I couldn’t tell the difference either. About the same slide mass reciprocating in the Gen 3 and Gen 4. The recoil in 10mm happens too fast to notice any difference in my opinion. The G20 is among my favorite Glocks.

I had a Gen 4 G20 10mm and I loved the finger grooves coming back, the three magazines (although, I bought from a Pawn Shop and it only had one mag, why a person who is pawning a firearm, needs magazines for a gun they no longer have is beyond me, unless they want a Gen 5 or future generations). I love the gel cushioned side grips. I really enjoyed it, but even with the double recoil spring and the full size barrel and frame, it had a decent kick to it. I would say stick to the best generation, which is, IMO, the best. It even single cycled .40 S&W but I only did that for a few mags worth of ammunition toot fuck up the extractor, which broke on my Beretta PX4 Storm .45 ACP, great gun, well Beretta, so goes without saying. The Gen 5 has no new or added safety features, no finger grooves and only is differentiated by the ambidextrous slide release button, which has sucked on all Glocks, they should make it more beefy. Quality firearm, nevertheless.
@Wildwestwrangler Жыл бұрын
@@davsny5they did beef it up a bit on the gen 5. Also gen 5 has a more accurate barrel, and if you're a good shooter you'll notice the difference as the gen 5 barrels group better, and the gen 5 triggers are improved over gen 1-4.

I have both gens in 10mm. I prefer the gen3 because it’s so much easier to choose different recoil springs and guide rods for the various hotter loads. The gen3 just gives one more options based on the load one chooses to carry. For regular factory loads, I keep my Gen 4 loaded with them. For hotter DoubleTap, underwood or BuffaloBore, I prefer the gen3 all day long. Actually, it's the other way around. You can find a large array of recoil spring weights for the Gen 3, up to a 24# spring and everything in between. As a matter of fact, many convert their Gen 4's to the Gen 3 recoil spring system, or at least they use to. When I retired a good friend asked me to manage his Gun Shop while I was waiting for my wife to retire, and during that time he sent me to the Glock school; I've been hooked ever since! @@dmonster1528 as I live in a rural area, they already have for many years. As I said, the sheriff’s departments have selected this as their duty side arm. In Los Angeles where I lived for a large part of my life LAPD has chosen this as one of their duty side arms. There are many mountainous areas and deserts areas there and in all these varied rural areas these firearms work flawlessly. Although I must say my 2 favorite side arms are 1911s and S&W 3rd Gen Stainless steel side arms in .40 and .45 ACP. For a time these were issued to LAPD and CHP(Califorina Highway Patrol). I hope this answers your question(s)

@@dmonster1528 I own 3 Glock 21s and 30s. These are part of a self defense system. I also own the Glock 20 and 29. The reason has to do with defense in a court of law. On advise from firearms Attorneys both in Los Angeles and here in on the Gulf Coast of Florida they recommend using the firearms and ammo as the typical Deputy/Officer. This has to do with the ability to defend your choice of firearm and caliber if you have to defend yourself from an attack and they again defend yourself in a court of law. Speak with a firearms attorney in your area and see what they say. As stated above, my favorite side arms are 1911s and S&W 3rd Gen Stainless Steel handguns in .40 and .45 ACP but that is not what law enforcement use in my area and in Los Angeles. FYI - LAPD SWAT use 1911 specially design and built for them. When I was training with members of that team I used 1911s and S&W 3rd Gen .45 ACP. The S&W handguns are still authorize on duty side arms for patrol officers I hope this answer your questions.

@@k4vms I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. The reason this is so near and dear to my heart is i have a gen 4 g21 with about 100 rounds thru it and i think the world of it. Previously i had a g30 never fired it and sold it for half the price bc i wanted something with longer grip and barrel length. B4 that i had a .40 smith wesson and my very first was a hi point lol Anyway its come to my attention that the g20 in 10mm is getting a lot of attention. As it's the most powerful glock in production. The capacity is a little better. Is there a big difference in recoil between the 21 and 20? If it was based on pure performance which one do you prefer? I really like how the 21 performs with the right hollow points. The 20 has the best penetration of any caliber i've seen. I'm really stubborn about my guns having to be brand new. If i was able to purchase a 20 but it meant losing my 21 what advice would you give me? I live in the city but i would like to hunt occasionally lol I'm so thankful for ur help and if u read all this crap then I'll be looking forward to hearing your opinion. I think I've turned it to a gun fanatic lol 2nd amendment and all that lol

Great video. I have a G29 gen 4 that I love. I am hoping to get a G20 soon to add to the collection. My favorite round is the Underwood 155 gr fmj.

Wolff spring and metal guide rod. Better than both stock options for RSA and stone cold reliable.

I reload and will load cheap Berry's for practice and Underwood for heavy loads. I had a Gen 3 with a KKM barrel and sold it. Now have a Gen 4 with the standard barrel. I'll be getting the KKM for the gen 4 because I was more accurate with that barrel (or at least I feel like I was).

Hitting that gong ( 4 for 4) at that distance with a semi automatic is impressive. Good review. Thanks

Hickok,,,,after reviewing & pausing video to measure recoil & muzzle flip/jump it is VERY clear that gen4 has considerably less muzzle jump & recoil,,,but it all boils down to individual shooter & how they perceive it & interpret recoil,,,,nice video,,,thanks..

Good video. I have the Gen 4, 20 but no access to a G3 for comparison. BTW, kudos to John for giving us a shot of your cool, "Hickok 45 Glock" holster. Really nice!

Love the videos. Have 12 min left on this one then off to watch Sun shoot Around 116. That's a lot of Sundays. Also not poking fun but I may have watched one or two videos where your hat brim was not crooked! Thank you kind Sir!

Having owned both gens I prefer Gen 3. The frame feels like it's better quality and the tenifer slide can't be beat.
