I was watching that game when it happened and I was pissed about that blown call by the refs. Yeah it helped my team but it was so obviously bad that it tarnishes a victory for MI. When Clowney smashed our RB, forcing that fumble, I was happy about it. The wrong was righted immediately and if Michigan wins it’s legit. What I failed to grasp was how big that hit would become!!! It’s featured in 1000’s of highlights. I’ve probably seen it over 100x LOL. I’ll be seeing it forever!! Which is exactly what that diabolically evil referee wanted!! He wasn’t a Michigan man, he was a Buckeye and he was executing his plan to create the ultimate Wolverines humiliation highlight. Touché Buckeyes ref, touché!

If a player tosses the ball at an opponent, is talking a bunch of trash with profanity, does a celebration to get the ire of the crowd, throat slash, sure, throw a flag. But things like high stepping, dancing, etc really shouldn’t warrant a taunting penalty. If another team doesn’t want them to taunt, stop them from scoring.

I remember one time B1G officials called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Nebraska’s Kenny Bell after scored a touchdown and took a bow in the endzone…it was a home game and he was bowing to Nebraska fans lol didn’t take the score off but put the kickoff back 15 yards.

Taunting penalties are freaking subjective, opinionated, and stupid. Unless it's an Elijah Moore-level of stupid, refs need to keep the flags on their person. High-stepping into the endzone, waving at the defense, and gator-chomping your opponent and getting penalized is absurd.

I have two: Oregon at Utah (11/08/2014): Kaelin Clay, certain he has a touchdown, disposes of the ball at the one-yard line. The referee does not signal touchdown. An opposing player picks it up and runs it in for a touchdown for the other team. Tennessee at Georgia (10/01/2016): Jalen Hurd starts prancing into the endzone, but one Georgia player causes him to fumble, and another Georgia player recovers the ball in the endzone.

Don’t get me wrong… rules are set and you follow them, and teaching young men to actually be men and not thugs is one thing. Clamping down on celebration that isn’t disrespectful is another.
