HENNA MY 4c HAIR WITH ME IN 2022 | DOES IT AFFECT CURL CLUMPING?

Here's an update on how I do my henna applications in 2022. I still love the purple to copper red highlights it gives my natural dark brown hair when light hits my hair. But I couldn’t keep up with my monthly dyes because of time.
It's all natural and I don't need to have my hair professionally bleached. If you crave for chemical hair dyes, you better stay away from henna, because it will give you a hard time getting your hair properly lifted for a chemical service.

NOPE. Not getting rid of my Henna. It grew my hair to the bottom of my bra strap...Don't know what length that is...but I got it cut professionally over a month ago. The last person gapped up my hair so badly I was never going to get my hair cut again by a stylist...I did this because she was a free promotion. And nice as well! Oh, and she was natural. I never have to worry about harsh chemicals again. BTW...got my henna stewing right now waiting for me for tomorrow.

How long was your hair before using henna ?
@rashida7777
@rashida7777 4 ай бұрын
Shoulder length. But was difficult to grow past that. Now with consistent moisturization, it is mid back easily. I will try derma rolling to thicken it up a bit. In about 3 more weeks will re-henna my tresses. And it is not as messy as perms. I have done a henna job in an ivory chair and no mess. People exaggerate everything. Also, companies don't want you using it because they lose money. I have beautiful deep red fire highlights. AND it makes my hair manageable. My daughter effed up her hair with some blonde crap. It wasn't the color I disliked...it was just a poor color job. It wasn't the right shade for her. Truly, not everyone should be blonde. And when she saw mine she regretted messing up her hair. But she is too stubborn to cut it off and start over.@@iside2373

@@rashida7777 That's really great. I always hear about people saying it's too messy and breaks their hair but it seems it depends on the quality they use and how. How long did it take you to go from shoulder length to where you at now ? And did you apply it every three weeks or every month ? Because i heard it shouldn't be applied too much, and would It change the color of black 4C hair ? I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions that I would like to start too.

@@iside2373it’s only too messy when you make your mixture too watery and or your working on hair that is too dripping wet. In my experience, I had the easiest time when: working on freshly washed hair and hair that is pre detangled. Should be applied like a hair mask and slightly re wet your strands with a spray bottle if needed. I leave henna on my hair for 1 hour and get amazing results. (Some people do 3-4 hours but that’s too long for me).

I use to henna my hair and yes it was a process and at the time I really enjoyed doing it. Then I used it for coloring and yes it was messy but again I didn’t mind but the color didn’t last long enough . I am so lazy even the one hour in the shower shampoo conditioner and styling I am wanting out. Cantu did really good with the styling!

Thanks, yes I totally feel you. I also don’t like spending too much time in the shower doing my hair. When I compare it to my son’s hair, everything goes so much faster, but I would not want to switch it, because we do have very unique hair. ☺️

Your hair is beautiful! I use henna also...usually only about 3 times a year though, and mixed with other herbs (amla, fenugreek, brahmi, etc.) But have used it for years..no problems.

@justKKB

@RabielleParfait full applications only, and I usually don't mix it with conditioner but I have done that occasionally in the past. Because I mix in the other herbs, I just use a tea (green tea, hibiscus tea, etc.) or water or coconut milk to mix with the powders.

You really have wash and go hair! Your hair clumped during every stage from shampoo to henna to conditioner to styling product. I see wavy s and z pattern and coily o pattern. What percentage does your hair shrink? My hair shrinks 40% to 50%. I also have a mix of s pattern and telephone cord curls. I don't stretch my wash and gos because the shrinkage makes my low to medium density hair look more voluminous so I love the shrinkage. Have you ever done a cream wash and go?
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait Жыл бұрын
My hair shrinks up to 80% 😀. So depending on what styling products I use, you never see the true length. I’ve done a few cream wash&gos in the past, but they don’t last, aren’t as defined and look more like a curly fro. The creams/oils/butters don’t have enough strength to hold the clumps together and it tends to sit more on my hair. When I compare it to my son’s hair structure, his hair strands tend to absorb creams better, since he is on the silky side. Completely water based gels just do better with these tiny coils. ♥️

@@RabielleParfait I use creams and mousses for wash and gos. I get elongation and volume at the same time and my wash and gos last 2 weeks. Based on your explanation regarding your son, now I understand why my hair reacts well to creams. I have a silky surface texture although I have type 4A hair.

