Had a 2021 pb xlt, a 23 pb kr and now a 2024 pb xlt. Wow what a difference. This 24 is the best truck I have ever had, period. Smooth, gas mileage is amazing, power is amazing. Its a keeper, and I trade trucks every 6 to 9 months

@@Pickuptrucktalk We might be even more screwed, Trump said he will not offer military protection to us because we have not been paying into NATO properly. And the buffoons we have voted in have played political games with military equipment contracts, instead of taking delivery of equipment. Our jets are 50 years old (can't shoot down a china weather balloon, US had to do that) and in the arctic we are very close to China and Russia. The Liberals canceled the F35s as an election issue, 65 planes for 9 billion was too much (big bad Harper), 2016 was the delivery. Now the same government have ordered 80 f35s for 19 billion, with only 4 planes for 2026. Almost double, and still no planes. Trudeau has done nothing but piss Trump off for domestic political gains. And now yes we certainly are screwed. I've never seen this doofus Trudeau so scared before after the election results came in. Should it be USAs job to offer military protection to Canada? That's a whole different conversation, but it appears some people have been taking that for granted.

@@Pickuptrucktalk Not really, most manufacturers deeply discount MSRPs in Canada vs US. Example, 2025 RAV4 Hybrid Limited in the US (all options) is $43965 before state taxes. In Canada, $50,590 which is a 15% premium. But the exchange rate right now is 40%+ premium. Toyota absorbs the difference.

My 2016 f150 xlt 2.7, 5.5 bed, fx4, sport appearance package. I had every option for a xlt but the big tank and sub woofer. Sticker was 52k. I bought for 41k. When i bought my 22 lightning, lariat extended range, 80k at sticker. But they had a 22 xlt like i had bought, just newer. It was 64k. And the tremor packages were 71k. I lifted etc my 16 so it was basically the same thing. Fwiw, i think the 2.7L is one of the best engines they have ever offered. In perfect driving conditions, 65 degrees, no wind, 55 mph, on a lift and off-road tires, i was clocking 29.8 mpg. I still regularly get 24 mpg. And it's still so powerful.

I ordered a 2025 XL Super Crew with 5.0, 4x4 and 6.5ft bed (157 wheelbase). Originally I ordered a 2024 in the same configuration but the sales rep by mistake sent the order in as the 145 wheelbase 5.5ft bed. I caught the mistake when the build for the 24 got scheduled. I'm dead set on getting the longer bed. Ended up having to re-order as a 25 since the vin on the 24 was created. I added the tow package in this order. The 24 XL would not allow the tow package with the 5.0 but the 25 does. I thought that was kind of odd. Also opted for the integrated tailgate step as well since they now offer it for the XL in 25.

Just ordered a 2025 F150 Supercrew blackout FX4 Powerboost Lariat High package back in beginning of November 2024. They removed the premium fog lamps, onboard scales, ambient lighting and the power memory tilt/ telescopic steering column. This was not know at the time of ordering. The truck is a week or so out to be delivered at the dealer and the loss of these features have me rethinking taking delivery of it. I am now thinking about going with the Platinum High trim because the dealer is requesting an additional rebate claim against Ford for the false advertisement. They still show that the Lariat comes with the power tilt steering but it no longer does. So I would have to either take the losses of the features I wanted with additional rebates or start the ordering process all over again and get a similar equipped Platinum that comes with everything for approximately $4k more. Not happy about these unforeseen changes that Ford did not tell anyone and still lists features for the Lariat on their website that you just can no longer get. Do not trust what you see on the consumer Ford build and price website.

I’ll be keeping my eye out for an XLT Powerboost similar to what you built, but without the max tow. I was between a Tundra and F150, but the Tundra is having way too many growing pains for me to justify it….and I’m a Toyota fanboy. My FIL’s 22 PB 7.2kw and his previous 2018 2.7 ecoboost have been fantastic trucks for his roof/gutter business with zero mechanical issues between them. Heck, the PB saved his butt a handful of times when his gas generator failed. He actually found it that the PB generator uses less fuel than his gas generator too.

@ same here, I’m already getting 15mpg and the 5.7 Tundra wouldn’t be any better and F150’s ride so much better than the 2nd gen Tundra. I’d drive a 2.7 before going all in on a 5.0. It’s arguably the best engine. Awesome fuel economy, considered the most reliable and it’ll tow as good as the 5.0 but not quite as good as the 3.5. I’ll be curious to see how the gen 4 5.0 does with cylinder deactivation and oil pump belt (vs chain in previous gen 3 5.0) for longevity. My FIL sold his 18 2.7 F150 to his son and it has about 110k miles and it’s yet to have any component failure. Before he leveled and added larger tires on the 2.7, he was averaging 22-26mpg, in the Powerboost he’s getting about the same. Even with the level and oversized tires the 2.7 got about 20-22mpg.

