So glad that you enjoyed this Randi!! This is back in the earlier days of Helloween, and Michael Kiske is the lead singer here. These days both Kiske and Andy Deris sing together (as on the Best Time song you reacted to -- Kiske is the bald guy), but its still easy to tell them apart. Kiske is usually the cleaner vocal (and almost always the highest ranged vocal), while Deris is the gritty vocal. All that just to say that when Kiske sang the word "Ignorance" at the super high note... I knew a Good Grief would be coming! Lol Specifically, they don't mention the 6th sea, but that's where the "Disease" part comes in making it likely its the Sea of Disease. At the last sea... Satan is literally sitting there threatening the person that if they throw the final key... They'll basically be tortured eternally. Its all an effort to try and "save his own ass" (lol) at that point. Depending on who you listen to, this song might be about Jesus, or just as simple as Good vs Evil in general terms. Regardless, it remains an amazing song some 35 years after it was written. Sorry to have rambled on Randi, but thank you so much for the reaction!!

This is likely one of the best metal songs ever done! So many people that love metal, have never even heard of Helloween nor Keeper of the Seven Keys. This is a true ride you go on listening to it. Just kick back and let it take you on its journey!

This is Power-Metal from Germany. Singer Michael Kiske was only 20 years old when Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 2 was released Unfortunately, drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg took his own life in 1995.

Thank you for reacting to my favorite band! If you enjoy their music, welcome to the journey, lots of amazing things are waiting for you to discover. About the band - one word - amazing. Lots of line up changes but what’s certain is that we have almost 40 years of amazing music and their latest self titled album from 2021 was a blast all over continental Europe, the UK, and even the US

Terrific reaction. Thank you! The singer was in his twenties then. Unbelievable. "Voice miracle of Germany", 3 octaves or so. The storyline reminds me of "The Pilgrimage" (John Bunyan) and "The Lord of the rings" (Tolkien). Musically I call this song the "Bohemian Rhapsody of Metal", due to the sophisticated arrangement and changes of melodies, sounds and rhythms. It was presentable in my youth, and it still is today (a few decades later). Timeless music. Greetings from Germany! 😊

Kiske was 17 when that song was recorded, if I remember correctly.

@@Lonestar1430 This album was recorded in 1988. Kiske was born in January 1968. So he would have been 20 when this was recorded. He was just 18 when they recorded the first Keepers album. Which is insane, given his vocal proficiency on that album.

@@FzNd michael himself at wacken with unisonic said that he was 19 when they did this album or it was more specifically a song from the album, dont remember which one

The best song from their best album. I saw Helloween live in Chicago in 2018 and it was spectacular. They played a full 3 hour set . It was phenomenal.

The REALLY best present I EVER EVER EVER gave away and still enjoy with my hole heart : My younger brother was just 13 years old and was confirmed in the church in 1987 so I gave him a life-changing present at his party ! Bought 2 metal casette tapes and copied it all with the Helloween stuff and some with Iron Maiden. Then I bought 2 tickets to a concert : Iron Maiden with warm up band Helloween. Packed it in a big picture frame. Then he had 3 months before the concert. No further comments :) ....... After the concert he truely said that he wished to stay in the first row instead of sitting at the balcony :) Ha ha ha ! Also had a friend which life was highly destroyed by hearing especially the Helloween LP "Walls of jericho" from upon his room where his older brother heard the hard tones from metal and punk. This was just untill my friend suddently digged the music and vipes. I also watched a friend going from aggressivel behaviour when first hearing the track "Master of Puppets" and later in the track to be a HUGE metalfan and sooner a great and true LP collector ! Hail the hordes and stay thursty :)
