If you decide to do this, walk up from Manker flat to either Ski Hut way, Ridge Route or service road to ski lodge,dont take the ski lift, hike it.

Coming back down, I got the bright idea of taking a shortcut down a steep embankment. A rock slipped out from my under my forward boot, the upper one stayed put. Short story - ripped out all the ligaments in the upper foot, it filled up with blood, and I had a devil of a time getting down to the tram, with a foot that flopped and could not be well directed, and the pain! Lesson learned - be sure of the footing before launching your body out onto it. Otherwise, a great hike!

How long did it take to get to the summit? And can people camp up there?

It took me 3 hours without the lift and yes people can camp up there.

CamSayCam You can but the sheep will leave you alone! the mountain lions are not up there nor are bears and Coyotes! the Asian Hikers Might want to take pictures with your Gun Though!!!!

@@Cambpro fire arms are not allowed, but some people do carry them for protection of bears and mountain lions.

nice vid ...although i wouldn't take the back bone route....because at all times you know what you got into...very steep..if you take the baldy bowl it is easier on the mind because you can't really see the summit until you almost got there...also there are more trees which means you get more shade almost all the way to the top...
