@@Highwind452 Actually taking money from a huge publisher like sony to use for the budget is a way riskier thing to do than to just fund it themselves. Publishers don't do charity, they want profit.

Yes Kojima is one of the few who will take risks and I respect that, I play Death Stranding and I do like the game, Kojima always said in the beginning that Death Stranding is about connecting and using Stick and the Rope. I knew this game was not going to be like Metal Gear but for some reason some Gamer's forget quick.
@MacMan2152

@@mohamadmousavi no it is not riskier. it is publisher's money and if he loses all the money it isn't his money anyway. there is literally zero risks for hideo kojima's money.
@mohamadmousavi
@mohamadmousavi 4 жыл бұрын
@@MacMan2152 No you're completely wrong. considering the cut that a publisher takes from the profit, if a game does poorly it puts the studio in even worse situation than if they self funded and self published it. since not all the money is going to the studio it's very likely that commercial failure would lead to the closure of the studio. The studio might've earned enough to sustain itself if they didn't share profit with a third party publisher. Why do you think most studios that are closed down are the ones that had a deal with a Publisher and failed to meet the sales expectation? because it's riskier. this is also why so many of the studios that felt comfortable staying indie before (like Double Fine and Insomniac) are agreeing to be merged with bigger studios, cause being an indie developer that does deals with publishers is one of the worst position a studio could be at.

@Berserker no. What he says in Japanese makes it pretty clear that some member of staff had a pet crab that they brought in and knowingly (and regrettably) had killed in the process of 3d scanning the body. I doubt they would've held a mini-funeral service for the crab if it were already dead.
@Cnupoc

it was not a pet crab :D it was a crab that someone brought in to the studio that's all he says. having in mind that crabs are very common dish in Japan, i presume they just bought one at the market. The finest specimen of course :)

Warphead I didn’t like Death Stranding as a whole, either the gameplay or the story. BUT what you wrote there is true. Kojima and his team have some of the deepest understanding of what art is and how it can be used. The man himself understands gaming like anyone else. The message, themes, and art direction of Death Stranding are exceptional and unique, the cinematography is better than 80% of today’s cinema. I hope Kojima-san and his team will learn from DS’s mistakes and go back to the right mix between subversive and accessible/fun MGS had.

I've always liked the way Kojima-San talks, he talks in a humble way, trying to be as understanding as possible, and is genuinely excited about his art and wants to give us the absolute best hes got every time he creates something, he never wants to take shortcuts or make compromises, he knows players hates bugs, so he does extensive testing himself to make sure its a finished product. Also gotta understand hes been making games for more than 30 years, before the internet blew up, back when once a game was released, that was the final product. Even if one doesnt like DS, supporting companies like Kojima Productions is important for the future of gaming. If we let Kojima Productions fail, the evil money-greedy companies like Konami, Rockstar, Blizzard, EA, Activision and many others will win.

I hope he does more videos like this. I was hoping Playstation would do one those one to two hours behind the scenes. I loved this game so much. I can get why some people dont but I think everyone should give it a chance and like Kojima said take what you get from the game with you.

Awesome episode GameSpot fam🎉🎉 Amazing from start to finish. The lil details give the opening cinematic even more depth. Interesting to note how each beached thing has a name given to them. But also the reach out, timefall (with nightmarish results) . Plus the explanation of what not to do, never leave a body for too long I love this game, experience, every journey is rewarding, and the atmosphere, tone, and music is unlike any other title out there. Thanks for sharing this with us

小島監督の創造する世界観。それを具現化する新川さん。Death strandingは独特な世界のつくりなので文化的、科学的な裏付けがないと成り立たない。仕事の丁寧さ、情熱が作品から強く感じられました。

The boat scene with quiet reminds me quite abit of the boat scenes with Rikku and Yuna in FFX. A game where we venture to the world of the dead, to connect the past and guide the souls of the dead to the farplane.

Great video. Followed Kojima since about 1998 when MGS came out. Just finished DS. Great game I really enjoyed my time with it. He seems such a chill guy. I'd love him to do a netflix series as you can cram more into it rather than a 90 minute film.

Mads Mikkelsen's character was my favourite. His appearance in the war scenarios was so menacing. The game gave me similar vibes to Dark (the German Netflix show), from the atmosphere and with the mix of science and philosophy.
