have brought the child to anakin, at least thats what I would do

@@MarieS610 it's because we as the audience know the relationship between Obi Wan and Bail with everything involving Leia being Anakin's daughter, so our first thought is "how does Reva know who Leia really is?". And it takes another minute to realize that in the star wars universe it was publicly known Obi Wan and Bail were friends so it's only on that premise that Reva would target Leia because Bail knew Obi Wan. It's on second thought that it becomes apparent that Reva doesn't actually know the full details

Third Sister does NOT know Leia is Anakins daughter. Because then that would mean Vader would know his daughter is alive. You know rationally Vader doesn’t know, so rationally you can deduct that Reva was talking about how Obi-Wan fought along side Bail Organa. That’s who she’s referring to. Leia was easily captured because all Reva did was contact some bounty hunters and told them to go to the castle on Alderaan and capture the girl. Flea watched her for a day and just waited for the right moment to abduct her. In the next episode it’s explained a bit more as to how Third Sister knew about Obi-Wan’s connection to the Organa royal family.

Yes, the Third Sister's plan was simply kidnapping Bail's daughter to force Obi-Wan to help since she knows they're friends from back in the day and not only is Breha the queen of Alderaan but Bail is an Imperial Senator and would probably prefer to keep his daughter's kidnapping out of the public's knowledge. Leia's true lineage is unknown to all but Bail and Breha, Obi-Wan, and Yoda at this point.

Obi Wan going and rescuing Leia makes Leia's recorded message in a New Hope " Help Me Obi Wan you're my only hope." More meaningful and powerful, as Obi Wan rescued her as a little girl and out of everyone in the Galaxy when she captured by Darth Vader; she trusts he will be the one who can rescue her again. It also sheds a light on her disappointment when Luke is the one to rescue her on The Death Star. As when the door initially opens and she perks up (most likely expecting Obi Wan to be there) only to give a brief sigh of disappointment as he didn't come. She only really warms up to Luke when he tells her that Obi Wan did indeed come and that he and Han were with him.

27:02 - Kenobi said "Obi-Wan... Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time..." to Luke in ANH. Considering this show takes place 9 years before that movie, that line still makes sense in the context of this show.

The line continues: "I haven't gone by the name of Obi-Wan since, oh, before you were born." So... I'm going with the rationalization that his initial reaction was that he was taken aback that the name of Obi-Wan was coming out of _Luke's_ mouth, despite multiple people calling him Obi-Wan in the years prior. Also, Obi-Wan is an acknowledged manipulator and twister of words! He's the king of "from a certain point of view."

I think it made perfect sense that Obi Wan would leave Tatooine for Leia. He was protecting Luke but both of Anakin’s kids safety was important to him. Since Leia’s safety was compromised, he knew he had no other choice but to attempt to help in her rescue. They showed in the beginning that Uncle Owen was very protective over Luke and really wanted Obi Wan to stay away. So Obi Wan knew that at least for now, Luke was being watched and taken care of while he slipped away. He just had to hope he would be safe until he returned. Even though the Inquisitor’s arriving did make his decision to leave even more difficult. But I think Leia’s kidnapping was more of an urgent matter so it’s understandable he would help rescue her while Luke was under Owen’s protection.

@Lauren Lewis Obi-Wan did a ton of "truth stretching" in Episode IV, what's one more. I did misremember though as one of his next lines was telling Luke he hadn't gone by Obi-Wan since before Luke was born, which can still technically be true as he is only referred to as Obi-Wan by others, whenever asked he says his name is Ben.

Reva was the very first youngling we see. She is also the one who says, “We run.” I think that small group of younglings managed to escape the Jedi Temple, and began living in the streets. For some reason I think Reva’s hatred for Obi-Wan is tied to the fact that he changed the homing beacon in the Jedi Temple. It may have seemed like Obi-Wan had sent out the initial recall message, but later changed it to flee.

nice one, forgot that Yoda told him to do that in order to protect the Jedi in the outer rim and on other planets. To those who found out he did this with out knowing why, would definitely make them think Obi Wan abandon all the remaining Jedi and younglings in the Temple. Yeah it was a cold calculated decision to make but at that point they knew they couldn't save the Temple and everyone in it. Still curious to see who save Grogu....wait a damn minute..

There were around 10,000 Jedi when order 66 happened. I think a couple hundred survived the attack across the galaxy and have been in hiding. Plus not to mention anyone who’s force sensitive being born after order 66 and don’t even know they are Jedi yet. Luke was training a new generation of Jedi so it’s safe to assume that there’s always going to be Jedi spread across the galaxy, and when not being hunted by the empire their numbers would eventually rise back up.

We already know why Vader told Luke, “Obi-Wan once thought as you do.” We saw this play out on Mustafar. Obi-Wan did not go there to kill Anakin, and even told Yoda as much. Obi-Wan went to Mustafar with the intent to turn Anakin to the light, not kill him. Instead, he was met there by Darth Vader, one who was “truly lost.”

