Rivers irl contains mud not just sand etc tho. So it wont be dark and ominious. Unless the river is very deep.

I think the idea of making Beefs side being more muddy and xB having a more pristine canal is awesome and makes sense, a person in a Mansion probably would have rivers and landscape all perfect and nice, probably has a bunch of Gardeners on the payroll

Don't worry about the audio too much, it is what it is, we're really here to see what happens! And Grian was fixing his audio this week too, it's all good, I wouldn't even have noticed! I still watch Minecraft videos from 2011-13 and everyone's come a long way from their hobbyist equipment, but that era was still thoroughly loved 😁 remember when Etho didn't have a mic and Bdubs' audio periodically lowered his volume? In five years I'll look back on this video with love and nostalgia too, just like I do with season 6 now ❤

I like the extra trap door railing, and once the bamboo has grown up, I think it'll pull the gradient together really nicely.

The shape and profile of the railing is good, but it's simply too much dark oak creating one flat mass of color. I think the railing and the smaller detailing bits need to stay away from the dark brown of dark oak, but this highlights one of the big peeves I have with textures...too many textures are only available in one material and/or color. I especially dislike mosaic for this.

One idea which could work great for the rivers, especially Beef's order, is building them according to irl fish spawning habitats? Like salmon and trout prefer pebbles/gravel, with salmon preferring deeper and fast flowing water (no idea how to translate that to Minecraft, but y'know...), and fine sediment is bad, so avoiding sand and organic material could work there? Love your build plans so far!!!

Love that idea - but have a feeling it would be fairly deep water anyway, and as for fast flowing.. i'm not certain there would be a way to even do that. lol Salmon should swin into it either way :)

@@FalseSymmetry To mimic the fast flowing water you could have single source blocks poking up above the level of the water that only flows out in one direction? To try to mimic The flow of rapids and stuff.

that'd only work for 8 blocks before needing to go down a block to continue the illusion. it just doesn't work for long distances

If Beef doesn't mind being unable to boat upstream, a big rapids going down a level every so often should work, having current going downstream like a Salmon would like. It can still be deep enough that some Salmon could be seeded and swim up and down. If it's long enough it could connect to a mountain side

Falsie, your river business is growing slowly - just as a river does! patience is rewarded! my recomendation for rivers is muddy mangrove roots - they are the best underwater block in my opinion

Bamboo wall... Bone meal until leaves appear. Chop the top. Replant a bamboo and bone meal the upper part. You'll get leafier bamboo 👍🏼 B dubs showed it off an earlier episode

River Idea : How about a white water type river using higher ground to start off, and using different water sources to create different "currents".

The Tiny False at 1:02 is so absolutely precious! Since you asked for riverbed suggestions-my minority opinion here is that X's might be *fine as-is* if the lore behind it is that it's more of a canal for transportation than a purely natural formation. I've lived basically my entire life in the DC Metro area, and the shallow river as it stands reminds me of the *C&O canal* or one of Maryland's many artifical reservoirs.

about the river bed suggestions: some small rivers can grow a lot of algae when it's warm and sunny, so they look quite overgrown and slimy. It'd be hard to achieve that look of long grass like algae moving with the water, but the overgrown look itself is cool already! maybe some moss and various darker green blocks and some blue nylium for some warm-cold contrast?

If the river bed is shallow, regular sand makes the bed look brighter and vibrant, versus the darker stone, dirt and gravel textures.

A way around the *narrow* feel on rivers like X's is eroded walls. Would also tie into the aquifer feel of a natural cave formation that has eroded away and collapsed. Great way to explain the shallow riverbeds 😂😂😂

I'm pretty sure they gave the allays the same AI as villagers, meaning that they know exactly what you need them to do, and they do the opposite. Also they have the same urges to touch lava if you give them the opportunity.

Klondike river...loots of gravels and rocky with very close woodlands. . . gold prospectors/miners still use those areas a lot so could perhaps use gold ore as decoratives?

If you do make a second dock, perhaps you could connect the two? The closed off area of the river/lake could be used as storage for boats or river-making stuff.

The melons are pleasantly surprising as a part of the colour palette. You'd think that the texture is way too busy, but it just works! And you're right about the gradient between the top and bottom layer blending well no matter the viewing angle. Really good work this episode :D

FALSE! I dont know if you have decided what your special permit ahould be, but I have the perfect idea. The permit permit. Currently we have a permit office that can suposedly make new permits. But i dont see them having a permit for that, do you? As such, that can be used to not only rebel against Grian (someone has to) but undermine his authority using his own rules.

