Poor Hades. One of the few decent gods in the Mythos, yet because of his job, he's always painted as a bad guy. Your job and/or appearance always gets you labeled. Same with Frankenstein's monster. Very few people know that the original creature is actually very intelligent and speaks perfectly fine.
@Redster37 ай бұрын
@@michaelparham1328 Fun fact: _”The Rape of Persephone”_ isn’t the same definition of "rape” nowadays, kinda… It also meant to be pillaged, robbed, and/or kidnapped, being hostage against your will. It still sounds *horrible* (and it is), but as far as the mythology goes, it was never directly specified he s*xually assaulted her, so bonus points? 😵💫🤷🏻♂️ Zeus and Poseidon are the legitimate rapists that should be arrested for their crimes. Hades needs therapy because he and Persephone luckily had a happy ending, which never happens in real life.

Not my favorite of the Musker/Clements films (as I enjoyed Aladdin more than Hercules) but I do prefer this over _Pocahontas_ in terms of ranking the renaissance films, but the soundtrack and the voice acting were my favorite parts of the film. Also Megara is voiced Susan Egan who played Belle in the original Broadway production of _Beauty and the Beast_ and voiced Lin and Gina in the English Dubs of _Spirited Away_ and _Porco Rosso_ along with Rose Quartz in _Steven Universe_ and Hercules is voiced by Tate Donovan who played Joshua Burgin, the love interest of Rachel Green in Season 4 of _Friends._ Finally Andreas Deja is the supervising animator for Hercules and an interesting story was that Deja was originally offered to be the supervising animator for Hades given his history of animating the Disney Villains Gaston, Jafar and Scar, but Deja wanted to do a different character and asked he can do Hercules instead which was a shift from his previous characters he animated Gaston, Jafar and Scar, all villains. In fact Hercules was Deja’s first non-villain he animated since King Triton. Hopefully you do a reaction to _Aladdin_ as it has _Robin Williams_ involved as the Genie.

Hades wasn’t forced to become “The God of The Underworld” or the “Lord of The Dead”. After the Titanochamy (The War of Olympians vs Titans), Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades drew straws to see who would rule which domain and spheres. Zeus won and drew the straw that granted him title of “King of The Gods and Heavenly Skies.” Poseidon drew and won the title for “Ruler of The Oceans & Seas”, as well as “The Great Earth-shaker” (God of earthquakes and tsunamis). Finally, Hades drew and won his appropriate title. Hades was also “The God of Wealth” because he has access to all the rare gemstones, treasures, and metals beneath the earth, including also fertile soils and wellsprings. He *won* if you ask me.

@@ДжесикаИванова-б8ф Hestia was the firstborn female and oldest out all the Olympians, but Hades is the second-oldest and the eldest brother because he was the firstborn son. However, it all depends on who you ask. Hesiod, Plato, Homer, Vergil, etc. All had their own versions and interpretations of mythology. In my opinion, Gaia wouldn’t have given Zeus the title of “King of The Olympians, Gods, and Heavenly Skies” if he went to war with all of her children. The deal was only to overthrow and usurp Kronus for his tyranny, not the entire Titan pantheon. She felt betrayed seeing and feeling all of her children suffer and in misery, wrongfully imprisoned when it should have been just Kronus. That is why she mated with Tartarus and begotten Typhon, the Father of Monsters and Deity of Chaos & Natural disasters. What she spawned could neither be classified as an Olympian, Titan, or Giant, but perhaps a final generation Primordial, an abomination that nearly killed Zeus and almost destroyed the world.

@@HannahB09Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades and Poseidon were born of Rhea and eaten by Kronos in that order. Zeus, the youngest, was saved by Rhea substituting a stone wrapped in swaddling cloth to trick Kronos. Zeus was taken to Crete to be raised in secret by nymphs in a cave on Mt Ida. When he came of age, he became lovers with an oceanid named Metis (later the mother of Athena), who was a handmaiden to Kronos. He convinced her to feed Kronos an emetic potion, and he vomited out first the stone (omphalos, which became the foundation for the Oracle of Delphi), and then his swallowed children in reverse order. Hence Hestia, being the first born and last ejected, was called oldest and youngest of the kronides.

It steams my clams to see my baby Hades depicted this way! Looking at this movie again, through the eyes of an adult that studys Greek mythology for fun.

I gotta start using "Steams my clams" 😂 But I agree, there are quite a few webtoons comics that show him in a more accurate light. Of course there's the big one, Lore Olympus, but I also recommend Punderworld and Mythos Redone. The last one doesn't focus on him directly, but he does appear as a side character!

@@wolfywox I’ve read LO and Punderworld. Hades is better depicted in those webtoons but being a villain works for this movie.

Great reaction! Hercules and Mulan are my favorite renaissance movies!

This movie has so many good one liners but one of my favorites will always be pain and panic treating "Hercules" like a regular name. "Remember a few years ago when every other boy was named 'Jason' and the girls were all named "Brittney'?" Idk why it's so funny but it kills me every time lol.

This movie was for sure a disney creation with greek myths thrown in but they changed everything to make it less dark. I loved this movie as a kid and it got me interested in the actual myths which I think makes it actually great for people to see if it makes them want to learn more.

I loved this one, the music was great. Excellent reaction commentary.

After Phil comes to help Hercules against the cyclops, you can see blood dripping from Hercules’ mouth.

Also Hercules, or Heracles as he was known in Greece, was made a god after he died
@SaraBrightScales7 ай бұрын
Ah, Heracles, named for the glory of Hera in hopes that she wouldn't smite him. Spoilers: she tried to anyways, cause she HERA. He wasn't so much MADE a God after he died, he got seriously wounded and threw himself into his own funeral pyre, burning away his mortal half and ascended to Olympus as a God. If you want to know more about him I highly suggest OSP's video about him. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2KZm4KMeJqepqMsi=U7HardUOo9LeRLUh

Fun fact: when Pain and Panic were pretending to be kids, one of them said "Call IX-I-I". If you know Roman numerals, IX-I-I is the same thing as 9-1-1.

Yeahhhhh this film really does Hades dirty. That being said James Woods absolutely crushes the role.

Even though there are some inaccuracies regarding the real myths, I still love the way the Theoi (Greek gods) are portrayed in this movie. I wish that the Norse pantheon could get the same treatment. So, for the next one, I'm going to suggest a lesser known yet beloved classic: Oliver and Company. A Don Bluth movie he made for Disney before he went on to make his own iconic films (American Tail, Land Before Time, A Troll in Central Park).
@melissasheppard66747 ай бұрын
Speaking of Don Bluth, another one is Thumbelina, if Oscar ever wants to do that one 🌸

Now that u mentioned Tangled….. did u know the theory states Herc was the sun drop that fell. N him having his powers taken away might of made the flower. That’s y mother G knew where it was bc she’s Meg. Hence her mannerisms n attitude towards men
@xejelah7 ай бұрын
That doesn't make any sense. His power is strength, not revoking time. How would his power turn into a sun drop and how would Meg know where it fell? Meg and her have different vibes and mannerisms. Meg is sarcastic and has proven she's selfless. Gothel is selfish and psychopathic.
