LSC, if you want to spend YOUR MONEY beautifying your vehicles, don't let what others think or say deter you. Singer is taking old Porches and turning them into million dollar cars. Gunther werks is doing the same and no one hates what they do. I've seen so many people take older cars and turn them into things of beauty. I'm doing the same to my 05 G35 coupe. If more people took better care of their cars they'd learn that they don't have to keep spending money on new vehicles that don't give the same driving experience as a well maintained vehicle with a few years and miles on them. Keep up the good work.

The Fine pad is not as good as the Nanoskin 7 Inch x 7 Inch AUTOSCRUB 7" x 7" Handy Towel which is between Find and Medium. Medium may be too harsh for most cars and Fine just doesn't do the job so well. Available from Amazon with your Prime Membership with 1 day delivery. Why does anyone watching your channel, whom is a car enthusiast feel the need to criticize your paint correction cost of a car you love and enjoy. The car could be worth a dollar and if you love it the cost to make it it’s best is irrelevant. So the car isn’t worth the original sticker price any more and the correction was about $3k. You have brought the E55 to such a perfect level for a car with a cult following anyway. If enthusiasts didn’t pour money into car restoration all examples of historical vehicles would have been lost. I really appreciate the videos you provide along with the information for our mid-2000s AMG cars. Great work!

Completely agree with you James. I have a 2013, 68K miles Lincoln MKS Ecoboost that's worth about $18K. To replace it with a similarly equipped 3 year old vehicle would cost at least $30K-ish most of which have interiors in not as good a shape as my car. So this is a no-brainer. You can get a 1 step kit from Chemical Guys with their TORQ orbital machine for about $160. Still inexpensive, and my wife has a car too so the cost of the machine gets leveraged with repeat usage.

@I'm Mikey Some people want paint not plastic. It's a preference. A hobby and an art form and very satisfying to undo years of neglect! And get the awesome MBZ paint back to life. Would I spend $3,000 No! But then I don't buy my used MBZ for $8,000 or whatever bargain price he spent. My car (Black) is 5 years old and people still think it is 1-2 years old. That's a great feeling you dont get from wrapping.

Also, there is no such thing as clean rinse bucket water. As soon as you put that dirty mitt in it, it's dirty rinse water, so why would you rinse you mitt with dirty rinse water? The best way to rinse your cleaning mitt is to spray it off with your hose set to shower, this will also help power out the accumulated dirt. It really takes no longer and trust me, if you do this, your wash water will never get dirty and recontaminated with the dirt you just pulled off the car, as I can guarantee you it does if you just use a rinse bucket.

I see a BIG difference in the overall shade of silver on that back quarter panel used in the example. Was the entire car completed for this video or just that panel? Or was that specific panel replaced at some point during the car's history which might explain the apparent paint shade difference? Quite an obvious improvement though! Great video, will have to give this a try.

For anybody out there having trouble getting tar off of their car, use WD-40! You spray it on the tar and wait a few seconds and then just wipe it off like magic and doesn't hurt the paint. The really cool thing you can use it on your hinges and lock mechs too, just don't over do it.

I know i'm going to catch a lot of hate for this but a rag with a little bit of gasoline with take the tar off immediately. Now before everyone screams about it ruining the paint, how many times have you seen paint damaged near the fuel filler for as often as lazy people spill on the paint surrounding? pretty much never. The gas rubbed on lightly will only remove any wax/protectant that is there. which you are going to redo anyways.

You've left polish residue in your tip 😜. I used gtechniq on a silver car and your right silver is very good at hiding marks and it was quite difficult to see all the marks. I used half a bottle (30ml) on a large estate and three years later it was like I applied it yesterday. I also find if you use a light clay bar every six months also will help remove any small contamination build up and will revive your beading properties :). Keep up the good work and thanks for showing this as every day is a school day :)

If you use AM details clay bar you don’t need a crappy clay lube and just use water. Great vid. Not sure about $100 as a polisher ranges from $75-500. Then pads, etc, etc. But your right in that you’ve only scratched the surface and there is a deep hole when it comes to correction and perfection. 👍

Just some advice. I own a 2009 SL550 tuxedo black w/light tan interior. It currently has 12.6k miles and is NOT a daily driver. I don't park the car under trees (bird poop, tree sap, leaves), power lines (bird poop), or under tall signs or downwind from them (again bird poop). When I park it in the public, it gets parked in the "middle of nowhere" because people can ding your car and really don't care. The car gets waxed 2x every 6 months as well as care for the leather interior and rubber seals throughout the car. It never gets driven in the rain or closely behind cement trucks, 18 wheelers haulin dirt/sand, or 4x4's that just went mud doggin. My daily driver is a 2009 Sonata with 123k miles on it. Get yourself a cheap daily driver while the Merc sits in the garage. Ever watch the movie Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze?? ....just my 2 cents. One more thing, both cars a garage kept in an air conditioned garage...except for the winter months.