I think the waterfall idea is kinda cool. Cause that way you don’t have to make a door to get under there or go around the other side, you could just fly through the waterfall plus it adds a bit of movement to your base.

Canals do have a docking side made of concrete, for yachts and boats, and an overgrown side, the little mud hills, for the narrow boats renter's. Beef, you and Xb's River will look super

i love the start of the megabase! i really love cities or civilisations as megabases, they mean you can add so much intricacy and things going on into a base that really feels alive. the block gradient choice is so fun and your texturing is as always on point! ^_^ i know you've said that you're going to be tweaking things as you build, but if this platform is from the previous society, it would be kind of cool to play with it being more degraded or visibly repaired? visible scaffolding holding things up, patches or holes, or places where new citizens have adapted to or repaired the old base, which would be really thinking about the worldbuilding behind it, which would be so cool! so excited for how this base develops :D

For the banks of the rivers, you could consider using mud and soul soil to make the rivers look as though they have current. ALSO, if you change the heights slightly, the river can have an actual current, and it will look more realistic

You should apply for a Landscape Design Permit, focus on rivers - and then ask for e.g. 1 diamond per block/river length! Plus possible decoration packages.

Natural rivers deposit sand or gravel on the slow side of a meander and in an alluvial plane when they interset larger bodies of water, with the minecraft rivers you can add a few bubble collums as they rise or fall so they can be navigated with boats and this allows you to have natural looking falls in the river and escavate less rock or have less canyons, while looking amd feeling natural and being boat friendly. Love all the amazing work you guys are doing this season, and i hope these ideas help! Thank you all for sharing.

Riverbed suggestion here! Rocky Riverbed! Could have cobble and mud bottoms with large rocks of all different colors, plus buttons? (Do they place under water?) For pebbles! Also, loving the block palette of the walls ❤

Everytime you guys say rivers my brain just tries to autofill to rivers of blood from eldenring lol. You could make an ice flow river or a slime river. I live in Louisiana and a nice dark shade covered shallow creek is also nice some dirt rocks flowing water and Lilly pads and stuff.

You could try the thing that Grian(?) tried with the bamboo where you like add bamboo on top of another bamboo shoot. So you get the little leaves in the middle as well as all the way on the top. Can't remember it exactly but it looked pretty cool

I am super happy for your BIG leaky business projects!!! For some reason, Xisuma's river banks remind me of fjords with really deep parts and some shallower towards the intersection. I also think the cave entrance would be best for the vertical river, making a deep splash pool.

I keep telling every Hermit this method ever since I accidentally figured it out the other week. The best way I found to transport allays is to make them hold a lead n them attaxh a lead to them. So u dont need to keep throwing items n when they inevitably break yhe lead by getting stuck on something, they will pick it up n bring it to u. So all u need to do is keep an ete for when the lead breaks n stop to let the lil guys catch up. All be it that I was only transporting 1, not sure if u would notice each one breaking their lead if u had all 3 following u.

Xiumas river would be a cool to look as rocky since it has a waterfall feature... I think it'll look cooler since from what I've seen waterfalls have rocky river ground.

Ideas for river beds - packed mud for a pebbley river rock type bed, with some mushroom blocks and/or rooted dirt chunks for variance, deepslate tiles laid along the river with chunks of (cobbled?) deepslate for larger rocks chunks, calcite and diorite for a white sandy bed type, maybe cobblestone for larger stones mixed in? Some more expensive options - raw iron and potentially gold blocks mixed in for that pebbly look.

( and the briefcase drips when you have water in it, and stops dripping when the water is placed... you can also make drips for lava & milk too :)

I love that youre doing rivers. Any thoughts on a Crystal river? But for Salmon bearing rivers, at least, for the pacific salmon (which based on coloration, the minecraft salmon is a sockeye) the best bottom would be a mix of gravel and cobble because thats what they spawn in in real life. Salmon bearing rivers also are best when they have large deep pools and large woody debris for the baby fish to hide in, and have large shady trees on the banks to cool the water down. Trust me, im a salmon scientist. (no seriously, thats what i do) also love the build. Its giving me some pretty cool coliseum but natural kinds vibes
