An absolutely brilliant car in virtually every respect. It looks amazing, with incredible utility and space, and rides and handles beautifully, helped by the AWD “4Motion” setup. The 4 cylinder turbo 2 litre engine has heaps of power, albeit with some turbo lag, as correctly noted in the video. It would be interesting to have all the haters post a pic of what they drive. So many miss the point with what VW is doing with the Arteon. It is not meant for drags strip performance. It's meant to be a grand touring car with more upscale styling than the Passat. Reliability and service costs of VW's are very reasonable in my experience. You are getting everything Europe gets with the exceptions of what is not allowed in this country due to regulations or what VW does not think would be profitable/desired in this market. No VR6 for the Europeans, either. It is very interesting and somewhat puzzling why so many commenters seem to rate cars by how much horsepower they produce and if they'd "smoke" the car next to them at the stoplight.

I was excited about this car when I heard it was coming, but honestly, not a single thing about the Arteon or any newer VW makes me want to replace my 07 passat wagon 3.6 4mo. I can retrofit the same headunit, install aftermarket headlights, have the real leather and real wood dash and had a guy pull up next to me in a big ass dodge Ram to tell me "that 3.6 is sick" after a roll on from 60-90 with ease. Vw should've sourced the Audi 3 liter supercharged setup, cause every reviewer, says looks fast moves slow. My car looks like im on my way to pick up my daughter (which i often am) but on the low hauls ass.
@lazarushernandez58274 жыл бұрын
Don't know that the Audi 3.0L would fit under hood without a lot of modification; the Audi 3.0 is used in longitudinal configurations, whereas the Arteon (and most of VWs current car line up) uses a transverse configuration. VWs is a peculiar manufactures in that it occupies a niche segment of near luxury. Maybe that sells well in the European market, but few North Americans know what to make of it. It should compete against the Toyota Camera or Honda Accord, but even though its fit and finish is easily superior, it generally lacks their utilitarian nature and gets beaten by their fuel economy. On the other hand, it might be a better bargain than even the lowers priced entrants from Mercedes, BMW or Acura, at equal cost, but lacks their better recognized luxury nameplates and subsequent prestige value. The other obvious issue --- and this is a big one -- is that they're severely under-powered. VW offers a world-class turbo 4 (which explains whey they put it in everything they make) but they definitely needs to break the 300 hp barrier with a decent 6 cylinder motor. I realize fuel economy is an issue, so perhaps develop hybrid? Otherwise, there's no way Americans would ever pay over 40 grand for any 4 cylinder VW, especially when comparable 6s are available in the same or near the same segment.

@@cemsengul16 I wouldn't mind if VW would look into turbocharging a smaller displacement VR6 24V in use for higher spec cars in the line...(Audi, and Porsche could use them too if it helps with development costs).

it’s such a shame the great design doesn’t continue in the inside :/

It’s subtle. Could be a little more flashy buts it’s not over the top.

@@markuslc1888 plenty conservative for me lol. Can pick up a used one pretty cheap now, just shy of $30K for an SEL R-Line 4Motion

The exterior design, aside from the very boring grille/lower fascia, is beautiful. The interior is pretty freaking boring, like most VWs. I'd take a KIA Stinger over the Arteon, one with the twin-turbo V6 of course!

I have a cc and thinking about replacing that with this until I saw the price! It is way over priced imo. Also whoever thinks that this car is boring had never experienced an APR or Unitronic tune to wake up this car!

It’s not really 4 wheel drive - it’s 4 motion. Wheels receive power when needed.

Why didn’t VW use the dual clutch transmission with the R model engine or VR6? #Arteon

Isn't 268HP pretty good? The Accord 2.0 has 252HP so it has that beat.
@SaraK_695 жыл бұрын
I love it, but for the price it deserves a 6 cylinder. For the same price you can get a Stinger GT with awd that would smoke the Arteon.

Or at least give it the Golf R motor and drivetrain.

Im sure it'll come out with another engine alternative. Right now they just pop this out for good mpg

Lmao a “European feel” Basically they run low profile tires as standard equipped from factory and you feel EVERY BUMP AND PEBBLE on the road. Stiff suspension is an understatement my friend. Great video though!
