@maluco30266 ай бұрын
@@zxbc1 I'm not sure Hikaru would consider it a diss on himself at this point. He was probably mocked in and out of the professional circle for the path he took, but at this point he doesn't have financial or ever professional pressure on him, as he says, his contribution to chess has been his career and the eyes he brought (I remember him saying it himself). So he's now on top of his game, almost no "negative" pressure on him and with a completely different mindset from all others of his generation, except maybe Magnus. And at this point, I bet anyone would love to be in Hikaru's shoes. It just seems like a class move, not only the respect, but maybe also putting himself in Ding's shoes and understanding that whatever situation Ding's in, it's relatively easy for any professional to fall into but maybe not so linear to get out. Or maybe related to China, but that's just speculation on my part. Still, it's a bit frightening for the chess championship how Ding is playing now. Maybe I'm missing some perspective as someone who follows chess somewhat shallowly but that's my human read

@@rehan4783 That's all part of his ploy to make his classical career look like an afterthought. Magnus' dad said it very well, one of Hikaru's biggest ruses was the "I literally don't care" image, which outwardly deflects any severe criticism on his bad performance if he encounters any, and internally alleviates his pressure and insecurities. He has kept it up very well and that's why he has a very good public reception despite not getting good results in many tournaments. His whole tactic of making it "serious business" when Anna semi-mocked his streaming career is precisely the true Hikaru - he literally cares what you say and how you say it, and he cares a great deal about how he performs, even though he makes the opposite appearance.
