They need to improve on material quality, especially seats and steering wheel. I've seen low milage vehicles with very very worn out seats, arm rest and steering wheel. Oh yes, and hopefully they increase the thickness of the pain, it's painful to see what happens to that beautiful red 😨

Hopefully Mazda will release a production version of the Vision Coupe concept as it looks very promising. It deserves a new name to go with the brand's intended direction upmarket. My guess it may be called Mazda 9, MX-9 or they'll resurrect some old names 626, 929, or Millenia. Mazda's luxury brand, Amati, that never saw light of day, at least here in the US, may even be apart of the new Mazda lineup. I knew something was about to happen when the 2021 Mazda 6 didn't receive the new Mazda Connect system as the CX-5 and CX-9 did for 2021. Sad to see it go, I had 3 of them over the years.

I've owned 2 Mazda 6. My first a 03 6s sedan that was stolen and totaled and my second an 07 6i 5-door to replace it. I loved my 6i and traded in for a new 2019 CX-5 Signature. The first generation 6 was a great car. Mine was built in Flat Rock, MI and Ford used it as the base for the original Fusion and several other models. However I think Ford screwed Mazda up with the 2nd generation USA model making it different from the Japanese and European car. The third generation is a great car but we don't get AWD and the wagon here. The USA market always gets screwed and left out of getting the best cars. I hope Mazda creates a new RWD/AWD inline 6 cylinder model 6 and brings it here.

I have to admit, a piece of my soul just broke on reading this. Then I re-read Mazda's memo and realized that it only seems to make reference to 2022. It doesn't say never again, doesn't say anything about a corporate shift in focus from sedan to suvs. I love the current 6 but am holding out hope for the re-make to resemble the images online with the entirely new sheet metal. The current MY has lines which resemble my Jag XF, very feline and aggressive stance. Now I'm left wondering when my lease is up in a few months, should I try to find a 2 year lease on a current 2021 or left over 2020 Mazda 6? Do those exist? Are exterior differences between 2020 and 2021 obvious? I'm wanting to not be driving a new car that in a year will look outdated due to a complete remodel because Mazda decided to suddenly bring the 6 back in 2023 or worse yet, suspended it entirely. I guess no one knows the future, right? Suggestions, guys? Thanks!

As someone who has owned mazdas for 11 years, there isn't much of a reason to purchase a mazda 6 as of 2021, the mazda 3 was almost the exact same car, same styling but slightly smaller, same features added, except no ventilated seats, and overall the 3 is better on gas mileage due to it weighting less. Don't get me wrong I love the mazda 6 I currently own a 2018 mazda 6 gtr, but I can't deny the mazda 3 took its place. I'd love to see a full redesign of a new sedan that offers not just premium features but luxury features as well with more power. I would love for them to make a "mazda 9" as a luxury or sports sedan, I'm not into the whole suv craze I think it will run its course and I'm sure since gas prices skyrocketed people who wanted an suv and got them are regretting it, and are looking into a sedan, coupe, hybrid, or electric vehicle to replace it once it's paid off.

