The silent mode is fantastic for cutting up ridgid foam board. Not only is it quieter, but the lower speed leaves a cleaner cut and does not tear up aluminum backed polyiso like a regular circ saw.

I’ve got both those saws. So good. the C3607DB Circular saw has another shorter lever for the guard that comes in the box for you to switch out when you put the dust extractor attachment. You guys should have received it in the box. Great bit of kit.

I have wanted a barrel grip for some time now. I couldn’t agree more with your assessment, therefore I still haven’t jumped on one. I’m more inclined to get the barrel grip corded to go with my d handle. 572e Bosch There isn’t a more user controllable jigsaw with a better blade system IMO. Thanks guys!

On the Hikoki C18DBAL i have the silent mode drops the RPM but if you start pushing the motor then it ramps its speed up. So ripping thin ply it will pretty much work in silient mode but push it too fast or go through something thicker/tougher and it will ramp that speed up

The Bosch barrel grip jigsaw back whn they still made them in Switzerland is the best one ever made. I'm glad I still have mine from way back then, I use it solely for accurate work and don't take it to jobsites. Both barrel and handle have their benefits for sure, I think for sure a handle jigsaw is better for carpentry and a barrel is better for finishing work. You can also hang handle jigsaws off your belts tool hook for jobsite use

I get the need for 36v circ saw but really who needs a 36 v jigsaw. Theyd be better off putting their energy into redesigning their battery plane and LH circ saw
@OZToolTalk4 жыл бұрын
If you'd invested in the 36v line as your main line, wouldn't you want a jigsaw? This is meant to be a comprehensive line. Being 36V doesn't make it bigger or anything ...
@tomc39654 жыл бұрын
@@OZToolTalk but by making it a 36v jigsaw its using more power. Like the guy above said a 36v jigsaw is not necessary. An 18v would have been perfectly fine and would run longer on one of those multi volt batteries
@stupidwapdaggo4 жыл бұрын
@@OZToolTalk but what if you invested into both 18V and 36V tools/batteries? The problem is that they never came out with a better option for people who started with the 18V stuff. Their battery is also backwards compatible so they should've just made a brushless jigsaw in 18V to cover both bases at once. This is also one of those tools where you really don't need up to ~1200-1400W of power anyways. Most corded jigsaws max out around ~700W.
@Omanastylez4 жыл бұрын
@@tomc3965 I don't think there would be much difference in run time between an 18v and 36v on the same battery. If you double the voltage then you effectively halve the current. As a result, the 36v tools will require a low current flow and probably not heat up as quickly.
@B15SDMDESIGNS2 жыл бұрын
Power = voltage x current Higher the voltage, the lower the current draw which means less heat build up and potentially runs for longer. Even though its a higher voltage, overall it actually runs more efficiently. The power output on both 18v and 36v volt platforms is near enough identical. It all comes down to efficiency.
@shifty2774 жыл бұрын
Only thing I feel with Hikoki here in the UK is they just dont have enough tools in the lineup and their are quite a few bad dud tools from the old 18v lineup. Perhaps when their lineup is better complimented in the next 2 years with all their tools cometetive in quality and price with the Milwuakee, Dewalt and Makita lineup then they can rise. Some good units being released in the multi volt line up slowly but surely. Great coverage guys, particularly the discussion on the barrell jigsaw, I myself am a complete D handle jigsaw user. For context I'm all in on Makita 18v brushless line (Jig, Circ, impact, combi, angle, multi and planer) with 3 year guarantees, have yet to have a 5amp genuine battery fail on me in 5 years and have 12 of them. Thumbs up.

What would the benefit of a barrel jigsaw over a D handle then? (you didn't explore that side of the argument)
@OZToolTalk4 жыл бұрын
A barrel jigsaw has a grip lower/closer the the workpiece, allowing better accuracy perhaps. It also allows a two handed grip if the workpiece isn't moving.
@BrainFizz3 жыл бұрын
Barrel grip jigsaws are great for holding the saw on the under side of a board, say the back of a piece of skirting or fillet so you can scribe from the back, that way it’s cutting into the face reducing chips., even thiugh it comes with a splinter guard. I got rid of my Festool carvex in favour of this new jigsaw.

Used Hitachi for years then they brought out the first of the brushless range and they were rubbish so changed platform and never went back. As to barrel jigsaws I used D handle for 38 years or so. Bought my first cordless jigsaw as a barrel grip. Lasted less than a year hated it and then it broke anyway. I was glad to throw it away gone back to D. So much more control with the trigger instead of a slide switch you can't reach.
