GM Thinking outside of the box and succeeding! A mid engine corvette, this is a breath of fresh air. It opens up many new design options. The corvette always felt like a car for retirees who dreamed all their lives about have a 50s, 60s,70s corvette. As a result the design, tech, execution, and target audience always felt old and slightly in the lounge lizard category. This new platform is a completely new take on a aged icon. This is a whole new ball game. I wish GM great success with this and they need to be rewarded for pushing outside of their comfort zone.

They should do this with A LOT of their cars; grab the Hondas, Toyotas, Kias--see what they do, and see how you can do it better, and then DO IT! The fact that they did this with such a halo car as the Corvette, means they can do this across brand.

You need to order the 2021 C8 model and put a deposit with a good and reputable dealer who really has Corvette allocations, otherwise, you will wait forever. My advice is to wait and not pay the high asking prices as I will predict that many C8 orders will be cancelled and prices will drop and nice discounts will become available. This will happen because of the coronavirus pandemic. The financial market is down and many people have lost a lot of money and investments. Maybe you will disagree with me but only time will tell if my hunch is right or wrong.

You could literally not make the previous vettes better on a track without changing where the motor was. It's just physics. When you drive front engine vs mid on a road course, it's night and day how the car behaves. You can brake later and get on the gas earlier in most cases. When the zo6 comes out it will hurt a lot of feelings on nurburgring lap time board

I would buy this. I would have not bought the front engined designed Vettes, but not because of looks. The new buyers they're looking for don't care about the heritage of what was - for years - a plasticky, rattling piece of shit with a great engine. The latest iterations of the old platform were completely maxed out in terms of traction and performance. The potential with this mid-engine platform for the money is on a different level.
@deadeye45204 жыл бұрын
They ditched the iconic shape for performance. Let's be honest, all of these supercars look very similar to each other due to the need to maximize aerodynamics. They all look pretty good, but it's hard for them to stand out from each other appearance-wise.

Paul Pinto , only in America, free enterprise capitalism at its finest. Bringing the cost of a $300,000 sports car down to about 100K through economies of scale, And making enough of them so that 10 years from now some poor mechanic can own one. You gotta love it.
@btw87754 жыл бұрын
GilsTestChannel Capitalism is also why there are shit tons of homeless people and everyone else is living paycheck to paycheck while the nation is spiraling downhill. Sure free enterprise is cool, but that also leads to huge wealth disparity. Also not to mention your government is run by a bunch of crooks who take bribes from corporate entities. The US is a corporate oligarchy parading around as a free democracy.

Great review! It was thorough, covering many of the essential aspects of the product. The guest were authoritative and articulate. They clearly presented how the final product delivered on the appropriately high standards set by the leaders of this segment. They also touched on how they leveraged GM's strengths to deliver a world class product at an unbeatable value proposition with few if any compromises. The C8 makes a mid-engine supercar available to many people for whom, this level of performance and practicality was previously nowhere near their price point.

I personally think the Corvette has simply come into its it's own. It has evolved. From a beast to a genuine monster. So far it seems the engineers to their time and did it generally right. They're still too fresh off the assembly line to know for sure though. Wait until people start adding performance mods and awakening its inner super powers. I won't be surprised to see these things pulling wheelies on the drag strip or plunking down wild lap times at various circuits in short order. XD I like Corvettes always thought they were cool cars but this is probably only the 2nd one the I actually /want/, that I'd buy if I could.
@raymondnoodels77754 жыл бұрын
The first vettes were supposed to be rear engine...they changed it to front mount mid production.
@helmuthmeier96354 жыл бұрын
A real Corvette has a front-engine. The older C7 Grand Sport with 460 HP was 2 seconds faster on the Nurburgring than the brandnew C8 with 500 HP! Says all. It's just a hype about a mid-engine car, which is much more unstable in curves than the older generations with transaxle architecture. The racecar C8.R doesn't convince either so far. All together: I look critically at this new car. It is not a competitor for a Ferrari or Lambo and so far not better than the previous generations Corvettes.
@SadisticStang4 жыл бұрын
Notice how he said that he wanted it to be cool enough for a Michigan summer day, and then contrasted that with an Arizona summer day. Good for him using American states as an example and not referencing some place like Dubai where frankly Chevrolet shouldn't give two shits
