Once you own a 3 series you will never be able to live without one. What happens is you fall in love and dont realize how strong that love is until you let it go. then once its gone you have a gaping hole in your heart that you don't know how to fill. you can try getting other fast cars, WRX, Turbo Audis, Mercedes or whatever you think will mend the hole. but the simple fact of the matter, that hole will ALWAYS be there until you return to the 3 series. Ive had my E36 now for 6 almost 7 years and i don't think ill ever get rid of it. Its G35-900 M52B28 on a Link ECU. the feeling is Indescribable (fully built suspension, adjustable upper and lower control arms, CondorSpeedShop everything)

I can attest to the CSF radiator. Best upgrade I ever done for my car. Keeps temps cool here in Az weather. Oil temps stay at 220 - 240. I have yet to see it be at 250° since.

@@tickandslug nope! Pressure wash your oil cooler. I did that and it helped. My temps are 187° cruising, 207° max at idle sitting in stop and go traffic.

@@tickandslug this what I did. New waterpump, tstat, CSF radiator, and new O.E fan. Switched to Liqui Moly 5w-40 also. I wanted to do the i.s upgraded fan.

@@thisguyshorty3554 it sounds like you have the oil thermostat bypassed. Normally it doesn't open fully until 235 degrees. But yeah I have all that done except the csf rad. I'm going to have to get one, thanks!

Late last year after watching a lot of positive content about the N54, I went out and got a e90, less then 150 miles the transmission (6hp) started slipping then spun in it housing, so I found and vandalized e92, windows busted, all the mirrors ripped off, alot stolen like the DME, EWS, rims & tires. A lot of water damage, everything in the trunk, garbage. Well, I used te e90 to complete the e92, and I was so close, the only thing I had left was the head liner, and mod the side mirrors a little bit more and rewire one of the drive side mirrors controls. I did a u turn and car when into limp mode. I offed the engine, and restarted as the light turned green. And I heard a rod knocking, and before I could turn into store it seized. Now I have the front end off and trying to swap the engine from the e90. I'm now hard up on funds, lacking in the tool department.

when you run stock block n54's you need to do slightly more bearing clearance and thicker oil at high hp. youre bending rods at 550ft lbs too so that rod was probably already bent, and then the bearing got out of spec. it could have been a oval cylinder, same thing happens. you know what else i think is strange, ever since i ditched the dme entirely and went maxxecu, my car runs like a honda and ive had 0 issues.

my guess was the smoke seen leading up to it, was a broken or damaged piston. Maybe the piston collapsed which you hear in the video, then the rod hits the block and you hear everyting on the road.

@@ZeroTo60Tube My thoughts exactly. I've seen a few N54s fail this way and it's rarely during the pull that kills it where the engine fails. You'll usually notice you're down on power, smoking or even slapping because your piston is either cracked or straight up bent and then it all falls apart at as low as 3500RPMs.

I'm a diesel mechanic white smoke is usually water probably been loosing a little water leaking into that cylinder slight hydraulic lock and the rod will break in that general area usually on diesels you can spin rod end on crank

Ever since I upgraded to the CSF intercooler, my coolant temp runs hotter than my oil temp! I’ve bled the system so many times thinking there’s trapped air somewhere and even got it vacuumed filled, but still the same sh*t! Next up is to swap out the coolant sensor in the block, but if that doesn’t work then I’m fresh out of ideas! I do have a Mosselman oil cooler, but there’s no way it’s just that good to be keeping the oil temps tracking on average 10 degrees Celsius cooler than my coolant temp!

Instead of the m3 cowl I just used my stock cowl cover with the bms filters, and I cut around the strut braces and the firewall cover while leaving the dme cover and brake fluid cover on. You cant tell unless you know bmws like that or are looking for it

Those headlights are badass I'd definitely rock them if I still had a e90. I had the same e90 replica bumper for the sedans. M3s have the same front end as the coupes so every bumper you see on a sedan that looks like that is a replica but it's oem quality made out of oem bumper materials.

Doesn’t do anything. Some think it relieves crankcase pressure. Upgraded pcv valve and catch can takes care of that

Maybe the belt tensioner went out at some point, sucked in the belt, clogged the oil pump sump, so it was still getting oil, but not enough at high RPM, that my experience.

I got a jb4 but im on 14t turbos not really pushing her seems like the jb4 has its limits and becomes more of a problem with higher hp setups with all the extra fueling pi. I could see it being real and hear about it all to much random problems only fixed by removing jb4 going flash only not my case but im not passed the stock hpfp capabilities not alot of tuners will tune a jb4 car had to hit up Doc Vu for that

Bro they aren’t too expensive just save and u will be able to make a down payment and easily finance it. Just start saving and building ur credit soon as u can!! It’s a relatively easy car to pay off if you get a 2008-2011 with like 60-80k miles you can find them for about 10 grand

I highly recommend the n54 but first thing you must do before you drive it fast, is check off every possible maintenance issue you could have with the n54 given the current mileage it has. It shouldn’t be anything too major or expensive if it’s under 100k so it’s not as hard as it sounds. All I’m saying is if you get a n54 expect to be a little bit of a mechanic yourself, but also expect a car that’s power will give u a smile on your face, so long as you do the maintenance. I made a mistake of buying a n54 and waiting to do the maintenance, so it’s kinda adding up and I’m currently doing it all at once, where as if I did it from the moment I bought it properly as I should, I would do one relatively non major fix at a time to ensure it runs properly as I drive it everyday. Best thing to do is make sure you are in a place in your life where u can have time to check out the car, and make sure you have the money for parts, so that you’re not spending your last nickel on it after you buy it. I hope it works out for you!

JB4 is + MHD is far more superior than just MHD alone even with Reflex. There’s really no need for Reflex at the power level that most people push these cars anyway. Most tuners (most people aren’t going to pay either) are not going to sit there and tune each cylinder. You’re also missing out on the safeties that JB4 offers.
