I delivered mail in 🇨🇦 for 23years. The temperatures ranged from -44 Celsius with the windchill to +44 Celsius with the humidex. During the hot temperatures during the summer I would wear long sleeves and long pants and a wide brimmed hat . My sweat was captured by the material and cooled me. If you rely on sweat on exposed skin trying to cool you, your body will have to work harder, and you’d have to drink a lot more water due to having to sweat excessively.

From one heat-intolerant person to another I found the holy grail for hot weather… worked like a charm in Cambodia though I looked a bit goofy. Dress in head to toe clothes that are first put in a bath of water. Bring a large bottle of water and wet the drying fabric. You will stay cool as a cucumber!!! I remember melting in Romania in June as well!

Always wanted to know what the geography was like in that region. Had no idea how rugged it is, and old the geology. I'm 4 generations removed from Norwegian and Swedish immigrants. All my life I've had difficulty with hot, humid weather. I have to wear headbands to keep from getting eye infections from sweat that rains down my face, and 2-3 changes of clothes on a hot summer day. Even experiencing summer in Larvik it was hard to stay dry. Thanks for the tour!

I'm enjoying your content thoroughly. I can relate to your aversion to heat. I'm in Florida looking after my 93 yr old Father and I will never live in a sub tropical climate again. I love the mountains and plan to go back West to the Sierra's. But my family is out of Pennsylvania of German and Hungarian descent. One area I plan to see is Hungary, Romania and Slovenia looks beautiful. I did spend 4 years in Aschaffenburg, Bayern in the Army and after.I really enjoyed living there and will revisit. I also have a friend in Finland I will see and maybe one in Wales. I didn't know before today you lifted weights. I am just getting back into it but have done it most my life. I also never took steroids and I think my best bench was 365lb at 51. What types of novels do you write. One of my favorites is Sarem. I started reading Louis L'Amour as a kid but my favorites from him weren't Westerns. I liked The Walking Drum and The Last of a Breed.

Hiking in Romania in the winter or autumn is much better, I'm from Transylvania so I can tell from experience 😂. Here the summer gets pretty hot (although this summer was unusually hot till now imo, at least in the area where I live) but in the winter it gets really cold and snowy in the mountains, and it's a lot better. But a lot of areas in the Carpathians are not exactly safe during the winter so there are many trails that you can only do during the summer, or it's suggested for your own safety at least unless you have a lot of experience and quite professional equipment. I would like to add that it's suggested not to hike alone in the Romanian mountains since they are filled with bears. They normally should fear humans but they got too used to us which makes them much more dangerous since they are less likely to run away when they hear or see you

Welcome to my country Bjorn! Hope you enjoy your stay and that you visit Dracula's Castle. Just don't go there at night time :) My ancient Dacian ancestors were known to be some of the best blacksmiths during their era at around same time as ancient greeks, surpassing Roman technology before the Vikings claimed that title during the medieval Dark Ages. I believe we also traded things among eachother during the middle ages My ancestors used to wave the Dacian Draco (wolf head and serpent body on a stick) to scare off the Roman invaders and it was cleverly designed with feathers to amplify the howling wind sound and make it seem more terrifying. We also believed in multiple gods, Zamolxis being one of them and our beliefs were very closely tied to nature as well

@@akosbalogh5272 It wasn't for more than thousand years (at most 950 years and if we count the years where Hungarian Kingdom was smashed by the turks who occupied Budapest for 150 years we will reach even a smaller number, more like 800 years) but so does Spain was under islamic occupation for almost 800 years but that doesn't make it arabic does it ? Even the name of Transylvania is a latin word and was inhabited by populations who spoke the same language, had the same cultural customs and the same beliefs, religion as romanians, in fact they were romanians and throughout the whole 900 + years of history they were the vast majority in terms of demographics.

I myself can't cope with the maritime climate in west-north Europe. It irritates my body and my biological rhythm. No place feels like home that shaped us.