Stop being so thick headed. Manuals are a thing of the past. Auto manufacturers don't manufacturer and sell cars to just loyalists they sell to the masses. @@mpg65 Can you drive manual? It’s important to keep the manual transmission in vehicles aside from SUV’s and trucks because most enthusiasts will be buying sedans/hatchbacks and sports cars. If they don’t have a manual option, a lot of the auto journalists will like the car a lot less and therefore make it seem more disappointing. Mazda has also basically perfected the RWD manual transmission so this would be an amazing car to have it in. I’m only buying it if there’s a manual option, if not I’ll look elsewhere. As a thoroughly satisfied owner of a 2018 Mazda 6 GT turbo and a long-time fan of Mazda cars, especially rotary rx cars and mx-5's, Here's my list of what I wish or hope Mazda's future moves would be. Some of these are obviously wishful thinking: 1) The next rwd sedan to replace the 6 be available as a 2 door coupe with a manual transmission coupled with the inline 6, including with the diesel inline six (I would jump on that in a heartbeat, especially if it looked anything like the Vision concept, although probably very toned down unfortunately as with most concept-to-production changes - think Mercedes EQS, the concept vs the production version) 2) Introduce a new RX-9 sports car, powered by a next gen rotary 3) Bring back the 6 (or whatever replaces the 6) wagon to the States (the current-gen 6 wagon looks fantastic) 4) Introduce an MX-5 fastback coupe in the next gen model and introduce special edition models such as a lightweight racier (clubsport) version for an out-of-the-box track-ready special, with clubsport suspension, increased engine output and options for special paint schemes like racing stripes (like Mazda's version of a Porsche gt3 or gt4); or a production version of the nd model's speedster (of course with a windshield, but cut down like on the Porsche 911 speedster) or spyder concepts from 2016. Engines of future mx-5's should remain naturally aspirated inline 4's in keeping with the character of the mx-5 as a lightweight, minimalist roadster. 5) Don't discontinue the Mazda 2 and bring it back to the States and make it available in 3 door trim (unfortunately, 3 door hatchbacks are rare these days). Never owned one, but everywhere I read about it, it's mentioned as a super fun, lightweight driver's car (for a supermini), basically a front-wheel drive mx-5 (i've also seen quite a few of these at track days and people say it's a blast; epitomizes the "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast" mantra) when compared to other cars in its class 6) The next sedan that replaces the 6 should have these features as standard, features I wish I had in my 6 (although the power-folding mirrors are available in the top Signature trim i believe): - gas struts for the front hood (it was odd that this was not standard on a car of this price range) - full tire pressure monitoring display (showing all 4 tire pressures in real time) rather than just a warning light that illuminates when tire pressure is low and you have to figure out which tire is low - power-folding mirrors

Mazda over Genesis EVERY time! Are you kidding? I've owned 2 Mazda 6 gen 1s, an RX8, and currently own a '19 MX-5 RF Club. Growing up my Dad owned a 1st Gen RX7, so I guess Mazda is in my blood. I need to purchase a 3rd vehicle now, but I really want to see what Mazda is going to give us. The I6 is probably my favorite engine configuration and the prototype Vison coupe is just so beautiful! Do you think we will get an announcement sometime this year on what is coming? I agree with you, they had to cancel the M6 to make way for the new upscale model. It's kinda brilliant on their part. If you move the product upscale into a market where buyers will pay a premium to get features they want then a RWD I6 powered possible manual Mazda premium Sedan make a lot of sense. PLEASE Mazda, give us a MANUAL!!! I would pay $5k more for a manual without blinking an eye. I might even pay more. BMW is going away from manual and they are not drivers cars anymore unless you get the M cars. Mazda has a real opportunity to be THE player in the upscale enthusiast market because I guarantee that it WILL be fun to drive. What other cars are left to compete with it? Especially if they give it a manual? If Mazda gives us a RWD (with LSD) Coupe or Sedan that looks like the Vision, has good steering feel, handles well, is fun to drive, with an I6, and a manual... I'd pay $50k-$60k for it tomorrow.

Something coming out of the Asian cars needs To Fold & Toss BMW out the Way... I hope Mazda is the 1 to Do it... They say they are the only ones that can make cars with those designs right?? They have most things down packed from the exterior/interior looks & Drive Smooth but still Fun at the same time, can handle Good & makes Turns as good or better than BMW... Now we all know USA love big Cars if they can pull off their Vision Coupes 2 & 4 door then BMW is going in the Trash cause those unreliable things are unacceptable, you mean to tell me if i wanna do a road trip in a BMW X5M or BMW M6 Coupe i have high chances of something Breaking Down??? Benz has the same excuses... Am betting on Mazda, Lexus & Genesis

@Kirk Kreifels Hey question, can you make a video about the cancelled MazTang that was in the process of being designed when Ford owned a part of Mazda? I want to know what kind of Design they were looking for and what type of engine they were planning to use with what performance stats. Maybe you can discover that? And were they planning on making a Mazda 3 Sedan with Mustang vibes etc. And were they planning on making a Mazda 6 Sedan Mustang? I want to know that sooooo badly.

