This video of Here Comes The Sun teaches you how to play this song complete with tabs and chords on the screen.
This is NOT an instrumental version of the song but is designed to accompany a singer.
This song is in standard tuning with a capo on the 7th fret.
Here Comes The Sun is the classic song written by George Harrison of the Beatles. It was first released on the album Abby Road. Harrison played an acoustic version in the Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. This video shows you how to play the song as an easy version. In the near future we will be posting a link of a harder version with intricate picking.
We have now published a more difficult version for those of you who want more of a challenge in your playing. • Here Comes The Sun - G...

Learned most parts but I'm having a hard time with the bridge. Can't figure out the strumming pattern. Can't seem to learn it through beats or notes. In the Sun, Sun, Sun part is it a 1 down strum per sun/per chord? How about in the "here it comes part"? Help. Thank you.
@quailstudios
@quailstudios 4 жыл бұрын
That part is definitely tricky. There are time changes in the music. At 7:38 I break down the timing into 8th notes. You probably have seen this. It's important to feel the 8th note subdivisions in the music to be able to do this part well. (Maybe I should do a video on this subject?)

+Quail Studios Tutorials thanks for the reply. I wouldn't mind if you elaborated on when to use the dsus2 chord. I think you unintentionally use it at 7:20 and throughout the bridge, also at 1:00 when you are talking about the song structure. It seems like an easy thing I could do to spice up this easy version. Maybe a revised chord chart? Again thank you very much for the video.
@quailstudios

+stuart hagerman Hi Stewart, this version of Here Comes The Sun is the easy version. In the harder version we talk about the Dsus2 in detail. I'm reviewing the other videos that I have on this song now to see if they are ready. I'm so glad that you made this comment because the harder version is in process but it needs some work before public release. I'm going to push Here Comes The Sun to the top of the list because it's long overdue, Make sure you are subscribed to get the notices when we release new videos. Hi Danny, up to this point I haven't produced the harder version video. You are the first person to call me out on this. I will be glad to produce a video for you. It will not have chord boxes on the screen, or explanations about guitar basics, but be aimed at the intermediate to advanced guitarist who knows his/her chords, doesn't have a problem with strumming, and if you want to sing along with your guitar, that will be included. Have you considered becoming a patron here? www.patreon.com/quail_studios Thank you so much for your input and keeping me on track. :)

Thank you for a wonderful tutorial. As it turns out, "Here Comes The Sun" is easier to play than I imagined. Perhaps your lesson made it look easy! I also want to mention how beautiful your guitar is! It resembles a Martin D-45. But the headstock is rounded on the top while a Martin headstock is straight across if I don't miss my guess. Now, I know a new Martin D-45 Costs around $95,000 So I imagine yours must have set you back a pretty penny! So, what make and model is your guitar?

how many times have we heard people say something like - "The Beatles weren't that great - most of their songs only used the same 2 or three basic chords". There is so much more complexity to Beatles music than many people know. Making great music is much more than merely repeating basic chords. It is rhythms and timing and phrasing and well...it ain't as simple and easy as it might seem. Great tutorial video! I hit the like button and will be sharing - also put it in my "watch later" list so I can come back to it as much as I like and need.

Mike from the Art-Of-Guitar pointed out some points that I was not aware of. I think you will enjoy listening to him. Hope to see you around some more. Take care, Hal

Sounds good Kaushik. You can start without a capo. Let me know when you get one. :)

Hi... I'd rather prefer the chord E7 instead of E major. But it's a question of "taste". Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you for this rendering. When you play the version without a capo, are you playing the same chords? If they are different, what chords? It just so happens I'm attempting to transpose note-by-note to key of D ( ie without capo), but haven't converted the notes back to chords yet. I'm wondering if there is another way to get to the chords to double check my transposing of the notes.. Thank you again.

Hi Benjamin, when I took the capo off the guitar I played the song exactly the same. It just puts the song in a lower key. I didn't change the chords at all. I wouldn't change the chords to the song. Just put the capo wherever you want to sing the song and play it that way. I like the capo on the 5th fret.

This is a great tutorial! but what strings are you supposed to upstroke?? That's my main question
@quailstudios
@quailstudios 5 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. The short answer is : all the notes on the upbeats. Do you know how to figure that out?

Thank you Bill for your kind comment and support. I have stopped putting tabs on the screen lately. I can make videos faster that way. Now I put them in my book. You can see the links to get it in the description... just in case you are interested. This is not required. :) Hal

Hello Jorge, I really like playing this song on the fifth fret instead of the seventh fret. It’s a little lower and my voice likes it better that way.

Nice lesson. I was checking different takes on this and I’m trying to nail down that A7 transition. Considering that you spent some time explaining fretting a D chord, you glossed over it but again, you did a nice job. I was also looking to simplify for vocals and in particular, what I could strum rather than pick after the chorus. Another spot was the bridge. I was thinking of it in triplets and your counting helped me refine that.

Excellent lesson, thank you. But, with all due respect, I don't think you need to spend time showing how to play the chords. The image showing the chord is sufficient, as students should know the basic chords before learning a song.
