Hi guys Kamp here, I saw a lot of people asking if im a smurf, definitely not, bought the game 16th october precisely 😊 I didn't talk about my previous gaming experience, but i played a LOT of league of legends, cs go and world of warcraft at a decent level so i know how to use a mouse and a keyboard haha But my macro / game sens and knowledge is the big problem as you can see in the last arena 😂 Thank you again Hera, i learned so much! I will come back next month!

This video is probably the best aoe2 video I've ever watched, and I've watched a LOT of videos. I was glued to the screen the entire second battle. It takes incredible nerve to hold on despite the massive onsalught and then go on to turn the game around. Its also fascinating to see how the way Hera thinks. Hera displayed true character and wisdom, always encouraging his students no matter how desperate the situation gets and always knowing exactly what to do in any given situation. Even when Kamp is floating like 6000 resources in food and wood for 30 minutes Hera still doesn't get annoyed or command that he spend it, he always nudge him towards the answer. Truly a great video.

I really like this method of coaching from Hera. I watch a lot of survivalist coaching and he tends to kind of put the people he’s coaching down a lot. Sayin stuff like look at your army what is it doing? It could be doing so many other things instead of standing there. Compared to Hera who very nicely says that he needs to get the scouts into the base faster and explains that he barely luckily slipped in on time in that game while also complementing the good things that the player is doing. Very good video 👍

That is arguably a better way of teaching, what survivalist does. Ask someone what they're doing wrong and have them think and realize it, instead of just telling them what to do. Sinks in better when you figure it out.
@Whokare

@@justinayers3589 100% also when people feel respected by the teacher it makes them more open to learning and understanding. If people are rude and critical when they teach it tends not to synergize as well for the learner. Edit: oh I misread you. I disagree Hera’s coaching is superior. However I watch and learn from both. Hera let’s the player learn on the spot he isn’t just telling them what to do he’s leading them through the process.
@hallwayraptor2036

@@justinayers3589 In my opinion, pre-match and drills is the time to be a hard ass, question the student, make them think. During the match your coach should be your friend, cheerleader, fan, and gently keep you on track. People don't reason well under pressure typically, and having Hera and his audience watching is a very high pressure situation for a newbie. Obviously if it was another pro player training for tournament play, then Hera could be more demanding during a simple ladder game since that would be low stakes for that player.

Hera totally nails a big human factor principle: Avoid negatives. EG: "dont drink while chewing!" = you focus on not drinking, but maybe stop chewing is an option... ultimately you miss both targets. "Drink after chewing!" = you get the order to chew, finish and drink imediately after.

Viper got me into competitive aoe and he will probably always be my fav because of that (and for the many other obvious reasons people love Viper lol), *however* I have to say, Hera might be the greatest thing to happen to this community. Imo, tft hes a younger top tier talent and showing his generation this game to continue aoe living on for years to come, along with his surprisingly great personality, Hera making consistent content is just massive for this game's comp community. I hope he never stops making content. I also love how diverse his videos have become with different series that all either entertain by showing high level play, or teaching the game. I think the biggest thing Hera has over Viper is how well he teaches. I think of all the top players I've watched teach people, Hera is probably the best all around imo.

A few points, it is hard to pick anything out of game 1 but when placing walls people have a tendency to house wall the front and palisade the back. This is often a problem if villagers are not near the back walls to reinforce. When walling look for potential good spots for TCs. In the front there was a good TC spot (adjacent to gold and wood) but a house was built instead of a palisade wall which could be taken down for a 2nd TC. In the 2nd game, why did you (Hera) tell him to take the back gold? It is situational but with him booming, his civ being better in castle/early Imp, one would expect early pressure, possibly all in. He could have had a few hundred gold before migrating to the back gold and it would have helped if the opponent did not tilt. I thought he did a great job bringing his scout back through the side gate to protect his mangonel. I would have gone with more monks than skirms initially because, the monk counters knights and war wagons. Although, Hera might have been looking at low gold. It would have been good to show him how you can notice if someone is going up by the score. All in all, very enjoyable, I am going to recommend this video for my 14 year old nephew who just started playing. Hopefully he can receive some pro coaching someday instead of from someone who thinks he knows a lot.

wow, its so funny because I started playing aoe 2 recently after hours and hours of watching streams from you and other players/casters like t90 and viper and the only ranked match I ever played it was actually against this player: kamp, he was actually playing britons against me and made archers but it was like almost a month ago so maybe he changed his strategy :) my nick ingame is V. (at the time because now is Pipapaparopo) and it was a funny game hope someday we can meet again, I am not sure of my elo because well I only did 1 ranked game on my aoe 2 de carreer I remember you wanted to rematch with me but I had to leave and I was so sad to not add you to friends since I dont know nowone who plays this Hope I get a message from you kamp

Are your more strict about leading the player with commands and tasks the player or are you still open to suggestions/questions when they asked you during the coaching? Do you think different styles of coaching/teaching significantly affect how the knowledge is shared?

Holy crap... this game got me thinking about Hindustanis... kinda like persians... but not... hmmm _> Umm, Skirm, Camel Rider, Siege Elephants? I mean, you know, with a couple monks hanging in the back, fast castle it, going GOLD HEAVY (mining and grabbing relics early), then in Imp you can supplement skirm, camel, ele with hand cannons and BBCs?

Well...the definition of smurf! Hera congrats you are the best teacher out there (along with StArk) and happy to see you at the top officially too! Just a heads up: After the elo nurf of all accounts, at 1000-1200 elo range there are only 2 types of players. The smurfs and the players who are like blue player in this video. Also a good indication of not set elo is the victories/loses ratio. A new player will never have 30% victories over lossies. Unless you dicovered the new HERA!!! lol. This player is a 1150-1200ish player pretending noob! The mechanics he used (especially the blocking of scout) shows a player who has spend months studying and practising!

Nah bro, he might not be a smurf but he clearly played aoe2 alot. I played wow and pushed mythic + keys and did mythic raiding and also played dota and i'm a maniac at using active items + using Earthspirit, Ember, Invoker etc. that require fast thinking, nimble fingers and situation assessment that does not even come close to LOL that he played. I played some games of aoe2, watched some vids, streams and strategy openings and i don't have this control yet in aoe2. He clearly played more aoe then he admits. He could also have practiced alot vs AI to extreme and then started online and claim he is new. There is zero chance this guy is new to the game.

Tbh this was the perfect to watch as a new player. Just downloaded aoe2 last weekend. And I was struggling with a lot of the same things as kamp. Havent started with ranked yet but this is giving me to confidence to start playing it! I haven’t watched a tonne of content but I’d love to know if he’s still playing and what elo he is at

I dunno how anyone could think he smurf .. he got very good early dark age but now he has to improve fuedal then castle age rhem imperial. His start on arena in dark was ok but his castle age imperial age was absolute mess and Hera telling him to keep going and telling her m make units absolutely saved him. I still believed he would lose because he was so bad .. Hera was actually interesting to maybe know not to tell him too much info. If i was coach I be like stop vil product sell wood get imp now LoL. I would been idle vils idle vils . Getting imperial when he float so much resources near cost him the game. Absolutely this prove he us a new player. He has got dark age veey nice and he just continue and learn fuedal and castle age then imperial he will continue to improve. Learn the idle vil button learn to control army like skirms on stand ground vs war wagon so they dont run in die castle etc. He would absolutely lost the arena game with out Hera reassuring that he can win. Good to see new players 😊

I think hera would do him more of a favor if he would help him to develope better decision making instead of doing the decision making for him. His imprssive micro wont bring him further without good decisions.