@@genghisgalahad8465 Here is another subtle point that is easily overlooked, but the Kenobi series should have made it more obvious. Obi-Wan views Anakin and Vader as two separate people. Obi-Wan is willing to kill Vader, but cannot bring himself to kill Anakin. Obi-Wan went to Mustafar to turn Anakin back to the light, but he encountered Darth Vader, instead. This time around the script was flipped. Obi-Wan set out to kill Darth Vader, but he encountered Anakin, instead.

RE: "Does Obi-Wan know that Anakin is Darth Vader?" -- in the recap at the beginning of the show, they showed the clip from Episode III where Obi-Wan watches a hologram of the Emperor 'knighting' Anakin as Lord Vader. So, he assumes Anakin/Lord Vader died on the lava shores of Mustafar.

Reva is the little black padawan from the first Order 66 scene. Inquisitors were former Jedi and younglings turned to the dark side. Reva likely hates Obi-Wan for not being there to save her during Order 66. She tells the crowd the Jedi abandoned them, because feels the Jedi abandoned her.

This was such an awesome start to the show, what really surprised me and my wife is how similar Vivian is to Carrie, she completely understands the sassiness that Carrie gave to Leia and even at 10 years old you can see the leader and icon of the galaxy she will become, seeing Ewan again after nearly 20 years is so awesome to see and you can see how much closer he is getting to the first time we ever saw Obi Wan (Ben) Kenobi in A New Hope

I found this way too slow, even for a first episode. Just putting some familiar stuff on my screen, doesn't cut it. When the nostalgia wears off, you're just left with the quality of the show itself. So far, I'd say it's not a patch on The Mandalorian, and even Book of Boba Fett was better. I was bored out of my mind in places. But meh. It's only a first episode. It could end up being great.

It's really hard to blame Owen, he wants Luke to live and have a decent life. And it's true what happened to Anakin...from a certain point of view. Either way, there's a certain amount of truth to his accusation toward Kenobi, he trained Anakin, but it wasn't enough to save him. Leia's actor is perfect, she looks like she could be a young Carrie Fisher, and she's already a great performer. We shall watch her career with great interest.

all the third sister knows is that leia's dad was a known associate of obi-wan during the clone wars, she's gambling kidnapping the kid will draw obiwan out to help his old friend since bael probably wouldnt want word of his daughter being kidnapped to become public knowledge. a bit of a stretch but it makes enough sense. I havn't watched episode 2 yet but i like that the inquisitor that has the obiwan obsession is the one that isn't in other star wars shows, that means she's expendable and can/will likely die at some point

Ben said that he hasn't been called Obi-Wan in a long time in episode 4. There are years between this time period, and episode 4. Reva knows Ben because she was one of the younglings at the beginning in the order 66 escape at least that's what New Rockstars is reporting. She may feel the Jedi abandoned them, and allowed this to happen.

Is it the early signs of force abilities? Probably. But the writing has been really good. Loved both episodes.

I just started watching this video, and during the recap, you can literally see stars in Steven's eyes. He has the wonder of a child, the smile of someone who just realized SANTA IS REAL. And I love it. I'm the person who wheeled herself so fast my nephews wouldn't keep up with me (I'm in a wheelchair) when I saw a life-sized BB8 on display at a comicon. I'm the one who timidly asked the guy if I could take a picture with the droid and he told me "You can hug it as long as you don't bump it off of the table). It became my favorite picture. So, Steven, I love it. Seriously.

Good start so far and I like they set it up on where everyone is at like an introduction. I was not expecting a young Leia but that was nice to show where she is at. The beginning gave me chills of the flashbacks. Nice touch.

But its just ep1.

After Ep 2 Leia instantly trusting Luke after hearing that name makes sense! and the later scene of luke mouring Obi-Wans death and Leia comforting him make her character even better. She's a Princess and a spy, she knows how to keep herself in check.

I thought Ewan McGregor was solid but everything else was poor. Get The Mandalorian team to fix this and do not let Kathleen Kennedy near Star Wars. A few examples: - Forest chase scene. I could walk faster than Leia was running. The actors/chasers were trying their hardest not to catch her too soon. - The Reva character is not an intimidating antagonist at all. Her acting is half baked and stale. - Grand Inquisitor looks like something you would expect at ComicCon. - Crack head they picked up off the street to kidnap the princess is just embarrassing. - Ben doesn't sense Leia or that the Leia decoy isn't even a living being? It was like de-evolution of the Star Wars films. Hopefully the series will pickup and have some non-Disneyfied Star Wars moments, but I'm not optimistic.

This just reinforced the problem I have with Star Wars in general. There are no stories which move the universe forward. It always looks back. So I know that even if Vader confronts Obi-Wan personally, it isn't going to really matter because we know Obi-Wan goes back to Tattooine and Vader doesn't know he's there, or know about Luke or Leia. I'd rather have stories which are new and fresh. I've heard they're finally starting some of those, but it's going to take awhile.

@@aaronboone8097 Funny enough, they didn’t try to get away from the OT. They were the exact same except the sequels had pacing and development issues to the tenth degree. In fact, that’s one of the biggest criticisms the sequels get: they’re too alike to the OT and filled with OT fanservice.
