Few episodes ago, Grian - I build a nice Billboard in Docm77 base! LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE! This episode, Docm77 - Time to get rid of that Billboard of LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE! Also, Docm77 - I Love this new Billboard! Grind, Optimize, Automate, Thrive! (AKA GOAT) And it comes with an automatic Redstone piston, when you hit the target block, the piston moves back and forward! Grian - OK! Doc made a better billboard. Docm77 - 😎🐐

There is only one issue with the strategy. Grian tends to push harder when he thinks the enemy is on the ropes. Be careful.

For the spam protection, you should simply start a clock at the trigger, then use a NOR gate to prohibit the signal to go through if the target is hit again and the clock is still running. Could simply use an Etho clock. I already see the buttercups all trying to shoot the target at once and having multiple triggers at once. Edit: for the HIVE MIND in the billboard, I don't really know WITH THE CURRENT DESIGN.... Unless it is possible to somehow make block disappear and reappear (glitch) using a redstone trigger. HOWEVER is possible to make text change if you use a kind of convoyer-belt of blocks. If you look at the convoyer-belt from above, you only see one side of it. Thus, if you make the belt rotate halfway, none of the blocks you were previously looking at are still visible, all you see is the previously hidden blocks. If you have a belt composed of 2 letters, one on each side, it would work just fine. And you can make the letters 13 blocks wide, which is bigger than your current billboard. Would need to be a complete redesign tho, as the 3D letters you currently have would be too hard to move in this fashion. But with another board on the side tho.... 😄 Hopefully I gave you a couple ideas! Thanks for the content you put up, I always love watching your long chill videos when I come back from work on Friday. Looking forward for it everywhere. A Belgian viewer.

Doc using parenting tactics against the buttercups is made all the more hilarious by Grian questioning Ren's statement that they're all grown humans. Also Kudos to the fan artist for vastly improving my mental image of the sniffer suit by drawing it in the style of a lion dance costume. That's absolutely amazing.

The animation should theoretically be idiot-proof, since the targets are just a trigger for the flying machine if it's docked. If it's in motion, the targets don't do anything. Maybe theoretically you could get the flying machine into a weird state with a trigger right as it's docking, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't matter.

You mentioned haikus, but I thought of another form of poetry, the limerick. It fits well with the "Doc on the GOATs" page, especially if you consider what S could stand for. Here's what I came up with: Grind never stops, always on Optimize til flaws are gone Automate life Thrive with no strife Surpass all others beyond For just GOAT, though, we could do a quatrain, written as a heroic/elegiac stanza (iambic pentameter, ABAB rhyme scheme): Grind never stopping all night and all day Optimize all processes 'til refined Automate production and reap the pay Thrive in success along with the Hivemind Or a quatrain in hymnal form (Variating iambic tetrameter and iambic trimeter, ABCB rhyme scheme): Grind never stops, it's ongoing Optimize flaws away Automate the world around you Thrive each and ev'ry day

For feedback when somebody hits the target, what if you replaced one or both of the red rings of the target with redstone lamps, and had them light up when the target was hit? That would give near-instant feedback, and give that dopamine hit of "yay I got it!" It might even make someone think that's all the billboard does, if they underestimate the Hive Mind... It could also be cool to put a sound effect on a disc, maybe playing around with the radius like Tango is doing in Decked Out, to give some audio feedback as well.

Regarding the problem of lighting up H I V E M I N D on the billboard, I think revealing an outline of each letter using pistons would be epic if you can hide some block swappers in the wall in behind the billboard. You could swap out camouflaged blocks surrounding each letter for something bright and high contrast like glowstone blocks or red wool etc. PS make sure your target block is spam-proof so Scar doesn't beak it.

You have to add a feature so you can't destroy the piston by hitting the target multiple times, because scar is 100% going to find a way to mess it up.

For the HIVE MIND dilemma if you put dispensers with lava buckets behind the letters facing outwards you could probably get a decent outline that also emits light. I don't know how well it would stand out but may be worth a try. Love your vids Doc keep at it.

I was thinking lava dispensers behind the letters or outlining behind facing out with the lava pocket encased with glass. All dispensers fire at once (per letter) so the whole outline pops at once instead of waiting for lava flow.

The idea of a redstone line meandering up to the piston with redstone lamps lighting up here and there to indicate the signatl being transfered is fine. As a failsafe to prevent the flower boys from spamming the billboard though i would suggest a pulse extender that blocks any incoming signal till the piston animation has finished and it is in its ready-to-go-again state.

@@Miseragogue Yeah. There's probably not much one can do in vanilla because we do not really have colored lighting like in those RTX versions. And doc built the background with stained glass so block swappers to make do with frog lights or other blocks also falls short. Bummer.

@Docm77, I think I might know the perfect way to indicate that you’ve hit the target. You were talking about a redstone line lighting up, and I think this can be achieved the same way Tango made his door for decked out in ep. 47. He used some armour stand magic to make a block changed whenever you triggered the right book for it. This way you can literally change a blocks texture without any pistons and stuff involved. I suggest you watch his video for a better explanation, but I think this might just be the perfect way to do this. Hope it helped!

In my opinion wireing up the piston with redstonelamps as redstoneline would give you a very quick and easy opportunity to enlight the hivemind. Just hook up a redstone capacitor to the lambs under the Hivemind ladders, so these keep glowing for a bit after the other lamps went off again.

Given that your billboard is mostly transparent and against a wall, you could probably do a falling concrete powder backdrop for the letters you want to highlight. Either create a temporary wall behind the letters, then let it fall and reset itself behind the wall, or drop a few pieces at a time for an animated effect.

