My exN bread crumbed me with a potential future of a relationship and he got me by faking vulnerability with relationships but the more he talked (he talked a lot) the more he'd tell on himself. The more I'd piece together and realized he was the culprit. I was able to break away when he betrayed me with cheating. I realized this was who he's been this whole time even when we were just friends...the vulnerability was a facade. Thank you for explaining this so well I could nail how he got me.

Because i'm an empath, i love to help and be there people, desperate to love someone and to be truly be loved back.. out of 8 relationships in 30+ years. 6 had narc traits and married for 15 years a covert....NOW i have a fucking radar for them and can see and smell them from miles away.

Do narcissists actually plan to get their victims or is it done unconsciously?

My experience has been is they just seem to be drawn to people who are empathetic and compassionate and kind. It’s almost like it’s a spiritual thing. Because when I met my current narcissist, I had just gotten out of a really bad narcissistic relationship and I think subconsciously somehow he sensed that in me, and because I was so fragile, I was pulled right back in with his words of: “ no one should’ve treated you the way you were treated in the past. You are a wonderful woman, and you should be cherished and taken care of.” Within three months was completely flip-flopped and I was taking care of him even though I’m legally disabled and I still am. Please don’t tell me to leave I’m 67 years old legally disabled, and I have no money. Why don’t I have money because he sabotaged my business. The first narcissist I married sold our house for a dollar had my car repossessed got me fired from two jobs and managed to manipulate the judge to take my kids away. I had no money then I was a housewife I didn’t work. I had no way to protect myself. I’ve come to the conclusion that I just want to be alone. I find my peace there.

That is a good question. I talk to my 77 year old neighbor about my ex to try to heal. I said about a month ago that I need to find out what made me choose him. My neighbor got angry and said "you didn't choose him, he chose you". But why did I let him in. Why did I accept him. Because it felt so good to feel loved because I wanted the mirage to be real so bad?

Yeah, I think they look for people with weak or no boundaries…so they can do whatever they want 🤷‍♀️

@@Mockduck2020 he learned fast though that I was not submissive. The more dominating you are to me the more I go stop. I did not just accept what he said to me. My brain refused to be told I was starting fights when I was not, nor an anger problem. He was not able to convince me of false realities.