Here’s another update on my henna hair. I truly hate it when products get discontinued but they can be still bought all over the place. 😅 I used the Cantu discontinued gel which is too lightweight for my hair alone, and their styling Mousse for this washngo set. I truly wonder why this txtr line was discontinued, I’ve never heard of it before, but the shampoo & conditioner was great for the price range. It was also free of the main ingredients I usually avoid. The conditioner was very lightweight, had great slip, not too overly scented and it foams up pretty good when used with water. Definitely better as my drugstore hauls a few years ago. But yeah no more review adventures are coming with discontinued products 🤷🏾‍♀️😅

Does ur hair tangles after rinsing off the henna and deep conditioning?
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait Жыл бұрын
No, it doesn’t really. Not more than without henna. Avoiding tangles in tight curly hair isn’t possible, there’s always some strands that coils up into each own. In the past I just braided or twisted it up without products and let it dry and set for a couple of days. Then did a co-wash and detangled. These days I just follow up with defining my curls with botanical gels.

How often did you use henna before stretching it out ?
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait 5 ай бұрын
How do you mean it? There are time periods where I henna a lot to less. I’ve been hennaing my hair for over a decade at least once a year. It depends on how much time I’ve got and how fast my hair grows out. Now, I try to henna at least twice a year. If I henna more frequently like every 1-2 months, I now focus more on henna glosses with conditioners and my roots. I’ll share an updated henna routine soon, right now my hair is twisted❤️

The results depend on your natural colour. The lighter your hair the brighter and redder the henna results. The darker the hair, henna will only give you copper to purple highlights in light.

A lot of tight curl specialists heavily advise against using henna, as it can cause severe permanent damage to the hair, even if you don’t notice it. Just something to consider! Also not good if you follow clean and simple hair care.

You’ve got to reeducate yourself on henna before making such a blank statement. Didn’t they teach you to do more research before believing things or has the powers only shifted. Instead of believing what the internet says and following what the majority does,it’s the age of believing everything what tight specialists say? And can you define a clean & simple hair care? Because if you really know what a green & clean lifestyle is, you would know that henna is not a chemical treatment like a colour service hairstylists do. Bleach lifts your cuticles with a high ph to get the melanin colour out of your hair, before a new colour is deposited inside. Tight curl specialist is a relative modern profession that wasn’t around 10 years ago and I did not come across it until summer 2021. I’ve been colouring my hair with henna longer than this and it clumps, curls, retains moisture and has no issues that is directly correlated with henna. Where do the majority of the tight specialists live? I guess United States right? So it’s not the entire world. I btw live in Germany, Europe with highest safety standards when it comes to cosmetics. There are also professional hairstylists here that do henna colour services. And you can buy everything I hope you’re telling me not that the entire world is walking around with damaged hair. That’s why I don’t follow every tight curl specialist here, because I can’t support a business or organisation that is completely against the way I do my hair. As simple as that. I’m btw doing my hair before social media made tight specialist popular. And people have been defining their curls and not calling it wash&go before the internet made it popular. Cheers to your clean & simple hair care. I respectfully stick to mine😉

There hasn’t been near enough scientific evidence to prove that it damages hair and it was irresponsible for ‘curl specialists’ (🥴) to say that without any backing. Can henna be overused? Yes, but that’s not the plant’s fault. If these ‘curl specialists’ really want to dispel people from using henna, they can put in the work and pick up their research degrees whenever they’re ready. Til then, they can just stay in their lane and do wash n gos.