@@cpftank09 my dad has the 5.7 v8 tundra, literally gets 12-14 mpg just daily driving with tools and whatnot in the cab and bed but towing it plummets to 8-10. He’s told me to not buy one and get the 5.0. I’ve done the math on it, giving the tundra 14.5 mpg vs ford 5.0 20 mpg driving 20k miles a year I’d save $550 -$650 per year it would be more with the 2.7. The 2.7 also has the oil pump belt, I’ve heard good takes on it from all the research I’ve done but still septical, not about it breaking but it flaking/pealing and clogging up the oil intake. I think ford creating the powerboost and making it a literal generator on wheels is genius, just hoping they’d do that to the 2.7!
@cpftank09
@cpftank09 2 ай бұрын
@ ya, I was shocked they didn’t make the Powerboost with a 2.7. It’d probably get close to 30mpg without hyper-miling like some of the PB guys do. I love the sound of the 5.0 and had a 2012 5.0 F150. The good thing is, I don’t think k you can wrong with any of the options. It sounds like Ford will be making a Powerboost of some type in the F250 as well, which would be the ultimate contractors truck.
@mr.adventure6507
@mr.adventure6507 2 ай бұрын
@@cpftank09 that’s exactly what I was thinking, 2.7 + powerboost I think it could easily get 25-30 mpgs. I’d definitely buy it. I dont think I could go wrong with either option either, 2020 5.0 to avoid oil consumption issues, less moving parts, more towing capability (won’t need it for a few years) and a tune to remove cyl deactivation and auto stop/start. But the 2.7 doesn’t seem to have hardly any issues so far. In the end I think maintenance is what will matter the most to making both engines last as long as possible. The research continues and which ever I can get the best deal on. I’ve always hoped that ford would introduce the f250 diesel with the powerboost, more power with better mpgs would be great for contractors/ fleet trucks. If it works as well as i hope they could dominate the market. Still wanting ford to bring back the 3.0l diesel in the f150. GMs the king there thought so prob not.

Having a blast with the utility and family hauling ability of my '24 XLT Supercrew truck. Equipped with 302A, FX4 and Black Apperance package it looks so slick and modern for a truck. I have a 2.7L in it based on recommendations and it's more than enough for me. All that for around US$50K after Employee Pricing discount. I'm up to 76k Canadian with a 302a antimatter blue, sport appearance, 5 liter v8 4x4, bluecruise odds and ends. 2 grand more than my 'lectric and less features than my 23. Besides not being able to get bluecruise on a 23 xlt lightning in Canada. I'm sure it would be nice (especially being a v8), but I'm an employee and have zero write offs. Payments, fuel (6.36 a gallon here) all on me for 36k km driving a year. Build and price is free to play around with and that's as far as I'm going to go. They have improved the color and option combos available for the XLTs which is nice. And in my opinion price has basically stayed the same for 25.

Anti-matter is still available; you have to go up in trim level. They had to cut down the available trims for the 5.0 in order to continue offering the 5.0 as an option at all thanks to the lovely gov't EPA requirements. I'm hunting a 5.0 myself to drop a supercharger in it and get some real power; Ford def looks promising.

2WD trucks are not only popular in the warm southern states. I live in Alberta, Canada, and I may be one of the few to still drive a 2WD truck (2016 Canyon) with a manual transmission. I want to turn it into a prerunner because I want a suspension that can handle huge potholes. I thought I was the only prerunner fan in Canada but a few weeks ago saw a prerunner with a full roll cage, 4-link rear end and two spare tires in the bed. A prerunner owner once said if you have enough horsepower you don't need four wheel drive.

Maybe it’s a body roll thing? The seats in lower trim like sr5 are super uncomfortable. If the XLT is positioned to where it has been in years past That’s a sweet spot for Ford. I’d probably get a crew cab in blue or brown if they still offer brown. I don’t know if I’d get the 5.0 or 2.7? I heard they added cylinder deactivation to the 5.0 and some sort of super douper spray cylinder liner . I’ve heard good things about the 2.7. More of a household family truck so the 2.7 would probably work. The GMC sierra sure is nice. Quality Ford vs GM? I always liked the detail of Ford better. They at least paint the frame. People have good things to say about the GM 2.7. The old 5.3 was great but seems GM ruined it in later years.
