But there’s always people that are clearly not of NZ decent or heritage. Those who don’t look native aren’t in the back or sitting quietly. They’re in it, front line middle line doesn’t matter. Makes me feel like “ hey you’re wearing our uniform/ colors you’re one of us.” Also the way they calmly and quietly sat down. Add an M4 or axe in their hand and my grown as is running as fast as I can. That is probably one of life’s greatest moments for the teacher. Much respect

The avocado (Persea americana) is a medium-sized, evergreen tree in the laurel family (Lauraceae). It is native to the Americas and was first domesticated in Mesoamerica more than 5,000 years ago. Then as now it was prized for its large and unusually oily fruit.[3] The tree likely originated in the highlands bridging south-central Mexico and Guatemala.[4][5][6] Its fruit, sometimes also referred to as an alligator pear or avocado pear, is botanically a large berry containing a single large seed.

As an Ex old boy of PNBHS they are awesome. You want to hear the end of year ones at prizegiving night. That is next level. 1800 odd boys in an echoing arena is even more goosebump causing. Boys used to hate the structure but it also made us responsible and respectful and that when a staff member said jump you did or you would deal with the consequences. You know when you went to the school what the expectations were. Ask alot of the boys in the senior years and we have alot of respect and Mana for the staff. Im about 12 years out of it and I have kept in touch with staff, and even had a job with a board member, and things that I learnt from the school has been with me ever since. I was there under Tim OConnor’s rule who is now Auckland Grammar’s Rector and that is running the same level. You lay out the expectations and the boys follow. PNBHS has a huge proud military history and I think it’s because the military runs similarly to the school also with being home to some of the biggest defence bases helps. Never once since being there have I thought it was a crap place, sure im one who hated school because its not my scene, but the place was definitely a gem. You would never see what happened to David Seymour at Freyberg happen at PNBHS. Weak leadership/discipline grows weak people, strong leadership/discipline builds strong people and minds.

Its so weird do see teenagers do something unironically. And so refreshing. They are all dead serious and that makes it so powerfull. And i already though that New Zealand is the coolest country on the planet. Now i respect them even more.

Yes, the famous New Zealand Haka............about as meaningful as the traditional Irish Baraka Monkey Chant...................
@hanshandkante50552 жыл бұрын
@@eduardopena5893 What are you even talking about you wanna-be expert? Every ritual is meaningless in itself unless we fill it with meaning. For an atheist a host is just a tasteless waffle, for a catholic it's the body of christ. A Haka might be meaningless to you but it is obviously not meaningless to the Kiwis and it gives them a sense of community and strenght.

@@hanshandkante5055 It is not a European tradition.
@hanshandkante50552 жыл бұрын
@@eduardopena5893 Who cares? Christianity is also no european tradition. It comes from palestine OBVIOUSLY. I say it again, EVERY tradition no matter how old, was started somehow and somewhere. Just because something is older doesn't mean it is necessarely more authentic. What makes an ritual or tradition authentic is the MEANING that it has for the participants. You don't have to be from palestine to be part of a christian ritual and you don't have to be a maori to be part of a Hakka, you don't have to be from india to be part of a buddhist tradition, you don't have to be from europe to believe in the old nordic or slavic gods. You can believe and practice whatever you want no matter where you are from.

@@hanshandkante5055 Christianity is a religion, not a culture, nor a tradition. Sure, you can appropriate culture from wherever you want....apparently.
