The plaintiff says he was driving on the highway when the defendant crashed into the side of his car and took off. Turns out she had no license and was in a rental. He’s suing for the cost of the repairs. The defendant insists the plaintiff sideswiped her, not the other way around. She’s countersuing for repairs and emotional distress.

Something similar happened to me. A woman hit my car while I was in the store shopping and tried to leave but people saw and kept her there saying they got her license plate and would call the police. She gave me her number and sped off. I got quotes on the damage ($2,000) and she yelled at me saying her husbands friend could fix it for $100. I said I didn’t feel comfortable doing that and she never responded to me again after that. I should have went after her but I was 18 and sadly didn’t know I had any recourse at the time.

In my country driving without insurance is illegal. The cops will confiscate the car for that. Driver then has to get insurance and pay storage for the car too. And rental companies won't rent a car unless you agree to insurance.
