Here's how I do my monthly henna applications on my natural hair. I love the purple to copper red highlights it gives my natural dark brown hair when light hits my hair. It's all natural and I don't need to have my hair professionally bleached.
Also let's have a quick chat on natural hair influencers and hair stylists. I feel like a lot of natural hair influencers are being wrongly demonised for doing what they did for years: Giving reviews about natural hair care brands and sharing their hair journey online! If it wasn't for them and other hair enthusiasts in online forums and hair blogs, we would definitely not be where we are today and we would certainly not profit from the growing variety of hair care brands specializing in afro textured hair. We should really acknowledge this and not start to create devision!
Here is a link to my blog post about the Maximum Hydration Method where you can find the links if you're further interested: rabielleparfait.com/2021/10/1...
We're still underrepresented! So come on and join me for some type 4c natural hair love.

My hair loves henna. I've been using it for years and it has helped my hair reach waist length thanks to Curly Proverbs. I also like to make henna gloss treatments. I think it's better to learn how to care for and do your own hair.

This is great! May I ask what kind of hair texture do you have? Is your hair tightly coiled like me or more loose? I’ve seen posts on IG and videos here stating that henna damages our hair strands snd that it works against curl clumping. 🤭 (Not true I know)

You're right! This is my first time ever using just warm water and aloe vera powder in my henna powder. My hair was so soft after rinsing out the henna! This was "before" incorporating my moisturizing conditioner! Can't wait to apply my next henna treatment.

Hi everyone, here's a detailed video on how I do my monthly henna applications at home. I usually follow up with a herbal hair tea rinse mixed with very small amount of oils and essential oils that won't affect the outcome of my washngo and it will also not repel the water stream while I'm rinsing the hair tea out. Most of us naturals are quite heavy handed when it comes to product applications, oils and butters. Using less to rarely when needed is the key to better hydrated hair strands. ❤️

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It is challenging when you have no access to a professional licensed curly hair specialist. I am in a slightly more accessible area and still run into challenges finding an experienced cut it Kinky hair stylist. We are all just trying to do the best with the resources we have access to at the time. I have never tried henna and will likely not because I personally like my hair color at the moment 😅.

Yes, it’s absolutely challenging and often very frustrating. But we should also not forget that there are many natural stylists around that are specialised in other hair styles if it’s not washngos people prefer as their main styles. ☺️

Thank you so much! ♥️ Reminds me of my second big chop journey in 2015. I started with a henna mask. And my hair is still thriving in 2022.🙂 Just make sure to not over do henna and use it as a treatment once a month with warm water. No fancy oils, teas and lemons. Your second big chopped hair with like it! ♥️

Wow thank you so much! 🥹 I go by the definition of my hair actually. When it’s covered and coated with enough products, it stretches out into wave patterns and feels slippery smooth. Since henna washes out and fades away quickly with my hair cleanses of 1-2 a week, I cover my entire hair. I’ve had no issues with buildup or my hair not clumping. I buy my Henna in Germany from Olga Engelhard (Henna und mehr), it comes from Rajasthan and organic. Have been ordering there for 10 years. ♥️

I used to hate henna because it made my hair thick , I have 4c hair and I just want longer not thick hair 😭
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait Жыл бұрын
Wow my hair doesn’t get thicker with henna. The majority of my hair is very fine. But then work on your length retention! 😘 Henna can’t help you if, it’s constantly breaking. Have a regular hair wash routine where you also clarify from time to time. Get your ends trimmed to start fresh and always detangle your hair with conditioner or slippery products that is high in water/humectants. Don’t neglect the hair wash. 😊

@RabielleParfait

@@Ruaa.7 Also think about getting your hair trimmed. Together with a regular hair wash and good products, it should stop breaking and grow past neck length. In the night, cover your hair with a satin scarf or bonnet to protect your hair. ♥️

Is the secret to henna leaving it to process. I have used it twice, just by mixing it with warm water and applying it immedialtely. Unfortunately for both times. It all washed away. Would you know where am going wrong please!?

A very informative video and l have 3 questions for you. 1- l am 60 years old do you think my hair will grow at this point in time? 2-can l use henna and rice water at the same time? 3- can l apply water every day? Thank you.
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait 9 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! ❤️The first question is difficult to answer since I’m not a dermatologist, trichologist or licensed hairstylist. Hair growth is correlated with so many factors from genetics, age to diet. Without knowing your hair’s history and touching/seeing your hair, it’s difficult to give advice. Henna doesn’t grow hair in the first place. But it can help with strengthening and if you find your individual way of proper length retaining, you will see the “growth” in no time. Because hair grows no matter what age (slows down with age) but the question is, if the growth coming out of your scalp isn’t breaking off the same time. 2: I wouldn’t mix henna and rice water together. When we look at where rice water comes from, these women in China & other Asian countries use Rice Water as a natural shampoo & conditioner alternative. But henna is a hair dye & strengthening treatment. I would wait at least a week after henna to rinse your hair with rice water again, so that the henna dye molecules can settle into the hair. Rice water is nothing that should be left inside hair. I know many do this online, but it’s not the way to do it traditionally. It should be always rinsed from your hair. 3: You can wet your water every day but the question is why you want to? If you have naturally curly/coily hair maybe try to add products that contain more humectants into your hair care regimen every wash day. It will retain the moisture better together with emollients. The steam from the shower is also great or a spray bottle to mist your hair to make it pliable/flexible is also great. Unless you want to challenge yourself and do daily “conditioning” hair washes for some time, I would not entirely wet the hair every day. 🙏🏾

It’s pure organic henna powder with no additives. Depending on your natural colour it can give you copper highlights in the sun or it will turn blond hair into a deep fire red. So I didn’t buy a specific henna blend. ♥️

So if you use henna do you still do a protein treatment or just deep condition
@TracyD2
@TracyD2 3 ай бұрын
You can do a protein treatment. Not in the same week of course. Henna isn’t a protein treatment so your hair will still need protein. Of course it depends on how damaged your hair is. Some people do well with only using a conditioner with some protein in it on occasion. On the other hand some people need a strong protein treatment like once a month. Henna does strengthen the hair but it’s not a protein treatment.
@R_bird117
@R_bird117 2 жыл бұрын
So henna on hair is just like getting a protein treatment? I thought it can be used to change your colour?!
@RabielleParfait
@RabielleParfait 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dear, it's actually not a protein treatment, the way the active ingredients bond to the hair strands make it similar to a protein treatment. Henna molecules don't enter the hair strands the way chemical hair dyes do. So henna doesn't need bleach to strip the natural hair colour in order to deposit a different hair colour. it just bonds the outer layer. If your hair is very light to blond/white, the colour will be a very fire orange red. If your hair is darker, you will only see copper to purple highlights in the sun.

@@melaniemorgan9236 It truly depends on how light your hair is. I’ve got naturally dark brown hair that lighten in summer from sun. You only see my henna highlights in the sun or with extra light.
@denyshadials5702
@denyshadials5702 9 ай бұрын
@@melaniemorgan9236 No and that’s a common misconception about henna and coloring hair. A modern coloring process is dime with bleach to remove the color that’s already there, so the new color can be visible and vibrant. There is no bleaching/color removal with henna. The henna stains or overlays the color that is already present-usually brown for us. So brown + red or brown + orange is the resulting color for your hair. If anything it just looks deeper and richer than your original color. You won’t see the stain except at the right angle in the sunlight. The more layers applied over time, the richer the stain. Hair that has been treated once or twice looks nothing like hair that’s been treated consistently over the course two years. The change is gradual. Henna is a lifestyle, chemical coloring is a convenience.