For "HIVE MIND" you could use falling water to cover the letters, similar to what Tango did for his decked out 2 ui map. Have water dispensed in front of the letters and collected after it passes all of the Diamond blocks.

I think this could combine with the music disc ideas nicely... Just use the goat rap. The musical intro could be immediate feedback for a target hit, then as letters light and pistons move, the music goes "Grind... Optimize... Automate... Thrive!"

We call them cursive and manuscript in the US. _Italicized is when the letters lean, though._ Cursive made more sense when people used ink and quill, as starts and stops tended to make ink puddles. It was neater and more efficient to complete words in a single stroke. Manuscript is much easier for legibility in modern-day.

A way you may be able to make the letters for “hive mind” stand out could be by backlighting the letters with beacon rays. Have the beacons behind the letters in the walls so you can only see the light in a gap behind the letters.

As for feedback for the target block, you could take a page out of Portal (and well, Minecraft), and have a string of lamps around the border of the sign that progressively lights up until it reaches the piston, so it looks like a redstone line lighting up.

One potential addition to the mega piston, seeing that Tango has made great use of the custom music discs, you could make a Mega piston sound play in time with the animation, with a range wide enough to be heard throughout the perimeter

For the billboard interaction. You could perhaps have red concrete powder fill up behind to outline the letters and then have it removed after the pistons have retracted. Or use it to create a 'bleading' effect. Depenting on how vissable the concrete is, it might be possible to shoot it and have it collect in front of the letters. You can also have most of the redstone hidden in the montain.

I love that the most of the letters meet ISO lettering standard, very fitting for you. (may be G and A look a bit different but whatever :D) Also letters could be highlighted with water border, (another liquid display) you have two layers there, so you can put dispensers in the gap and create glass corridor for water.

One neat idea for the billboard would be to have a custom music disc play. It could provide the instant feedback for hitting the target and then make a sound for the piston extending to sound like a giant piston extending.

One option for the redstone line could be to transfer the signal (or an additional signal) using observers with redstone lamps next to them. The traveling light signal is then visible to the outside. If the observer chain is too slow, it may be possible to add observers and redstone lamps along the entire scaffolding stack instead, making their fast traveling signal visible. (Or a mixture of both approaches, for more complicated signal routing)

Also another method of transferring the signal faster is either bubble column detection or wall detection, which can be faster! There's a video called "The strange world of unconventional redstone" that touches on these methods.

I love the moving piston, looks awesome! For a visual signal from your target I was thinking a line of lamps would looks good as well. I did a test, if you do a scaffolding tower with observers looking at the scaffolding and going right into the lamps the lamps actually light up when you trip the trapdoor, and they do it in a sequence (not all at once) so it looks like a moving line. Super simple and yet technical.

There once was a GOAT named Doc, Who redstoned around the clock, He collected his ore, with a big tunnel bore, until Scar double-clicked a noteblock. This sent the Doc in a rage, But he was wise like a sage, He fought back the trolls, With hundreds of skulls, From a Wither he had trapped in a cage. Destroying a wall and trapping a door, Were just some attempts to settle the score, But this was the start, That hit in the heart, And started an all out prank war. The cleanup of chickens was gruesome, But ways to get back, the GOAT knew some, Dragon eggs were much bigger, And tough to get rid of, All he had to do was produce some. With the enemy's dragon egg gift, There was quite a power shift, Using Tweakaroo, And Rendog's help too, Payback was delivered so swift. The cleanup of eggs was a chore, And with allegiance Mumbo had swore, They were now Buttercups, and bravely mustered up, The courage to poke the GOAT even more. Live, Laugh, and Love was atrocious, Their planning seemed quite precocious, With a battle of bots, Both sides took shots, But showed how much Doc was ferocious.

For the billboard, you could have flying machines push the letters out of the billboard in sequence. The motion and perspective change should be enough to highlight it. The flying machines behind the letters would also help highlight them during the day. Depending on how over the top you're willing to go, you could also do the GOAT, tomato and Rendog. Probably a few others. It would be very on brand.

That sign is so so cool! One bit of feedback though, it's a bit hard to see the G and O in red, I think it's because of the granite behind them, maybe could fill in the background behind the sign to be something consistent that highlights the letters or something?

Why do I feel like grian has instigated the first ever hermitcraft world war. It’s weird how this all started even with grian and scar starting the diamond pillar war to start a new season with a broken economy. Then a king and an overthrowing of whom that needed a crossover right after. Season 9 has really taught us something about history and economics lol

I love what's Tango's done with armor stands and pumpkins. I know Tango is a bit of a purist, in that he doesn't like duping, or even villagers, but his style is very different to Doc's. Doc likes pushing vanilla minecraft to it's limits. Mods and pumpkin heads aren't really his thing

For the hivemind thingy, I think it could be better to use the M from automate, the first I of optimize a, as you said, the ND from grind. It's more linear and easy to read and follow And nice touch about the glass panes for the butterflies. I was wondering how you'd manage it if you destroy a bit of their base ^^'

I really love how every little thing was working towards the disaster. Mumbo ages his copper a little to close to Grians‘ base, so Grian builds a tower on Mumbos‘ Base. Because of that, Mumbo creates the statue of liberty on Grians‘ Base, so Grian has to get more copper to top that. Because he has to get copper he finds DocMs‘ machine. Because he was bored while smelting the copper, he writes in the chat, that he won‘t finish the back of his base, Scar, iMpuls and GeminiTay come to annoy him into doing so. Because of that Grian an Scar are flying to the machine. Because it‘s Scar and Grian and they are the most chaotic people on the server, they both press the noteblock and the rest is history
