@@pedroferrari1 I just saw this comment after posting mine....exactly the same thoughts. Not sure about the US market, but the Australian motorcycle market is a bit flat at the moment and since the V4 release, all previous models have been going for bargain basement prices. But I plan on keeping my 1299S for ever. Prices will go north soon enough, and then I still won't sell it. I do desperately need a second bike so I can continue to keep mine in showroom mint condition.

I'm in the exact same predicament. I've got a 1299S. It's a stellar track bike, an awesome canyon carver, but a downright horrible commuter. I'm planning on getting the Multistrada for two up riding and adventure biking. I've got a 1980 CX500 cafe racer for actual cafe racing. Don't sell the 1299 though. I sold my 916 years ago and never forgave myself. The V4 is great, but do you really need more power. It's a better bike on paper only (IMHO) - Get a chopper if you're EZ-Riding - Get a cafe racer if you're going cafe racing. - Get a cruiser if you're into lazy long distance riding (don't get a cruiser) - Get an adventure bike if you're into canyon carving off roading adventures (get the Multistrada!) - Get a supermoto if you want to be a hooligan. - Get a dual purpose of you live on a farm.

Hey moto dutchman, quick question i recently picked up a 2015 1299 with 5800 miles on it on a private trade. Im kinda confused about the revlimiter/redline. Many times i’ve found the limiter coming in at 10,000-10,500k with no activation of the shift lights. Whats the deal, this is with the bike fully warmed up “although it is very cold out still”. A few rare times i’ve noticed the bike rev further and activate the shift lights. What is this about. Why wont my bike always rev all the way out. Why is my rev limiter coming on at 10,000-10,500, is this normal? I thought as the engine coolant temp shows a number above 50c the bike should rev all the way out. Am i missing something?

I went through the same process you're going through now about a year-and-a-half ago. I sold my bike and bought a Tuono 1100 Factory. I settled on it after 8 months of research, finding that it fit my needs perfectly. It let's me do long trips to the Tail of the Dragon with friends, comfortable everyday riding, and I've done several track days with it. If you have some of the same priorities (I think track days would be great for your stress levels!), I would strongly consider the Tuono.

Glad you are back and doing well! I have to agree with the consensus on keeping the 1299 and picking something else up. I'm a sport bike oriented guy and the bike I ride most is my S1000XR. Comfy ergos with sportbike performance. The XR is more then likely going to be updated for 2020 model year and with the impending Multistrada V4 you might want to wait and see after EICMA. Cheers!

Agree with the others saying not to sell the 1299 - due to recent (read: last 18 months) developments, it's turned out to be a pretty important bike in the history of Ducati. You've taken such awesome care of it that I could see it giving you some pretty sweet options in 5+ years... So, since you'll still have that supersport, grab something different! Supernaked (Tuono, MT-10) or your ADV bike (GS, Multistrada, etc.). Great to see you back! Totally understand the "Work + Kids = Less KZbin"-math...happens to the best of us ;-) Let us know what you decide! (I'd get the Tuono!)

Yit would be cool to mix it up with Italian and German aspect videos. That said if you can afford to keep the 1299 it’s a no brained.. just looking at my 1299 makes me smile. I’m never selling mine . Plus it’s last of “v” twin!! Lastly congrats on new addition.. you can put one girl on the Italian bike and other on German bike 😉 P.s m spec is 5,000$ cheaper than the V4s and exhaust system is 2200 for tit arca pipe on Bmw vs losing yr left but to buy a v4 exhaust... Pss.. lol How many miles on your 1299 now? Ciao in bocca al lupo 🇮🇹

Keep 1299 if it’s paid off! V4 R is delicious but it’s like $50K with the good exhaust. Maybe one of those touring bikes might be comfy. I’ll be considering a V2 S or Corse model if/when they release one. The wings on the V4 are too much for me and I wouldn’t mind downgrading from a 1299S so long as the V2 comes with the same Ohlins/forged wheels... and without the wings!

With the kind of riding you seem to be doing, get the Tuono 1100 Factory or wait until the Streetfighter V4 drops. Don't keep the 1299 unless you expect to be riding it. If you don't know if you will and don't need the money, keep it for a little while but if you don't ride it, sell it. E.g. the 1198 base models are far less valuable than the 1198S models. Whatever you do, don't get a 1290 superduke, the suspension, engine and frame is just not up to snuff when you've ridden the 1299.

The Multistrada matches up with the features we all love about the Panigale - insane torque, the feeling semi-rock star status while riding & superior maneuverability. Then it goes above & beyond: I’m shocked how comfortable the bike is. The rear top case means I don’t have to carry a helmet around constantly. Closing in on 200 miles per tank, less maintenance, better visibility, no neck fatigue or wrist pain, keyless operation, cruise control, phenomenal headlights and finally.. 8+ hour riding days with zero pain or stiffness afterwards Downsides: The Pikes Peak has a manual shock adjustment. For touring, I would 100% recommend the S with the electronic suspension... The S needs a wrap or decals, as the fairings look awful imo. I recently finished a 6k mile journey in July. I had to adjust the rear spring a lot depending on if I had the top/side cases attached & loaded. It’s not as sexy as the 1299, but I got a TON of compliments all the time. On an open road, I would regularly push the 1299 past 150mph. The Multistrada isn’t a speed demon with a max speed of 130ish, but you’ll get there QUICK! I’d also add a steering dampener. The front end feels like a dirt bike. There is almost no resistance turning the bars side to side. With full bags + touring screen + wind, the bike will give you some headshake that can be terrifying. You have to ride

Moto Dutchman If you’re considering leaving the Italian twins behind, I’d also consider the Kawi Concourse. I’ve never felt a more planted bike on the highway no matter the conditions. The ride height is much lower than an adventure bike & equally comfortable. I forgot to mention that the Multi does ride high. I’m 6’1 & sometimes can’t always flat foot the Multi! I still prefer the Multi for the cool factor, cruise control & incredible headlights. No matter what bike you buy, invest in a Corbin seat. It’s worth it’s weight in gold & makes long rides more enjoyable.

@@Dutchman0 Monster is another option if comfort is a factor. Absolutely epic bike to ride. I would prefer naked Ducatis over supersports any day of the week. definitely easier to ride and full of crazy and yet controllable power.

Keep the 1299 and make it a dedicated trackbike !! :-) Think about it... that is the last of the Ducati V-twin superbikes. The 1299 is the most powerful production V-twin ever made !! Beyond being awesome it is already a living legend. I foresee the 1299 becoming a very desired bike in coming years. BTW, Here is a recent trackday vid at NCBike, Garysburg NC. Trackday #7, never imagined I would be running at this pace in Intermediate group. Now, only if I can freaking learn how to edit a vid like you youtuber PROS !!! ----------> --kzbin.info/www/bejne/inu0q2eqnbxgeM1h-

@@Dutchman0 Mehhh... finally learning good body position. Now I'm having to relearn how to steer the bike hanging off dragging my knee. (pros make it look so easy) The only true way to exploit bikes power and performance. Down side, it's very taxing on the bike and requires more maintenance. Also highly addictive ! Looking forward to seeing your new ride !

@@Dutchman0 If I were considering buying something with a more upright rising position, that's what it would be. I currently own an R1M and considering a second bike as well. Thinking I might go with the V4S though.

Dirt bike? Why would you replace a 1299 for a dirt bike. Keep the 1299
