So I henna'd on Sat and I just loved my results!!! The application process was very easy and I got both the conditioning and color effects that I was hoping for. I was a little nervous throughout the process since it was my first time, but the henna was well sifted (red raj), had no twigs, mixed well, looked a little bright orange when I first applied, but after four hours, the color came out beautiful; a nice deep red. You have a permanent customer.

@RoseBlood77 Tea is a matter of preference. We like tea since we tried it and lemon juice is in there as well. It's about 50/50 of each. We also use tea water because it's traditionally what is used in India and we didn't want to use 100% lemon juice as some of our clients say it made their henna itch and become irritated by it so we reduced the amount of lemon juice and received no more complaints. Cloves does deepen and darken and add a beautiful scent as well. The recipe is up to you.

Jay because we get henna powder that is already triple sifted. Sometimes there are still little bits. So for us, we strain it through nylon stockings after it's made as a henna paste and it strains much easier. I love it !

Thanks Sreeja for your suggestion. I've been doing henna for over 7 years now professionally love :) I never have issues with clients due to us not using eucalyptus. It's not one of the most popular choices for EO currently being used in North America. Mostly cajeput is used, or lavender EO. Thanks again!

hello again Khadija, Ok so I made a batch of this recipee yesterday using your rajistani henna. I followed the directions pretty much exactly, other than putting it in a very slightly prewarmed oven And I must tell you, the stain is more than amazing, I will definitely use gloves next time when straining because i made a total mess of myself. I loved it, the paste is a awesome texture and the stain is remarkable, instantaneous. I am anxious to see the final stain. Thanks so much again!!! :)

@beruang30 That's up to your pesonal preference. I don't add sugar as the Organic Rajasthani indian henna makes it stringy enough. I also don't really want a stringy henna paste. Some people like the sugar because it helps it stick to the skin more in certain regions as some states or provinces or even countries have more humidity then others. It's up to you and what works best for you :) Enjoy!

Just wanted to respond to the person who recommended NOT purchasing a kit. First of all, purchasing a kit for a beginner is the best way to go because you are learning and using the right ingredients and tools. As a beginner, it's very important to know what you are using, why and doing it safely. As you gain more experience, it's fun to begin experimenting with what you like for tools, recipes, etc. As with anything, learning the basics is essential to becoming a successful henna artist.

Hi Shannon. Henna is a plant where the leaves are taken from the henna plant, dried and then powdered so that we can then mix it with a liquid of our choice to use for body art temporary tattoos or for naturally coloring your hair. I hope this helps.

Hey everyone! We didn't get a lot of these comments for some reason. Sorry for the delayed response. Yes it's not a secret anymore :) It works with using these henna powders. I don't always add sugar but sugar is optional and because we use lemon sugar spray afterwards it's fine too.

Yvonne, thank you!! Such a great comment. For Hawaii, it's more of a dry heat there right? Just want to make sure. Usually you can start with 2 tbsp of powder and then add a bit of molasses to your recipe, about 1/4 tsp of molasses. Add your liquid at the same time. Each powder absorbs liquid differently so add a very tiny amount of liquid at a time. Then later once you've let it sit 3-4 hours you can add your 1 tsp of EO, and then let it sit another 3-4 hours or as needed.

@brinicol You could, but you won't need the lemon juice and the essential oils aren't essential for the recipe for hair usage and lastly a big thing, is that the dye release will be half the time of this recipe. You may want to check out our other videos as well for more specific hair recipes. Enjoy!

The essential oil is still diluted enough to be safe to use on skin. The purpose of certain essential oils like lavender, cajeput, eucalyptus, and tea tree is to give the henna a darker richer color. It's called terps, so you use the EO's to terp your henna paste so that the stain is much darker. Please note I used about 6-8 tsp for 200 grams of powder which makes about 60 henna cones. I hope this helps!

Our henna powders with the above recipe would come out a very gorgeous dark reddish-brown, like a maroon tone. For someone people it might come out more brown sometimes as it also depends on skin chemistry.

Sauda, your paste on skin should dry in 10-15 minutes. Sometimes in hot weather a little faster. The newer batched of those henna powders need a bit less time for dye release. How long did you leave yours out for dye release? Right now we recommend only leaving it out 8-10 hours max. DO you add sugar to your paste? You can add this to especially if you live on the west coast.

Very good result and brilliant but i have a question Why that much lavender essential oil require? 30ml bottle for henna (8 teaspoon) I was informed that a drop is effective for healing so essential oil have strong impact. Henna smell full of lavender instead of plant. Do we will have same result by using less amount? I am worried if any one get reaction becasue the amount is too much in this recipe. Although i know essential oil are safe but too much of anything can cause side effect.
