new Subscriber. I have left hip dysplasia that is steadily getting worse. I was born breach and the dr told my mom that he had a hard time getting me out. No one realized until years later that he had accidentally pulled my hip out of socket while trying to pull me out. I’m looking for conservative management that does not involve surgery. Thanks for the exercise recommendations. I will see which I can safely try. I can barely move my left leg now. Thank you … take care. Like 154 👍 🔔

I can’t even move my left leg away from my body anymore. The pain is the worst I’ve ever felt and I’ve had 2 babies. Feels like it immediately dislocates as soon as it is moved (to the side) away from me

Sorry to hear that. Hope these exercises give you some relief

@@PerformanceSportSpine are these exercises safe for bilateral hip hyperplasia? Both hips need replacement. Both Acetabular angles are >20. I literally have little to no bone past the Perkins line if I remember correctly. Petite thin female here. First surgery a few months away, then second hip. Lotsa pain. I've got to KEEP MOVING but Safely.

Hi Dr Zack, these exercises don’t stretch the labrum ? Like the ball abduction..I will try but I am definitely going to stop all the static stretching that you recommended as an OT up until recently I always thought it was gluteal tendonopathy and IT just like you said until and XRay showed shallow hips “hip dysplasia” ugh..doing the exercises probably won’t aggravate me..I’m really inflamed right now due to playing pickleball which I love but usually can’t walk for a day or two after (I’m very competitive) but know it’s been 4 wks and MRI showing lots of inflammation on both hips although left is worse right now..been in bed for a few days and non- weight bearing decreases pain except when rolling..once this fire settles down I will try these thank you and your absolutely right not a lot of research as I have been complaining of pain for 10yrs in and off with “bursitis” dx and the other dx I mentioned ugh..I will be a case study and help with research if need be ..would love to see how I could be part of that..not of the PT’s in my area really seem professional or just seems so busy doing same old’ tx that’s not working for me…to much focus on “periformis” and ER/IR stretches which kill me ugh..and I can barely do anyways ..hope to hear from you Kelly B the OT

Hello! With the correct range of motion they strengthen the labrum. Glad to hear you are stopping the static stretching. Sounds like there might be some gltueal tendinopathy issues, if so this video will help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oarMZ3Z8frBorsksi=BTOYqHl-WKjKQAkH Sorry to hear the care you have received has been sub-optimal. Hi, I have hip dysplasia in both hips but it is more severe in the right one as well as the right leg is shorter and I also have 48.1* scoliosis... It is getting harder and harder everyday. I have 3 kids so I cannot have the surgery now. I really hope these exercises will help to manage the pain because I have started to avoid walking with my kids. I am 34 years old and find it very early for the surgery as well as cortisone injections. Please advise! Thank you!

Hi, sorry to hear you are dealing with this. Is your scoliosis progressing? Do you know how big the leg length difference is? As for recommendation, we have had great success helping people with these issues with our online sessions, giving them a tailored rehab program to match their current needs. It is about 2cm... and Yes, scoliosis is progressing unfortunately... it was 45* about 2 years ago and it is 48* ...

@rinagashii Are you wearing a brace at night? Have you tried a heel lift or insole in the foot of the shorter leg?
@rinagashii9 күн бұрын
@PerformanceSportSpine I do not know what brace you are talking about. I have recently bought a heel lifter.

Hello, would I only do this with the leg that has hip dysplasia or both sides?

Can clamshells and bridge worsen groin pain (my main symptom)? Im in my mid 20s and got diagnosed with hip dysplasia recently. Been working with my PT for the past few 2 months and the main exercises she prescribed to me were those two. But Im keep feeling that Im 'using' my hip joint(or muscles/tendons around it?) when doing those 🫤 I know I have to ONLY use my glutes but my groin area is keep getting irritated... my pt tried to change my postures and stuff but i still feel no difference

@@PerformanceSportSpine thanks! Does that also apply for bridge? (And I should avoid doing it if that causes discomfort/pain?)

Yes, avoid the bridges in they cause pain

Hi doc new to your channel I have been having this issues almost a year and got X-rays and came back mild hips displa. It’s seems to get worse when I do hip thrust, squats, and deadlifts are these exercises I should stop until ?

@@marky2311 Thanks for watching. Yes you should stop and do these rehab exercises. Then when you are ready, gradually add those exercises you mention above back in

Is there any evidence that shows hip dysplasia can cause hip impingement?
@PerformanceSportSpine4 күн бұрын
We have not look specifically for that. They are different in their etiology, as hip impingement is bony changes that cause less range of motion, whereas hip dysplasia is poor formation of the hip joint structure, usually meaning more range of motion. So, my guess is no. They can both cause symptomatic labral tears