@@ReverendWilliamHenry - true, I have battery tenders (2x), one for the hood and one for the trunk of which both batteries are still factory OEM. I start the car every 3 days to let it warm up and use the "raise-up" switch (2 modes) and then lower it so the hydraulic fluid cycles through the ABC system; I do this numerous times.
@stevej.1428
@stevej.1428 6 жыл бұрын
One more thing; whenever you clay bar, surface prep, or polish your car by hand, you should move in one back and forth direction, parallel to the length of the car (front to back) or in smaller areas where that's not practical or easy - like the back of the trunk - a side to side direction , but in one direction only. Moving front to back, and side to side on the same surface with anything that has polishing or abrasive properties can easily lead to swirls. Even clay bar that has no abrasive properties by itself can swirl the paint to a smaller degree if the clay isn't refolded enough and has particles trapped that are in contact with the paint surface. The only time it doesn't matter in the direction, is if you are waxing with a wax only (no cleaner wax), or a random orbital polisher. I don't even wash my car in a circular/multi-directional motion.
@lIlIANONYMOUSIlIl
@lIlIANONYMOUSIlIl 5 жыл бұрын
@Steve J- You bring up a point. I have seen more than one video say to do a grid pattern. Side to side one direction, then the perpendicular direction. This seems almost as bad as doing circular motion. I think I will take your advice and stick to one direction.

I’m about to do this on my car in the next few days and have two questions. Did you dry the car off after the initial wash and before applying the iron x? Also, did you have any concerns about dust getting on the car after leaving it in the garage overnight after you washed and decontaminated it before polishing the next day? I have a relatively clean garage but I can notice a small layer of dust on my car in the mornings when I leave for work after washing the previous day. I'm not sure but did you use compound as your polish? You mentioned Compound but continued to say you polished the car. Compound and polish do 2 different jobs, compound having course abrasives, while polish has little to none depending on what you buy. You should most definitely say this when showing anyone what you're doing, and the steps involved.

Looks great, I was noticing the quarters on the c55 look a lighter shade, the rear may have been repainted at some point, btw, I say this because I worked in a body shop for many years, so I’m that type of guy. But it looks great!

I do. I hated how my local detail shop left haze in my paint. So I got on KZbin and found Scott from Dallas Paint correction. His videos are extremely informative. I went out and bought the Griot's Boss system and couldn't be happier. Now I'm doing other people's cars and making side cash 👍🏼

I do this at home, and have been doing so for quite a few years. Keeping my cars nice is something I'm fairly OCD about, and detailing is part of that... I take it further than I need to though, as my product/machine collection will attest to. Plus, having worked in a body shop years ago, I've seen just how horrible 'buffing' results in a production setting can be!

I'm not sure but I wouldn't doubt some paint work has been done at some point. It's a clean title, no accident carfax car but you never know. The lighting in the room can make panels on this car look different but I see what you mean. If it was painted they did a pretty good job as far as not leaving sanding marks and things like that

Looks great, Alex! I don't have a heated garage. Plus, our white '13 W204 has some tiny dings in the front bumper. I tried to fix it all myself using SEM products, including a chip protector finish on the part at the very bottom of the bumper, but I really don't like the results. So, in the Spring, the bumper comes off and it goes to a shop for a rework and respray. Sigh. Until then, I'll continue to work on the stubborn tar on the aero body work (it's a Sport model) and hand wax it and polish before Winter. So, all paint correction work and ceramic work will have to wait. That is, unless a local detailer can do it without breaking the bank.
@ndg49
@ndg49 6 жыл бұрын
Well, I stopped by the body shop and they will do the front bumper and make it as new for around $400. He advised me to use a clay bar after using a degreaser on the entire car, to get the bad stuff, then use a quality wax followed by polish. He recommends Meguiar's, which I already use. I picked up a Meguiar's Clay Kit. So, before Winter, I'll get the car protected and never again use a car wash and be very careful how far to pull up in a parking spot with a curb. I may not do the ceramic detailing this year, but may try it next year.

Hey bro i have been doing paint correction for a long time and if you have been gone over with the foam pad it would have been much shinier I also do only one step sometimes for the silver paint but if you would have done with foam it would be so much shinier. Silver can become different color if you do all 3 stages or atleast 2 step. Its starts to glow

Fantastic job... Comparing the $100 do it yourself job vs. the $3000 professional job, I don't even think there's that big of a difference to be honest... Would you say that the ceramic coating is easy to apply? Heard some people say it's hard to do, but looks easy here
@LegitStreetCars
@LegitStreetCars 6 жыл бұрын
There is a big difference but it's hard to tell with a silver car. I talk about this at the end but basically there are many levels to this kind of work. But you can definitely make a car look really good for not a lot of money if you do your research and put in the work.
@eaautodetailing5303
@eaautodetailing5303 6 жыл бұрын
Big difference! #1 is knowledge! Silver is 100x easier to paint correct than black, and with coating it depends on the brand you use. Professional ones are usually more durable and have a warranty. Coating a black car is also harder to do since you see every little high spot. With silver you cant really tell

Say what?? Think about this. If someone said they built their house for 300,000 would you expect it to include all the machinery and tools to build the house? So the $200,000 concrete truck and machine, the Bobcats, excavators, forklifts, multiple pickups, dump trucks, every hammer, nail gun, ladder, etc. You get the point. My title is exactly what I said in the video, $100 in materials. I also needed a heated garage for the job so should I have include the cost of the building and heat?

LegitStreetCars if someone built their house on their own, then ya... you would include all of the things they needed to buy in order to make it happen... And the title doesn’t say “in materials” by the way.

Thanks Branson. I do plan on making more like this but unlike some of my mechanical repair videos, I won't present it as the expert. Detailing is sort of new to me and I'm still learning. Doesn't mean it won't be great info but I want to be honest with the viewers like in this one and let it be known I'm an amateur at detailing at this point. I researched and practiced for this video for over a month and Rupes helped me with the tips and instruction so I won't release a video without proper research. Thanks so much for watching and glad you are enjoying the content. Alex
