Stantec Tower isn't there yet. Manulife Place is still the tallest building downtown.

My mom remembered taking the trolley across the high level to go to the princess theatre to see Rudy Valentino at the Princess theatre with her friends. She said they had to stop midway in the wind gusts. I went across it in an old steam engine when I was in grade two. Scary to look down and see just the river.

When I was a kid remember going with the street car on the High Level , train track in the middle and s/car on outside both ways. found it scary as when you sat on the outside you couldnt see any of the bridge deck

My Grandma told me the exact same thing about looking down. Her and her sisters (both older) would take the streetcar across the High Level to the Varscona Theater (where the Shoppers on 109st/82ave is), and when the streetcar went across the bridge she'd hide under her seat!

I almost busted my leg when I tripped and fell between the railroad ties while walking across the the top of the High Level Bridge way way back in the silly days. What f7n. Scary fun. 🙂

Wonderful operator's view of an old-style streetcar/interurban line! I like the fact that there are no lights, bells or gates at the crossings, only good old cross bucks. I hope to ride it some day!

Still so hard to believe it had 2 street car tracks and a train track down the middle all fitting on top there, I still get nervous crossing on the streetcar.

I remember placing pennies on that track at 98 avenue to see how the CPR trains would squish them flat.

Why no stop signs crossing lights or horns to warn cars ... Some close calls there!
@darwishd92626 жыл бұрын
J McGillivray, Marshall is absolutely right. I witnessed a few close calls. I’m just wondering what you’re on for not seeing those near misses?!?!?!
@kool8805 жыл бұрын
As a trained motor man who drives this line, I can absolutely say that we encounter close calls on the daily. We only use the horn when absolutely necessary.

I agree with David, I am also a trained street car driver. Street cars have absolute right of way, we also slow down and watch for cars that do not give us the right of way. In more than twenty years I believe we have only had on incident and it was minor, so stop look and listen, as we have the right of way. Look forward to you riding the street car, we are looking for volunteers and have a good training program. You are required to be 21 or over and have a valid drivers license. Come on down and check us out. Regards Doug Batchelder

Nah. There are plenty of warnings. There has never been an incident, to my knowledge.

Too bad you couldn’t have been up there when the waterfall was still in operation. All of our wonderful landmarks are being scrapped all in the name of money:(

Why not add some video of the actual streetcar before you start the cab ride. Even some photos would be great. Cheers.

Is it a round trip? How long does it take for a trip?
@chrisvazquez77 жыл бұрын
vikram oza You can either purchase one-way or round trip tickets. This video is just the one way, so round trip would be about 24 minutes.
@bonniemcphee26456 жыл бұрын
yes i can be a round trip and also you can have a couple hours to look at the legislature building or do something downtown and then get back to whyte ave, or vice versa. nice trip. cheap and scenic

Absolutely fabulous. Can't beat the cab driver's view. Safer on the bridge than on level with idiot drivers trying to beat the streetcar!!