Upscale and luxury means higher MSRP. Mazda has always been a drivers car and I hope that they bring back a Mazdaspeed model in the lineup. And tired of having crossovers and SUV's being pushed more than sedans or coupes. If Mazda made a V-8 version of the Miata they'd sell every one they could build. Tuners have been shoehorning Chevy/Ford V-8's into Miata's for years. And both Mazda and Genesis offer outstanding vehicles. Yet if Mazda made the Vision it would be incredible

sorry; I'm a lot more skeptical. Though their trend has been to push into a more premium space, along with that move came consequences. -no more mazdaspeed division/variants -went away from independent rear suspension on the Mazda3 -WHERE ARE THE MANUALS? oh yeah; the 6 hasn't had that option in years, it was dropped from the CX-5(not that it mattered you could only get it on the base engine w FWD only) The only Manuals left in their lineup is the MX-5/Miata and the $28k PREMIUM Mazda3(but not on the turbo motor?!?!) -no mechanical handbrake -ABS/brake-based "torque vectoring" (real sports cars use things like TORSEN and Quaife LSDs) I love my 3 because it's roomy, light, handles great and cost under $20k new. the current one cuts into the headroom so bad for that sexy roofline that I keep instinctively try to lower the seat more and it simply won't do it. When the current Mazda 6 came out, you could get the base sport model with everything you need, alloys and a sharp-looking cloth interior for just a sneeze under $20k. if I hadn't already bought my 3 at the time I would've went with that. Mazda was like a budget-conscious BMW w/ Japanese reliability built-in. now they might as well BE BMW, cept NO STICK. I'm starting to debate the Merits of a lightly used GTI or Focus ST...

I'd go for an upscale Mazda 6 over a Genesis, without any doubt whatosever. It needs to be RWD-based of course, with an AWD option, and a turbo I6 pumping out those power figures. How crazy is it that this could possibly compete with the likes of a Genesis G70 3.3T, Infiniti Q50, let alone the IS350?

I doubt that the PHEV would get that performance. Mazda is moving towards luxury. They've given up the Zoom zoom ambition years ago. And if they havn't turbod the MX-5 yet - why would they make a high performance sedan? The price hike would be crazy too. I imagine that the next 6 - if it comes, will start at 35k at a minimum. Would anyone buy a 45-50k Mazda 6 - no matter how good it is? That would also drive up taxes on the cars. Mazda is allready paying Co2 fees in Europe on all their cars. By the time this new new 6 arrives PHEVs might not even be eligible for Co2 based tax rebates. IMHO a inline 6 is a really weird desicion. Now - in the real world it might get decent milage. But remember that this is the platform they have to live with for the next seven or eight years. In five years it might be absolete. Especially now when the fully elecric cars are getting cheaper for each model that comes.

If the new Mazda is going "up market" they are going to struggle. There's no reason why people who have previously bought Acura, Lexus, or Infiniti cars would consider looking at a Mazda. I want to be as optimistic as the next guy, but realistically speaking Mazda is fighting an uphill battle.

Driving a 2004 Mazda 6 V6 and cross my fingers still chugging along just fine with “light” maintenance. I mean I change the Leak Detection Pump and that was an SOB. Redid the headliner myself. Clutch replaced around 130k starting to slip. Replaced a fan control module not too bad. GET OEM. The Ford engine weeps a bit but only goes through one qt of oil per 5k change interval at this time. Motor mounts and suspension still good at 185k. Original radiator leaked early on but was replaced. Water pump tension pulley froze up so I replaced that and the belt. Replaced the pulleys on the drive belt side as I figured they were worn too which they were. Recently replaced the water pump just in case but no failure. Recently started to lose the smallest amount of coolant but I think I detected the source coming from the bottom of the new water pump from Gates. I cleaned it off and I’ll check again next oil change.
