I’ve done exactly that! Over 10 K in photography gear. I was blessed enough to to able to sell at about 70%, then invest it and get my money back. Then I got a very expensive mountain bike, I’ve used it a lot and it keeps its value. Then suits and formal attire which I wish I had found your channel before. I bought plaid suits and I couldn’t even wear them for the exact same reason you mentioned. “Sigh” thanks for being humble enough to put this great content out there. Sometimes I think it’s the power of advertising and it’s what’s in the air if one’s not focused enough maybe, we get dragged by these powerful forces. I’d like to finish building my wardrobe, formal, seasonal and casual and focus on retirement early. Happy holidays!

Oh yeah, I totally get this. Right when I was starting my menswear journey about two years ago, I went to a prominent retail chain in Canada that offers the usual assortment of shirts, suits and the like. The attendant was really nice to me if a bit pushy at times and I ended up spending over $300 on a small collection of dress shirts. I don't wear any of them. Not only is the fit completely off, but the material is cheap polyester and not at all worth the price.

My regret is all the fast fashion I’ve bought over the years. I was going for quantity over quality. I have not changed too much over the years (about 4 “ in the waist) and a lot of the clothes I purchased didn’t last long while if I had thought of my wardrobe as an investment they would have lasted much longer, been more comfortable, and I would have been much more satisfied.

I've been in fragrance for a a little over a decade and I have never described a scent to be "transparent." I would agree with you in saying that you always want to go with you gut, and when you see something you think you might love then you still must go smell it. I have never done a blind buy and I never recommend it because so many retail stores do not let you return the item if its open.

Brian, My regret is not buying a 50ml bottle of TF Tobacco Oud. Yesterday i was offered one at DF in Bogota airport for $180, having already spent enough money in whiskey, cigars and other things I don't really need, I decided to pass on the offer, after all I have some at home or I can buy it at home ( Canada) another time. This morning I realized my bottle is almost empty and attempted to buy it just to find out it had been discontinued for some time now. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Will these problems occur if these bags are used daily? I just purchased a metis clutch in monogrammed canvas from the Kusama collection. I love the colorful polka dots and hope they don’t melt on me, haha. But I don't think it will be in my regular rotation. I also have a NoeNoe in the DA but only use it a few times a year in the spring and summer so I don't put much wear and tear on it. I hope I don't see wear and tear for a while. Plus, I'm saving up niceshopx . Have any of your colleagues experienced the same problem with this size? I don't mind the shape being a little more relaxed, but I also don't want it to turn into a puddle. Thanks for the video!

Excellent video! I have many of those, somehow I never learn. I also bought BR540 based on hype then gifted it to my then girlfriend. Unfortunately for me I live in a place without high end perfumeries in a reasonable driving distance so pretty much everything is a blind buy. The same with sunglasses etc.

Interesting to hear about your experience with the fujifilm x100S. As you started talking about a camera you regretted buying, but before you mentioned which one, I was thinking "should have bough the x100". I suppose it's the "photographers travel camera", never thought about whether it could be too much for most people to really use. Another camera I might have recommended is the "other street camera", the Ricoh GRXiii. But if those camera's dont work for you what you probably want is an iPhone 14 or Pixel 7 Pro.

Hi Brian! Another good video. 2 comments-1: I made the mistake on a camera too. A Nikon B700. I do not regret it because of the cost but the wasting of time doing research and it takes crappy pics. 2: Since the lockdown...it seems like places are limited to get dressed up (not working contributes to that). I.e., no concerts to attend in LV. I decided once/month to go the steakhouse and wear a suit and tie. I was hoping that you (and/or Gentleman's Gazette) would do a piece on dressing/suit wearing during pandemic. THANKS!!

You should have bought a decant of the cologne. I would never blind buy any cologne over $200 without going onto one of the decant websites and getting a 5ml decant for around $15-$20 first. About the bike tires. My buddy raced cycles for a long time. You don’t have to buy rims and tires either. At least around the Boston area you can rent higher end rim and tire combos for a little as a weekend. Gives you a chance to try them out and it saves you a ton of money.

May not be in the realm of luxury, however: 1. Joe Malone Peony&Blush Suede- got it for myself, my husband got interested, so I relinquished, only to get it back - he didn’t like the smell. 2. Birkenstocks - you gotta get the exact size, otherwise they just gonna hurt, make weird “farting” sound and be a nuisance (I donated mine, and never getting them again). 3. Designer purse - unless being a timeless classic (like Dior Lady or Chanel Flap, and even then) they tend to be out of trend pretty fast…
