I used this rig in Florida but with an egg sinker years ago and caught several fish, it worked great but his idea of using an inline sinker I think is a better idea and one I look forward to using next time. So many young men have grown up without fathers and as a result they are lost...........thank you for your kindness.

Great job. When I lived on Charlotte Harbor in the 80’s we used this method almost exclusively and caught so many different species that it became a contest to se who could catch the most on a single trip. Our best was like 20 plus in a morning outing. Use can use live or cut bait , a jig or spoon and pop it along, or double jig and wade the back bays. Simple to use and cheap enough to keep us from going broke

Something I've learned fishing over the years. If there is a size limit you don't want your fish to be right on the line. I've seen fish shrink 1/8 to 3/16 when they get stressed. Especially if you are keeping them in a livewell.
@larryrabathaly95039 ай бұрын
Wowwww that is truly remarkable! Seriously! Because the bobber stopper keeps the bobber in place whereby not allowing the sinker to touch bottom and the bait will be floating freely how smart is that I must admit I’ve learned something very fish important 😀 today 👍👍👍

This video is really making me nostalgic for spin fishing, which is a bit of a surprise since I’ve been focused on fly fishing lately. I did some spin fishing as a kid, but at 37, I’ve been trying to get back into it-self-teaching as I go. My first attempt was frustrating, and somehow that led me down the path to fly fishing (which, honestly, I’m still struggling with). Watching this brings back memories of catching a big bream earlier this year on a spin rod with a float setup, and it's still one of my favorite fishing moments.

Hey! I've fishing the same way here in Italy for 15 years now: sliding float from a pier with rocks. Let me give you an advice: you definitely need a longer an dedicated rod for bobber fishing, at least 5 meters long. You also need a landing net the same length. The rig you use is very good, but some small adjusts would make it even better. If like to, i'll make a video in which I show my rig and my way of fishing. Keep in touch. Your YT chamnel is awesome!

I have been fishing since I was a child and I always used a slip bobber and a slip sinker including when I needed to probe the different spots on the lake for depth. You just remove the hook and cast out the bobber and if your sinker hits the bottom that means that your stopper is set deeper than the depth of the lake is in that spot and the bobber will lay flat on the surface. Also, most people are not even aware that in windy conditions you shouldn't use a very thick bobber as it acts more like a sail than a bobber. It gets blown anywhere and then you have to go back to bottom fishing. Instead you should use an english or a very thin finger bobber that can support a heavier sinker so that its mere tip will poke out from the surface. That keeps it even more controlled in rough wave conditions. Also instead of a braided fishing line which usually floats on the surface use a mono sinking line. Also, you need a better stopper and I have been making my own stoppers for a very long time from a braided line since those rubber ones that you are using will wear out quickly and never hold its depth. With only a few adjustments you will notice that they get loose and never hold the depth properly and there goes your hook straight for the rocks. Luckily you can now buy the stoppers made from quality braided line inexpensively since they never degrade or wear out you have them for as long as you have the line on the reel. You have to pull hard on your stopper to adjust the depth and it stays where you put it and it will never move on its own. There are many more secrets to slip bobber fishing which I could talk about in lengths, but it would just get too long here. You can also protect your expensive bobbers by putting a fresh coat of polyurethane over them since the sea salt will degrade them and that way if you have some very expensive or specialized bobbers like it is the case for me they can last you a very long time. I intend to pass my gear over to my kids so I do it lol.

It maybe new to you but we have been fishing the weighted slip bobber for years. Fishing pan fish 2 ways - cast and watch or slow trolling with planner boards. In each case using live bait, crickets, worms and swimming plastics. You can also do a combo of drop shot and Carolina slip bobber rig. Main line to swivel to leader. The leader 6" - 8" hook to weight, then up from weight 6" - 8" tie in line hook (point up) polymer knot with eyelet between the knot (adds extra strength too keep hook pointed parallel and up right). Then another 4" to 6" tie to swivel on the main line. You already know how to prepare the slip bobber it desired.

I have used this rig for many years and its a very effective method. I think that the bead is worthless in the way you using it. The purpose of using bead is to protect the knoot above the sink and the float. Beacause when you trow away the float the sink will smash the float when you do it enough times. And a recomend you to at least one but two is better. So my recomendation is to put two bead below the float and not above 😉👌

Thank you for your explanations. I have a couple of advices though. First don't use a snell knot on a hook with an eye not soldered (and thus closed) to the hooks body, this knot is sometimes very weak due to the line coming eventually right into the small gap between the hooks eye and the hooks body, where it starts rubbing... Use the improved clinch knot instead, or take hooks with the paddle instead of the eye, or even use soldered, closed eye hooks (rare). Second. The principle of the sliding floater works of course very good, the only thing is, if it's really deep and you need to reel in the line portion where the stopper is, you CAN NOT use the bead, because it's too big to be reeled in. And the last one, OK, this works fine vith a shrimp because it will swim above the bottom anyway, but will no way work with a bait like mussel, or urchin, which has to be lying down at the bottom. It will be suspicios for any fish if they see it floating even just an inch above the bottom. Oh yeah, one more. This big one piece sinker is only OK if it is lying on the bottom, or if you deliberately fish in the rough sea with a lot of foam, near the rock shore. Otherwise, you prefer the series od smaller sinkers. Cheers from Croatia!
